"Yes?" She asked and looked at them stopping in her tracks.
"Wait until Kakashi is here. I do not want to leave you running around unsupervised." The Hokage empathised.
Obediently, Gene settled down at the window still and waited. With dangling legs, she decided to enjoy the peace and calm. After seeing the dead lining the streets, the fires and the senseless slaughter, the noises from the streets were pure Bliss. It was relieving to see, hear and feel the pulse of life like this.
After a while, she didn't know when someone entered through the window right between her and Shisui. He was about the same age as Shisui with gray hair and wearing a face mask, covering one eye with his Shinobi emblem.
"Sandaime." He greeted and didn't pay any attention to them.
"Kakashi, you are here good." The Sandaime pointed to them. "I want you to supervise the girl, Gene."
Kakashi tilted his head and watched her with eagle eyes. "Make certain she is no spy, Shisui is vouching for her, so it is just precaution and hopefully me being paranoid."
"Hokage I am very much able to continue my usual duty." He said with a blank voice.
"Kakashi, no, you are not. Minato agrees with me in this to, she will be your duty for now." The Hokage said. "Your task is to have an eye for her and make certain that she finds a foothold in Konoha."
Kakashi mustered her and wordlessly took the order with a tilt of his head. She did the same. Kakashi Hatake was not very tall, and his face mask perfectly concealed whatever expression.
"Hello, I am Genevieve." She introduced herself and stretched out her hand, but he simply remained still. "Ähm okay." She hesitated and took the hand back. "I will be going to the Uchiha Compound, most likely, and would like to do some sightseeing. Is that okay with you?"
Silence.
Gene felt even more awkward than before, looking at Shisui who helplessly shrugged his shoulders. "Okay. Shisui, see you later." She waved him and swing her legs outside and standing outside. "Take care, eat something and don't get lost." Shisui called after her. Stretching and touching her bow she smiled at hearing the laughter raising from the streets.
She looked back to see Kakashi, but he was three steps behind her, unmoving and with a blank expression. Strange, he seemed like a frozen puppet. Almost emotionless everything buried somewhere.
She jumped down into the street and landed almost soundless. Kakashi landed behind her like a ghost, precisely three steps behind her.
"Ähm, you can come closer and speak with me. Please." She asked hesitatingly and earned another blank look.
"This is the appropriate distance, conversation is not needed." He answered and she blinked.
She waited for anything more from him, but nothing came. Silence only silence. Deciding it was better to leave him be she walked on.
I wonder what happened to him. No one has eyes that emotionless bleak without reasons.
Thinking about it, she shook her head, deciding it was not her issue. It was best to keep the fingers out of such things, it only brought problems and trouble.
"Then in which direction lives the Uchiha Clan?" She asked. He remained silent and said nothing. She shrug her shoulders and looked around in search of food.
Ichiraku Ramen
Happily and excited she counted the Ryo left and stormed inside.

"Hello." She called out and waited.
"Ah. Hello little Miss, what can I do for you?" A young man in his twenties asked, and she smiled. "Ramen please." She asked, and the man nodded smilingly.
"Kakashi do you want some too?" She turned around and asked but again only earned silence.
Really, food normally always works, but he is still silent.
"Boy, you are welcome at my place, regardless of what others say." The man behind the counter said and put the Ramen in front of her. Remembering the first time she had a full meal without grim circumstances, she smiled. It felt like an eternity since she arrived here even touch it wasn't even three weeks ago.
I wonder what the shopkeeper means with that.
Clapping her hands as it was tradition here, Shisui taught her she dogged in. She still held her chopsticks in a strange way while eating, but it worked.
This is the best ever.
Behind her made a strange sound, and she turned around to the still standing there Kakashi.
"Want some?" She asked and earned another silent but blank look.
Maybe, but maybe not. I cannot judge him with that mask.
She took her ramen bowl, stepped towards him, but he didn't move, simply stayed. "Here" she shoved her bowl into his hands. "You can have half." She said and Kakashi looked at it hesitatingly taking it from her.
"You need to take of your mask to eat."
He hesitated again before placing the bowl on the counter and taking down his mask. Picking up a new pair of chopsticks, he started eating slowly.
She climbed up the chair next to him and watched, smiling. "See, tastes real good." She said and earned another grumpy sound.
The man behind the counter smiled fondly. "This one is on the house. It's not everyday I see two cute children li..."
"I am a Shinobi, not a Child." Kakashi interrupted him and stepped away, retreating three steps behind her. Looking at that Gene suppressed a sigh.
Seems there will be little getting along with my, well guard, watchdog, babysitter, I don't know for now.
"Ähm, let's head towards the Uchiha okay? Can you show me the way? I mean down in the streets, not the rooftop one." She asked him, and he simply turned around a bit and waited for her.
"Okay, thank you, Sir." She waved goodbye to the male behind the counter and walked past an entering redhead woman with a bright grin calling out. "Two special Ramen please."
Out in the streets, he walked ahead like a machine. Gene had to hurry for keeping up and little time to look around. "Could you please slow down a bit?" She requested and he did so.
Somewhat out of breath she continued following her with her legs slowly starting to hurt.
