'Oh...' Nemu thought. 'That's the place Milim blew away, right?' He shouldn't mention this...

"That's the place Milim blew away, right?" Trewy asked Nemu. Trewy... She really needed to learn when was the right timing for something like this.

As expected, the three rabbitmen were totally shocked. They had never set foot in the Beast Kingdom. Yet their ancestors have always spoken reverently of this place. For them, it was a sacred place. And that it was destroyed... The rabbit people considered themselves as part of the beastmen, so it made them sad to lose such a place.

"Right." Nemu sighed. Now there was no reason to hold anything back either. "A few months ago, the Demon Queen Milim attacked the Beast Kingdom and destroyed most of the capital, including the sacred mountain. Carrion became Milim's subordinate and Eurazania became a part of her domain." After hearing the story, Nemu now knew why Carrion had become Milims subordinate. The law of the strongest applied to every beastman, even their leader.

"But... Then what happened to Eurazania?" The elder asked quietly. He had not yet understood the situation.

"Eurazania is currently being rebuilt with the help of Tempest and Rimuru. Rimuru and Milim are allies. A lot has happened in the last few years, not only in the Jura Forest, but all over the world. But... Things should have calmed down now. At least, I hope so." Said Nemu. He should not mention that Nemu and Milim were friends. Wait... Nooooo.

"Aren't you friends with Milim?" Trewy asked innocently.

"That... Is another Milim." Nemu didn't want to complicate the situation.

"There are two Demon lord Milims?" Asked Trewy and raised her brow.

"No... I know Milim, okay? We've talked a few times, but nothing more than that. I wouldn't call us friends. She's just someone I know." Nemu tried to explain. For the Rabbitmen, the situation was shocking. Beastmen saw themselves as the strongest race, of course there were other strong races but still they were on top. Rabbitmen in the village never heard of Milim. Actually, they had little idea about the outside world and they didn't care. However, the person they considered the strongest, was defeated and is now a subordinate of another person... And not only that, the little slime in front of them knew this powerful person? After the events of yesterday, they thought they could not be surprised anymore. But, well, they were wrong. Trewy just made a big mess.

"You know the person who defeated the Demonlord Carrioron?" This time the elder's son spoke in a shaky voice. Who is this slime? He already told them that he knows Veldora and the newly appointed Demonlord Rimuru.

"She is... different than you think." Nemu said. They probably imagined Milim as the most bloodthirsty monster, but... they couldn't be more wrong. Although Nemu wasn't sure if there wasn't a site on Milim he hadn't seen before.

Silence.

Nemu looked at Trewy somewhat angrily. At first, she didn't understand what Nemu's problem was. But after thinking about it... "Ah! I shouldn't have said that!"

Nemu sighed in resignation. They had to work on Trewys social skills.

"I think we got distracted." Said the elder's daughter. Everyone nodded. Even Nemu. Or he tried to, instead, his slime body wobbling. He still hadn't worked on it, Trewy laughed out loud, and even the rabbits couldn't help but giggle. At least the previous topic was now over.

At last the woman could continue. "This is how we had to live our lives. Always on the precipice of society. Even if we had talents we couldn't use them. Though the military of the Beast Kingdom is not particularly large, half of its population belongs to a warrior race. Eurazania specializes in agricultural production. They have large swaths of plantations dedicated to growing fruits. That is where we retreated to. We lived on farms. We had long since given up on training anyone from our race. But even on farms there were problems. Of course, we had to pay taxes. It wasn't really a bad life, but it was hard work, most of the farms were run by races that were physically stronger than us. Still, we had to keep up and that caused a lot of problems."

"So that's why you left the Beast Kingdom?" Trewy asked.

"Well, that was the beginning. Many felt that they were treated unfairly. No... They didn't just feel that way. It was like this. In the beginning, only some thought they could leave the country. And they did. After a few weeks, they found this place." Said the rabbit. Nemu knew the distances well by now. And from the beast kingdom to... to this place? That's not a distance you could cover in a few weeks. They must have been traveling for months. The rabbit girl didn't lie, probably her ancestors told it falsely to justify the decision. Or... They were more desperate than they wanted to admit.

"After a while, the group that had gone into the forest returned and told our ancestors about this place. And that they could have a better life here. I can't say exactly what happened then, but eventually most of the rabbit people decided to leave the beast kingdom. The other races didn't even care, some were even happy about it and made jokes. That's why, to this day, we have no interest in returning. In the meantime, there are more tribes of rabbit people in the Jura Forest. We have contact with some of them, but honestly, we don't know how many there are in total.”

The elder already knew the story. But the son of the elder had never heard it in full. It was clear that he was disappointed with how his ancestors were treated and why they had left the Beast Kingdom. It hurt his pride. He was a rabbit man, but he was also a beast man. That his ancestors were treated this way... He didn't get angry or emotional, he was just disappointed.

"I think that's the whole story." Concluded the rabbit woman. "Life here was not necessarily easier. But no one treated us badly and we could do what we wanted."

"Hmm... so that's how it is." Nemu said. Actually, he had expected something like that, at least the direction. There is a lot of information about beastmen, because they try to display their strength in public whenever they can. But about rabbit people there is no information. Only that they are a peaceful race. Nemu did not know how important strength was in the Beast Kingdom. He had read about it, but still underestimated it. In retrospect, it was probably the right decision to leave the Beast Kingdom. There wasn't even a reason for loyalty, since the other races were happy to get rid of them.

This world is really unfair. Even before birth, one's place in society is determined without ever being able to change it. The only counterexample to this would be humans. If you are strong you become a fighter, if you are smart you become a merchant and for every other talent there is a place in society. Your destiny is not determined. Maybe that was the reason why humans survived until today. Physically they were inferior to almost all other races. Yet they controlled most of the known world. For Nemu, humans were particularly interesting. He had seen some in Tempest, all of them were nice, but in the stories of Kumo and the Rabbit tribe they were not nice. Although in Kumo's story, there were nice humans. It seems that humans are a very diverse species. He will visit them! Nemu decided. Hopefully he will not meet the bandits.

After a while they got up and went outside again. It was busy in the village. The hunted animals were processed, the storages were almost filled again, it was cleaned up and the children played. The elder sighed with relief and smiled. This is how his village should look. Still, the next few months would be hard.

Nemu and Trewy stayed in the Rabbit Tribe for two more days. Even though they already had their next destination, there was no reason for them to hurry. With their abilities, they were able to help and they wanted to take advantage of that.

After two days, a surprising visitor arrived. It was Souei. One of the Onis from Tempest. Nemu thought that he looked very handsome with his dark blue hair and blue eyes. He looks incredibly calm and collected, which goes well with his confident personality. He always reminded Nemu of a ninja from a manga Veldora recommended to him.

Souei had a great ability. He could create clones of himself. That's why he was in charge of finding all the known tribes in Jura Forest and inviting them to Tempest. It was Rimuru's job to speak to each of the tribe leaders. Since Nemu broke the crystal ball and a personal conversation was not possible because the Rabbittribe had a crisis at the moment, Souei brought another crystal ball.

At first Nemu thought he should be present in the conversation, since he made the first contact, but he decided against it. It wasn't his business. Besides, he really wanted to visit the slime cave.

So Trewy and Nemu decided to leave the rabbit tribe on the morning of the third day. The entire tribe gathered in front of the entrance when they were about to leave.

"Are you sure you don't want to stay a little longer?" Asked the elder. Some of the rabbits nodded. Most of the children looked sad. In the last days Nemu had distributed all his toys in the village. Of course, he could not take them back. Only one card game he had not passed on. The same card game with which he had previously played with Trewy.

"Yes. It is time. We still have a long way to go." Trewy said and looked into the dense forest. "But we will surely meet you again!"

Nemu agreed. The tribe was still in trouble. The last three days... while fun at times, it was still very busy. They really wanted to see what the village would look like after it recovered.

"Maybe in Tempest." Actually, Nemu didn't know how the conversation went, but he wasn't worried either. He knew Rimuru and knew there wouldn't be any problems. And once the tribe recovered, surely some of the rabbit people would visit Tempest. Fortunately, there was even a road nearby. So they didn't have to walk all the way through the forest. It would take them two days to march to reach the road to Tempest and from then on it would be safe.

Nemu did not know this and had only heard it from the 'elder who was told by Rimuru. He knew the roads before leaving Tempest, but he had underestimated the speed of the orcs, they had an incredible speed and the road was already much further than a few weeks ago. But not only the road that was built was built incredibly fast, there were magical artifacts that kept monsters off the roads and the goblin riders immediately started patrolling.

Of course, it was a coincidence that the road was built nearby. The real target was the Sorcerer's Dynasty Sarion. The home of the elves. Even with the speed of the orcs, it would take months for them to reach the borders. So a connection to the rabbit tribe was not yet to be thought of. But maybe in the future.

The elder nodded when Nemu mentioned Tempest. So the conversation went well? As expected.

But that was not all. After the elder said goodbye, all the Rabbitmen came to Trewy and Nemu and said goodbye in person. Only when it was almost noon, the two left the tribe.

It was... a bittersweet adventure. For both of them. Finding a tribe under these circumstances was.... sad. Fortunately, after they left the tribe, the Rabbitmen were better.

Especially Trewy was happy. Not only had she helped the Rabbitmen herself, she was also proud that the Dryads had been here before and could protect the tribe. Trewy didn't know if her sisters knew what had happened to the Rabbit tribe, but she would tell them later.

And so, they both left the village with a smile.
