Chapter 42: Chapter 41 – The test and now official

"So here we are, Nara Household." She said and put Gene on the floor who swayed a little. 

"Shikaku." She announced and looked around. Now she just had to find someone. Someone around here. Picking up a bit more of speed, she ran around the corner and spotted a person in the distance. "Wait!" She shouted and hurried after that person and caught them at the corner of their clothes. "I have a question." She said, and looked upwards at the very displeased official. He looked like an official at least, she wasn't certain. "Shikaku-san, where is he?" She asked urging him.

"I do not see why a twerp like you should have the need to kn...Kushina!" The man hitched as he looked through her, and something cracked behind her. "Shikaku-san is in the Tearoom." The man answered and picked up his robes and started walking backwards before running. 

"Than..." 

"You don't need to thank that arrogant waste, come on, I show you the Tearoom." She grabbed Gene by her clothes and carried her determined through the villa like house. Gene felt perplexed, but whenever they met someone, they made a giant circle around her and Kushina. The name sounded familiar, but she didn't know why. 
"Shikaku, a small almost bald Genin girl wants something from you.", Kushina announced opening the door with a bang and Shikaku who was sitting in front of a Shogi board cursed as his pieces flew through half of the Room. "For god’s sake, Kushina!", he shouted seeing Gene and immediately shutting up. 

"Hi Shikaku-san, I have a request, an opinion is welcome." She said, and Shikaku gathered his pieces, slowly putting them back where they were, telling her to go on ahead. "The Shogun piece is two fields left from that. I have a crazy conspiracy theory that my gut is telling me is true, and I want your support to have a small investigation with Tsukiko and maybe Shisui and Kakashi?" 

"You do know that Shisui and Kakashi actually are some of the most competent Shinobi in Konoha?" Shikaku said and moved the Shogun two fields to the left "A gut feeling you say, go ahead, out with it, short version please." 

"So I believe you-know-who is using his influence to support one of the Hokage Kandidates, we suspect Orochimaru, to get  away unharmed from his crimes." She stopped herself and something else came to her mind, "or a few Clans are disregarding the how and want those kids that Danzo trained." 

Shikaku started laughing and made a mess of his Shogi board for a second time within a few minutes. "I take the second theory, okay, it is far more probable. Anyway, if another Genin was talking nonsense like that, I would simply throw them out." 

Kushina stomped on the floor and behind Shikaku Kakashi stepped out of the door. He shrugged his shoulders at Shikaku and handed him a stack of Paper. "From the Uchiha." He said and Shikaku read through it leaving Gene standing there before closing the file. 

"Well I guess I can officially give you this now, congratulations." 

"Eh?" 

"You are now officially confirmed not to be a Spy. As for your far-fetched conspiracy theory Shisui is taking care of that now." 

Gene couldn't really follow had she missed something along the line. 

"This was a Test, we slipped you a lot of information the last days for you to piece together. Tsukiko needed two days to uncover us, but you took everything seriously and never went to speak with someone we didn't know. After all, you are a Yuki. The bloody Snow of Kirigakure is not trustworthy. We needed proof. Proof solid enough to convince the every Clan once they discover your origin." 

"Ah...so my panic was just that, imagination?" She asked and felt very much duped.

"Indeed, imagination, nothing more except that you actually hit a spot with Danzo trying to ally himself with Orochimaru. But the Hokages student is a disturbed in some ways but very loyal man and told us after Shisui thretended to evascerate him." He said, and she felt how her knees went soft underneath her. Sinking together she signed. 

"This is simply mean, totally mean." She cursed and pouted. "I thought hell could break loose." 

"Don't break your pretty head over it, even if something was going on, you are a Genin and that is far above your pay grade." He started putting his Shogi pieces back on the board. 

Gene was doubtful and didn't know how to react a bit angry at his actions she took the pieces from him. Setting them into starting formation, she moved the first piece. This was frustrating, Kushina behind her was having a laughing fit bad enough to start crying. "Ha, girl, you got tricked." Kishina said, and she moved her first piece against Shikaku. 

"Shikaku-san call me paranoid, but I still think something is going on." She moved her pieces and the two of them played together. She hadn't beaten him once ever since she started playing but this time she spotted a hole in his defense. 

Anuk would call it careless, no, something in the air.

"Checkmate."
