Chapter 15: We Are Done!!

“Listen to me..Sherry!! Don’t act like a high school teenage girl.” Chris’s last thread that was holding back his sanity snapped when faced with the cold and apathetic face of Sherry. It was as if she had given up on him completely.

“Chris…I am tired. I want to rest.” Sherry pulled her hand back from his grasp. She had loved this man who was bright, responsible and honest for her whole life so when he acted this way, it just made her feel more miserable.

He was slowly destroying the image she had of him in her mind. Sherry hoped they could break up in good terms so that Bella could be happy with him. They even had a kid who was growing healthily in Bella’s stomach.

As a doctor, Sherry herself was the one who had taken care of all her test and health care check up. So, in other way, she was like a nanny who took care of the baby before it was born.

Just for the sake of the child in Bella’s womb, Sherry wanted to let go of Chris. By humiliating him in public and making his image fall down, she was going to let him off the hook.

“Don’t make it harder on me than it already is.” Sherry thought about all of their encounters in a brief second and felt it really was the time for her to say good bye to all of it.

“Sh…” Chris tried opening his mouth but looking at the defeated expression on her face he was short of words. Never in his life had he ever seen that look on her face; that face which looked as bright as sun in any kind of situation.

Sherry’s face had lost its luster as of now, which came off as a shock to Chris.

“Don’t you have to take care of my best friend?” taking the chance Sherry decided to make him spill the truth. If he really loved Bella, she hoped he will accept it and end things with her for once and for all.

All this time, little Sherry had been thinking she was killed off by them because she was a third wheel in their affair.

But little did she know, the darkness behind the scene.

“Bella?” Chris figured out what she was trying to say. Finally, a cold air seeped in to his lungs as he thought about the scenario where Sherry knew all about their affair all this time.

If that was the case then all the act he put just now, all his hard earned excuses and even his pity act were all seen through by Sherry.

Which meant..

‘All this time, was I making a fool out of myself? And she was enjoying the show?’ Chris stared at Sherry even more hatefully.

“I know all about it , Chris. You and Bella. I know all about it.” Sherry sighed and said the truth all by herself since it seemed to her he was not trying to speak the truth.

“I-We…WE are not dating…What are you saying?” Chris stuttered a little bit as he looked at Sherry’s calm face.

She was looking unusually calm for saying such a big news. The old maid who was standing beside her heard what Sherry had just told.

She widened her eyes showcasing her bewilderment and how unbelievable it was.

“Mister Chris and the friend of young miss??” She repeated the name and looked at Sherry.

“Miss, Young miss…what do you mean by that?” The old maid asked with a horrified expression but she already understood what was going on.

“Aigoo…Young miss…” Her heart stopped beating for a few seconds and she could feel herself getting weak. The news was too big for her old heart.

“Aunty, please go to your room and take a rest. I will come and see you later.” Sherry went and rubbed her back to soothe her and softly asked her to leave them alone.

What she was about to say next was even a bigger news so she hoped she could be alone with Chris. She did not want her to listen to it.

“Bella and we are just….” Chris was still trying to defend himself to Sherry who was watching the old maid walk away from the room.

“Stop Chris..You are making me disappointed.” Sherry stopped him in middle of his sentence. She walked near him and approached him in a few steps.

She brought her lips near to his ear and spoke in a soft voice.

“I also know that the baby in Bella’s stomach was yours.” Sherry whispered coming near to him.

“What? W-What are y-you s-say-ing? Ha ha ha… Y-you a-are mad Sh-herry.” Chris was stuttering much faster than before probably because he was caught off guard by her.

“I am the doctor who took care of her. I looked after her for 8 months Chris.. Don’t you think with my ability I am more than capable of knowing it?” Sherry smiled bitterly at him.

Although she wished to grab his collar and shake him till his brain membrane mixed to form a mixture, she calmed herself.

She wanted to cry and shout at him saying she knew it all, she saw it all; him cheating on her and how she was reborn to make life hell for them.

But she stopped herself from doing so. She was given a second chance and she knew it was to learn the truth about how sickly and hypocritical the people around her were.

“….”, Chris had no place to defend himself as she placed all of the facts right before him. If she was just speculating then he could have denied them but it was truth that Sherry was the one who took care of Bella all this time during her pregnancy.

“Face it Chris, You and I , we are done.” Sherry patted his chest heavily, her face scrunched up in an ugly sneer.

“You are a fucking piece of shit for me….So I am giving you to Bella. That will be her punishment for betraying my trust.” Sherry shrugged her shoulder.

“So, do not ever come to me and give my blessings to Bella as well.” Sherry removed her hand from his chest.

“And I hope you two live happily ever after in your small lovey dovey world.” She clasped her hand in front of head and showed him a praying gesture.

‘Can’t let her go!’ A dark figure raced in his mind and he immediately cowered in fear as he remembered what he had been said.

“Ring Ring Ring!!” His phone rang in his pocket making him spring up from where he was standing. He felt as if he was woken up from his night mare by the phone ring.

With trembling hands, he took out his phone and looked at the caller ID.

It was from the hospital where Bella was currently admitted.
