"When are you going to let her go?" King Rian asked Dairon, who was sitting on the white couch in his chamber. He walked to the large window and drew the curtains, turning to observe the demigod. "She is trouble."

"She is not. And I'm not going to let her go." He answered indifferently. Without a doubt, he knew who King Rian was referring to.

"She is Blaze's daughter." King Rian reminded him.

"I know." Dairon shrugged.

"Blaze will wreck havoc if it means getting her back from you."

"He can try that."

King Rian sat down on the couch opposite Dairon and rubbed his scruff. "Aren't you the most stubborn? Marina is head over heels for you. Maybe it would be safer for you to give her a chance and settle down with her."

Dairon straightened up. "I was wondering why you really called me. This is about the water gods, isn't it? Did Dylan make you say this to me?"

King Rian didn't give a direct answer. With a snap of his finger, a servant brought a bottle of wine and poured it into his glass. He held the glass up. "Dairon, it might be hard for you to believe me but I only agreed to speak to you about it because I think they are right. Dylan dislikes Jasmine. As long as you give her back to her rightful clan, you will neither be at loggerheads with him or Blaze. Two birds, one stone." He sipped his wine. "Oh right, since you will not have a partner after giving Jasmine away, Marina will be a great option. After all, neither of them is your fated mate. It doesn't matter who you end up with anymore. Not to mention, you will be accepted back to the clan as long as you marry Marina. It's actually killing four birds with one stone."

Dairon stood. "If I didn't know better, I would think we are enemies." Idiots would think that Dylan was offering him a chance to prove his loyalty and be accepted in the clan despite their differences with Alaya but in real sense, he was doing it all for Marina. Once she was married, she would belong to her husband's clan. Since Dairon belonged to none, all Dylan was doing was ensuring his granddaughter had a family after her marriage. How generous.

"King Rian, it was nice chatting with you. I should get going before Jasmine starts to miss me." He turned and left the room.

A female scent brushed past him on his way out. His brows knitted. Scarlet.

It was uncertain how much she had heard.

The latter flashed one of her fake smiles and knocked on the door of the chamber he had just left. He vaguely heard King Rian tell Scarlet to wait for him in the study.

"There you are. I was starting to think you chickened out when you heard that training would be intense." Jasmine teased Dairon when he finally materialized into the spacious room they were using for training.

"It will be intense for you, not for me." He teased back and leaned against the wall to watch. She had her hair in a low ponytail and was dressed up in a tight fitting bodysuit. She wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead and prepared to attack Sinos with her sword.

His gaze lingered on her body for a while until they started sparring. She was actually in control of her powers and attacked Sinos like a human would.

"Wait." He frowned when he realized what was wrong with her clothes. "Why are you playing with real swords while dressed in clothes that wouldn't do anything to protect you from them?"

She pushed her sword into Sinos's chest in demonstration. "Their blades are retractable."

While she was distracted, Sinos tried to topple her only for him to counterattack and 'stab' him again. "You can't kill me so easily anymore, Sinos."

"She's a monster." Sinos exaggerated. Just a while ago, he had been teaching her some moves but all of a sudden, it was as though something had snapped in her. She had become extraordinarily swift and doled out the most unexpected moves. While she was still lacking in strength, one could say that her speed saved her ass when it was needed.

She giggled and rushed towards Dairon, aiming to attack him while he was still enjoying the show. He grabbed her wrist so hard that the sword fell out of her hand. With a swift move, he backed her against the wall. "There is only one way for you to kill me and it has nothing to do with battles and swords."

Sinos's ears flushed. "I guess I should give the two of you some privacy."

When Sinos left, she placed a hand on his shoulder and teased him. "You look like you ran into a jinx."

He pulled her in for a hug. "Actually, I did."

"You did?" She had just been joking and didn't expect it to be true.

"Yeah. Her name is Scarlet."

That was indeed a jinx and she was not ready to think about it. "Where did you go?"

"To King Rian's castle." He didn't want to say anything more of what had happened but when he remembered her expression from the day before, he couldn't help talking about it. "He encouraged me to marry Marina."

"He… what?" Her voice was louder than she wanted it to be. Her chest heaved. "What's wrong with that goddess? Can't she tell that you don't like her? She had to go ahead and get her grandparents involved in this?"

"How did you know that she got her grandparents involved? " He laughed, enjoying her expression that was more fired up than she knew.

"It's not hard to guess. Alaina said that you were cousins and that she could easily get her grandfather to make you marry her. She wasn't exactly wrong after all." She didn't know why it displeased her so much that some seductive goddess could easily get her hands on Dairon. She didn't want to be with him, she should let him be with someone who wanted him, right? That thought made her want to burn someone's boobs when she remembered them trying to sandwich his arm between them.

"Did you agree?" She asked, her tone coming off stern when she merely wanted it to be an ordinary question.

"I don't know. I'm still thinking about it." He intentionally teased her.

Her expression dimmed. "I see. Good luck with that. I should get going. I wanted to look for Alaina to have a chat."

He grabbed her arm as she brushed past him. "Why are you wishing me good luck with other females? Didn't I make myself clear when we met?"

"About what?" She didn't want to look him in the eye.

He pushed her back against the wall and slid the back of his forefinger down the side of her face. "That you are mine. Why do I need Marina when I have you?"

She remained silent, which was a better response than the "I'm not yours!" that she kept yelling at him every time he told her that she was his.

"Speaking of Alaina, I saw her earlier and she was looking for you."

She jabbed his side with her elbow and glared at him. "And you didn't tell me?"

"I only had you in my eyes and in my mind. I forgot all about her until you mentioned meeting her."

She ignored his crap and made her way to the door.

"Let's go sightseeing when you are done, okay?" He suggested. She nodded and walked out.

Finding Alaina was not hard. The latter must have been told where she was, so they bumped into each other in the hallway.

"There you are, Jasmine. I've been trying to find you." She pulled her into a brief hug.

"Did something happen?" She asked.

"No, I just wanted to hang out." Alaina led the way out. "What did you decide regarding Goddess Marina's tea party? Will you come along?"

She realized that she had forgotten to ask Dairon whether he would attend. Why did she need to know?

"I'm not sure I'm one of the people she wants to see."

Alaina hummed in response. "Trust me. She does want to see you there." She took out a scroll. "This is an invitation specifically for you. If you decide to go, we can go together but I should give you a heads up. It's not unheard of for her to use tea parties to humiliate goddesses and demigoddesses she thinks are trying to 'steal' Dairon from her."

This is in response to the discord and Instagram dms about the romance being a bit on the slow side.

Please note that although the book is at chapter 75, it's been less than a month since Jasmine and Vivian went to the cruise ship. A lot has happened since then. Not to mention, it has only been a little over two weeks since she first met Dairon. It's a little over the top to expect them to have already fallen in love and have kids on the way.
