From here on out, Helli will continue to help me with translating. Bless her heart. Did you know she’s also an amazing artist?? She designed the cover for a novel she translates at Chaleuria.
Even though the background introduction aggressively challenged Shi Qing’s three views, he still bit the bullet and looked through it in order to complete the task perfectly.
Generally speaking, there were both men and women in this world. Beyond that though, there were also clear divisions between men and men, and between women and women.
All alphas were inherently powerful and had great advantages in combat and leadership. They were born as the strong ones in this world. Of course, there were great differences even amongst the strong, but it was undeniable that any alpha was stronger than the strongest omega. That was their innate strength.
The slightly weaker ones were the betas. Within the context of this strange world, a beta was just like an average joe in a normal world. Shi Qing read more about them and felt that they were no different from normal humans at all.
Then there was the alpha’s complete opposite existence, and also the most exotic existence of them all—the omega. Whether they were male or female, just by virtue of being an omega they would be extremely fertile. Simply put, they were practically born just to reproduce. Furthermore, it seemed like destiny willed the omegas to succumb to that fate themselves. Solely because they happened to be born as omegas, they would have a troubling and annoying ‘heat’ that they can’t get rid of no matter what. Also, they constantly emitted a sweet-smelling scent that could excite nearby alphas.
Omegas were rare, much rarer than alphas, but their fates were sad. After they were born, anyone judged to be an omega had to be registered with the omega association. They were allowed to live with their parents as children. Unfortunately, once they reached the age of 11, their bodies would gradually develop and they were subsequently taken away and raised together with the rest.
Even after maturing into adults, an omega did not gain the right to choose their own spouse.
There were many wars going on in the world, and an alpha’s position on the battlefield was unmatched. They were the soldiers who defended their country and the vanguards in the struggle for territory. They were the warriors who allowed mankind to live on. The most outstanding alphas had the right to choose their partner. They could choose the omega that suited them the best, the one they liked the most, and also the most fertile of the bunch.
Only in that way would their genetic lineage be passed along. As a result, stronger alphas would be born, the army would grow stronger, and the country would consequently grow stronger as well!
It was a virtuous circle.
Naturally, this circle did not include the happiness of omegas.
They were human, but at the same time, tools for reproduction.
If an omega was lucky, they would be chosen by a good alpha. Due to that, they could at least live through a better latter half of their life. Of course, he would not be able to stop giving birth.
The birth of an omega child came completely at random. Any couple, even one made up of ordinary betas, could produce an omega. The probability was difficult to quantify, but it was very certain that the birth rate of omegas was low.
Conversely, with the combination of an alpha and an omega, 80% of their children would be born as alphas. As for those alpha children, most of them would inherit the excellent genes of their alpha father and become an intelligent, valiant, and astute warrior.
That was the reason why the government attached such great importance to omegas.
Owing to the high probability of their children inheriting an exceptional bloodline, their fate of being born to reproduce was further cemented. It was a mission given to them by God, a mission they could not defy.
However, more than half of the omegas hated that sort of life. It was absolutely disgusting!
They may be omegas, but they were still human!
They wanted their own lives as well, they wanted human rights!
Unfortunately, no matter what, they were just too weak…
Under the guise of protection, they were imprisoned for life.
Seeing that, Shi Qing could not help but sigh. After experiencing life in the beastman world, Shi Qing wasn’t so repulsed by the matter of being able to give birth anymore. Especially since in the beastman world, beastmen and sub-beastmen also formed pairs. They actually seemed very similar to the alphas and omegas.
They were both attracted to each other, and got together to have children.
Even the fluctuation periods in the beastman world seemed similar to an omega’s heat.
Despite that…Those two were very different.
The sub-beastmen in the beastman world had way more power than an omega. Though sub-beastmen couldn’t fight, and though their animal forms were weak, and they also had to give birth, they had strong spiritual power.
They could appease the restless beastmen and they could activate the immense power inside of them. They could fight side by side with the beastmen!
They did not just submit to the beastmen. Their innate abilities alone could even overturn a regime.
Just like that madman Aimiya. He was both ambitious and fearless, and he used his own abilities to his advantage to rope in countless beastmen. Then, making good use of his own spiritual capabilities as a sub-beastman, he could even manipulate the chief, turning countless beastmen into his puppets.
Such sub-beastmen were not uncommon in the beastman world. Therefore, the ability of sub-beastmen made their statuses very different. Even if their bodies were not strong, no beastman would dare to underestimate them.
In comparison, the omegas in this world were completely abandoned.
They constantly tempted the alphas around them, were extremely fertile, and they also supported the inheritance of one’s bloodline. However, they did not have any ability to protect themselves at all. Even if several omegas stood up to fight against fate, they were still weak and powerless. Under this complete oppression, their resistance was no different from throwing pebbles into a lake. After a ripple, they quickly fell to the bottom.
It was like fate was teasing them…Even though they were indispensable existences and extremely rare, they were also existences that could be trampled on, ones devoid of dignity.
After reading the background introduction and thinking about the possibilities, Shi Qing kept away all the thoughts running in his imagination.
The host better not transmigrate into an omega, that would be too difficult!
It was even worse than the time when he transmigrated into Yi’er.
As for himself? He wasn’t too worried. It was such a cruel world, he definitely wouldn’t just head in recklessly. Especially now that he wasn’t lacking in points, he didn’t have to choose the random role anymore. When the time came, he could just rely on the convenience of being the system to make his own choice. Wouldn’t he be able to avoid the tragedy of being an omega then?
Maybe he could even choose to be an alpha and have some fun!
Damn, he still couldn’t help but fantasize. If he ended up transmigrating into a strong alpha while the host accidentally became an omega, then he would be able to protect him, right?!
Also…the he…heat…or whatever…
How would the host…look like…in heat?
The panda’s ears trembled subconsciously, and Shi Qing also could not help his face from turning red.
Qin Mo’s voice suddenly sounded. Shi Qing was startled and quickly blinked his eyes, tossing out all the nonsensical thoughts inside of his brain. Then, he muttered calmly, “The…the task seems very difficult this time!”
Qin Mo raised a brow. “Difficult? What’s the goal?”
Shi Qing, “…” Shit, he hasn’t even checked the mission goal yet! He doesn’t even know what they have to do! What do you mean it’s difficult!
No…he can’t let Qin Mo know what he was thinking in his mind. Quickly…swipe down…Anxiously, he tried to drag the scroll bar of the screen down, so he did not catch the flash of amusement in Qin Mo’s eyes.
—Not a bad world. One where he can mark Shi Qing completely, where he can dye him in his own smell forever, a world where he can declare him as his possession.
—Yes, very good.
After the introduction, what followed was a breakdown of the related plotlines.
This time, they were locked into a very powerful family in the world—the Ye family.
Three great generals originated from their family on the planet where the Ye family was located. Two were marshals, and one was the president. Such results established them as one of the top families in the Galactic Federation.
They had power, and they also produced excellent alphas in their family. Their bloodline was carried along through carefully selected omegas, and their lineage had always remained excellent.
The old Patriarch Ye was a marshal. Though he had already passed down his power and retired, he still kept his connections. In addition, the Ye family had a strong foundation that was built up through the centuries.
However, the five children he had were slightly below his expectations.
There were three alphas, one omega, and one beta.
It was good to have an omega, since omegas were tools for intermarriage. However, a beta bothered him a lot.
Fortunately, all three alphas inherited Patriarch Ye’s abilities, and were gifted since they were young.
Frankly speaking, however, having three alphas in that generation could not be considered too abundant.
Unexpectedly, the worst was yet to come. The eldest was a brave and fierce warrior in the army and managed to climb to the rank of lieutenant at his young age, but nobody expected that he would fall during a battle with the enemy.
In the end, they were left with a medal of honor. They already had a ton of these lifeless objects in the Ye family’s warehouse. What use were they!
What’s more, the eldest son left no children before his death. His bloodline was completely cut off!
For the white-haired Patriarch Ye to send off a man who still had black hair, his hair really could turn white overnight.
After that, he became even more attentive to his remaining children.
Out of his five children, only one was an omega. Because of how much he cared for his children, he managed to keep him from being sent to the Omega Association with some tricks, especially since this was where their family lineage was. He was kept at home the whole time, cared for with all the clothes and food he could want, and lived a pampered life.
Since they were worried about damaging his body, all the inhibitors they used cost their weight in gold. They were able to suppress his pheromones so he could go out for walks every so often, and it also allowed him to get along peacefully with his brothers.
While growing up, Patriarch Ye had already arranged for his marriage while he was still an infant, and the family he chose was his comrade of a good half of his life, the person he trusted the most, and that alpha was also a man the old patriarch had seen grow up with his own eyes. He definitely would not treat his son badly. Of course, this was also a marriage between two of the strongest families.
So, who could have thought that his son would actually run off before his marriage! He ran off! By himself!
Patriarch Ye was so angry that he fell over and nearly went down just like that.
Then, after that double blow, a third mallet came crashing down.
His second alpha son who gave him high hopes actually got tangled up with another alpha! Not to mention, he kicked up such a big fuss that everyone knew now! He even went on a crazy pursuit for him across the entire Federation. Not even a troop of donkeys could pull him back!
The old Patriarch was completely bedridden and he sighed for a long time.
His omega left five years ago, leaving him behind, alone. He truly felt alone at that moment. Even though he had five children, he still fell into such a pitiful situation.
He had two children left. An alpha and a beta.
The beta had been invisible since he was born, but he was still smart and capable. At present, he had also caught the old Patriarch’s eyes, and he treated him much better now as well.
On the other hand, the remaining alpha son was an unruly one. Fortunately, he was still alive and well, and of course, he didn’t run off with an alpha. His ability was pretty good, and though it was a little below satisfactory, the old Patriarch really had no other choice.
Right now, he needed to find a way to get an omega match for all three of his sons and let them have babies soon.
The Ye family could not end here!
The author has something to say:
Cough cough…Who did they transmigrate into…?
I love this arc, and hope you do too. Bless Shi Qing’s wishful thinking.
I have a recommendation I want to throw at you folks. There’s a novel being translated called “To Rule in a Turbulent World” and it is killing it. The setting is ancient China. It’s an older novel so the hanky-panky is a little more explicit. It’s written (under a pen name) by Feitian. His other works include my faves: Dinghai, Seizing Dreams, and more. Not to mention the translation quality is top notch. Things to expect from his novels are looong chapters, well developed characters, rich world building, and very thoughtful and thought-provoking prose. Not really casual reads. (Seizing Dreams is completely translated btw!!!)
If you want to read it, which I highly recommend, you can do so here.
