Who would have thought that I would end up traveling the plains to find Bara and her friends. I had been quite contempt with my life at the Inn that I had build myself. I never thought I would be chasing after them barely two days later.
Finding them was not as easy as I thought as it would. They had horses and more than a day time to move through the plains. My only chance was that they traveled more or less in a straight line, from the direction they had left my Inn. If they only deviated a small bit from their line of travel I could have a chance of sensing or seeing them allowing me to reunite with them. However I had no high hopes anymore, the plains slowly ended and with this they could have found another route based on a landmark or so. If that had happened my chances of reuniting was basically zero. The only other thing I could do was head for the castle of the Demonlord and wait there for them, but that would only be a waste of time.
Suddenly my sixth sense started to pick something up. I felt the magical presences of a monster. It was not strong, but definitely powerful enough that I clearly felt it at the edge of my perception.
When I reached the top of text hill I could see it. It was a giant green lizard. I never had seen such an animal. It was moving around in a weird pattern, charging in one direction, stopping turning around and charging in another direction. Only then did I realize that it was fighting something and that the presence I had felt belonged not to the lizard, but to one of the attackers. There were three attackers. They were to far as away as that I could see their faces or other fine details. However I could see their silhouette and the main color their were clad in. Two of them were clad in a dark green making it even harder to see them from distance. The third one was brown in color, with orange almost red color on top.
Its Bara and her friends! I can’t believe I found them! I should approach them after they have finished their business with this overgrown lizard. I started to collect magic energy or mana, however you want to name it, in my hands ready to be formed to a spell in a fraction of a second, just in case I needed to help. Sure I could run over and help, but then I would lose sight of them for a moment, in which something dangerous could happen. By staying here I could fire a spell and then head over, if it got dangerous. I doubt something dangerous would happen but you never now.
The overgrown lizard had stopped once again to change direction, Charles and Henry were doing a pretty got job at distracting the lizard. Bara was just circling the lizard. I think she was just waiting for the perfect moment. And sure enough this time she acted vaulting from here horse straight towards the lizard. Materializing something in her raised hand to defeat the lizard. However the lizard turned his head. Even from her I could see that Bara was about to miss. I quickly released the mana I had collected as a speed enhanced wind spell. The spell zipped past the hills straight into the lizards head, bringing it back into Baras range. There was no sound that followed the spell, for that I had removed it in fear that it might have traveled faster than sound.
Bara didn't hesitate or flinch, when my spell hit the lizard and sunk her weapon in its skull. With blood splashing from its head, when it fell to the ground.
After a moment of waiting I ran over to Bara and her companions, to meet up with them and join up on their journey.

“Erin!? What happened? I thought you wanted to stay at your Inn?”
I worriedly asked. I scanned her from head to toe, but she didn’t seem to be hurt, nor did she look like she had been in any sort of trouble. Even her kimono was free from any signs of damage. We all stared at her eager to her what had brought her here to us.
“The demons happened. They blew up my Inn.”
“I’m sorry for unintentional leading them to you.”
I felt sorry for her. Henry and Charles felt sorry to although I couldn’t see their faces. Erin however didn’t look to bothered by what had transpired. She looked as calm as ever. I dismissed my axe, which I was still holding and prepared myself to clean myself of the blood. Before I could do so Erin created a bubble of Water above my head, having guessed my intention. After she had cleaned me of the blood with the water she conjured a hot guest of wind drying my almost instantly. After that she sat herself down using magic.
“Please explain what happened in detail.”
“Don’t worry you are not at fault and I don’t blame you.”
I sighed happily. I kind of knew that she wasn’t angry at us, but I was still worried. Henry and Charles to sighed having the weight of of their shoulders of being hated by a possible new friend.
“The demons blew up my Inn yesterday evening. They didn’t even enter the Inn. They just blew it up, the moment they saw it. That's why I don’t blame you.” (Erin)
“They saw it and blew it up!? Just because?” (Henry)
“Yes. Apparently demons are just a bunch of assholes, who blow up innocent Inns in the middle of nowhere.” (Erin)
“And what happened to the Demons? Did you run away or did you fight them?” (Charles)
“I beat them up of course and took their Horns. Here have a look!” (Erin)
Erin grabbed in her sleeve and brought forth four horns. They were unmistakably demonhorns. Two pairs of Horns intact. I was surprised. I never thought of breaking off horns of humanoid creatures.
“Am I right in the assumption that you let them live?” (Charles)

“Yes you are right. I thought about eliminating them, but then I decided to break of their horns. I was curious how a demon with broken horns is treated. Do you know?” (Erin)
“I don’t. But I have to admit I have yet to com across a demon so I can’t help you in that matter. But why did you go after us?” (Bara)
“Well I had the choice between rebuilding the Inn AGAIN, or doing something else. SO I decided to join up with you, in order to get a compensation from the Demonlord, for destroying my Inn.” (Erin)
“So you like to speak to the manager of the demons and demand a compensation.” (Bara)
Erin laughed at my joke, whilst Henry and Charles looked confused at each other not knowing the reason, why its funny to Erin and myself. With that our conversation ended and we started to dismantle the Landwyvern. Its head was unusable but we could harvest its scales and bones for weapons and armor. Sadly a Landwyvern flesh is poisonous so we had to burn it or so it won’t lie around unused and rot. Erin insisted on having a small piece of the meat, bones and scales for her own research. She stored it all in the sleeve of her Kimono. I suspect it’s connected in some way to her storage.
“What’s that for an overgrown lizard exactly?” (Erin)
“This overgrown lizard is a Landwyvern. A large monster closely related to the Wyvern even if it looks like a giant green lizard. Its surprisingly fast for its size and as though as a Wyvern. Its main difference is its missing wings and its inability to breath fire.” (Henry)
“So essentially an overgrown lizard, that is called Landwyvern, because of biology.” (Erin)
“More or less, yes. But please don’t talk about the fact that we have killed one.” (Bara)
“Why?” (Erin)
“Landwyverns and Wyverns are only hunted by legendary Individuals and I don’t want more publicly.” (Bara)
“And especially don’t mention that it was killed in one hit!” (Charles)
“I understand, but is the publicly that bad?” (Erin)
“Yes. All those leeches and bootlickers that will come. It’s just disgusting!” (Bara)
We finished taking apart the Landwyvern relatively fast thanks to Erin setting the “waste” aflame and burning it down within minutes. We stored the Harvested materials in our storage's so that no one could accidentally find parts of it and make a fuss. After that we climbed our horses once again to commence our travel.
“Come on Irwin can handle us both!”
I reached down to Erin to help her up. Irwin was strong enough to carry us both, despite the luggage . The only problem would be space but we could manage. Most importantly I couldn’t just let her walk alongside us if I could offer her a ride.
“Thanks, but no thanks. I like to run.”
“Really? Are you sure? Your not inconveniencing me or Irwin. You don’t have to walk.”
“Don’t worry I like to run. Focusing just on running and my surroundings feels great, far better than sitting on Horseback.”
“Okay, if it’s your decision. The offer still stands.”
However Erin didn’t take my over and opted to jog alongside us. Easily keeping up with the horses for several hours, till evening. The following days Erin still opted to jog alongside us and didn’t complain when we stopped slowing down for her and started to run at the pace the horses felt the most comfortable. Erin truly seemed to enjoy it.
Luckily for us, we didn’t encounter any other monsters that we had to eliminate on our remaining trip. We didn’t even run in other humanoids, be it merchants or thugs. This was mainly because we were on no road used by travelers. On our fourth day of travel we finally reached our destination. The frontier town of the Eclan kingdom. The last great Town before the great wild and the demon country. Ironwall the town where so called heroes would meet to decide whether to preemptively attack the Demonlord or not.
I think I am trying to continue using first person.
