I went and inspected the hidden passage after I parted with Elliot, but as expected, I couldn’t find any important leads. The main culprit, Tarkashire, was already caught and Elliot was safe, but it still left me unsatisfied.
But I only had two hands. I couldn’t chase the masked man while I had Tarkashire seized. Either way, he would probably confess everything, so there was no need to try so hard.
The path led to the front garden of the mansion, the door installed near the fences. One of the fences could be removed so you could escape outside.
“I wonder why these wealthy fellows like these… escape paths?”
I bet Maxwell’s familiar would’ve answered that if it was with me… but it was currently attending Elliot. It had to explain the situation to the guards that were probably already rushing to this place, so it had to stay behind.
Even after I inspected the surroundings, I, unfortunately, could not discover that man.
“He escaped, it seems. Oh well, can’t be helped.”
If Elliot wasn’t captured, I would’ve stayed hidden and eliminated them one by one without missing a single one… Oh well, can’t be too greedy now.
“At any rate, this form is attracting too much attention. Gotta find a place to revert to my original form.”
This beautified, grown form that I ended up with through Maxwell’s supervision was attracting a lot of attention. If I kept going as is, someone was bound to hit on me again. God damn it, where did I go wrong in my life to end up being hit on.
Avoiding the public gaze that started to grow, I returned back to my normal form. My limbs returned to their usual length, and my squishy legs covered by my knee socks and skirt came in sight.
…I couldn’t see any muscle gain no matter how long passed.
I wanted to avoid wearing a skirt, but Finia and Cortina’s combo was too strong and they made sure to check my appearance before I headed out.
I could just slip out unnoticed, but slipping out of your house every day would be pretty silly. Besides, I planned to go with the illusion for most of the day today, so I decided it wouldn’t matter.
“There’s quite a lot of time left for the day. Should I go waste time somewhere… Wait, I have to wash up before that.”
I was all bloody on my upper half. If I walked in the city like this, I’d be caught even if I left the crime scene.
Fortunately, Raum’s capital had a river flowing through it where people could go do their laundry and such. Oh well, with my ability, I could get close to the river without being seen.
Thus, after I went and washed the blood off my clothes and body there, I decided to temporarily return home to change clothes, then decided to hit the Cafe that Elliot introduced me to before.
Their dessert has left quite an impression on me. There was no harm if I enjoyed it without Elliot there.

The next day, Elliot showed up as if nothing had happened. I was relieved to see Priscilla next to him.
From what I saw, she had broken ribs, damaged internal organs and a big horizontal slash. She was so injured it was hard to even look at.
Maxwell was quite something to heal her to a point she’d be able to get back to work the next day. It wasn’t quite as fast as Maria, but his performance did not lose to her in any other way.
As the lunch break came, I went with Michelle and others in the courtyard for the first time in a while to have lunch. In the middle of it, I saw a strange scene through the window that could be seen from the courtyard.
It was the back of Maxwell as he sat on his desk, and Elliot who was pressing him for answers. Elliot had always respected us Six Heroes, so it was quite rare of him to be so heated up over something.
“Sorry, something came up.”
“Huh, again?”
I haven’t had time to have lunch with the girls in some time, so Letina asked in disappointment. Michelle was looking just as sad.
Still, that situation was abnormal. I had to go and make sure.
“Sorry about this. As an apology, I’ll invite you to a delicious shop later.”
“Ohh!? Well, it can’t be helped then…”
“Really? Yaay!”
Letina tried to play it off, but her expression was looking just as excited as Michelle.
She never gave off that noble feel, but at this point, that was becoming one of her charming points. I wished she would grow up the way she was, without being tainted by the noble society.
“Well, then, later!”
I had no time to admire Letina right now. I bid them goodbye quickly and rushed into the academy building while fluttering my skirt. Kabby on my head squealed in dissatisfaction, but the situation looked quite grim.
I can’t imagine them having discord. The Six Heroes were like parents to him. Besides, even if he was a rear guard, Maxwell was still an experienced combatant. I couldn’t see Elliot even managing to put a finger on him.
Still, there was that one in a thousand possibility of him taken by surprise. Imagining the worst-case scenario, I reached the board chairman’s room on the first floor. Just as I did, Elliot opened the door and rushed outside.
“That’s it, I’m going back!”
“Wait, Elliot, come back!”
Hearing Maxwell’s voice from inside made me feel temporarily relieved. But seeing Elliot’s face made me stiffen once more. I’ve never seen such a stern expression on his face before.
Elliot looked startled when he noticed me nearby. But he quickly put up his usual gentle expression. Still, he couldn’t completely conceal it, which told me just how angry he was.

“Oh my, Nicole. I’m sorry, did I startle you?”
“N-No…”
He crouched down in front of me to match my gaze and explained the situation, like a gentleman. But that made the veins on his temples all the more obvious.
“I’m sorry, I just had something I couldn’t accept and it turned into a quarrel with Lord Maxwell… Well, we did not exactly fight.”
“Well, that’s good to hear, I guess?”
“Haha, looks like I still have a long to go seeing how I made you worry about me… The way I am, I can’t…”
“What’s the matter?”
“No… Nevermind.”
After hesitating a bit, Elliot stood back up. It was obvious that he intended to end this conversation at that.
“Excuse me, then. I have somewhere to go now.”
“Y-Yeah. Goodbye.”
Being at a loss for words, I could do nothing but see his retreating figure off.
That was fine, though. I just had to ask Maxwell for the particulars.
