Chapter 84: II Chapter 39 – The sky is blue

The Children huddled away into a corner and the defiant boy that caught her eye before, took her hand. His hold stronger than she expected and with narrowed in suspicion eyes the black markings on his body were fainted but his hair fell down his back unkempt and dirty. 

He is strong, very strong. 

"Izayoi" He answered and looked at her. "Do you want to harm us?" 

His bluntness surprised her and she shook her head. 

"No.", She told them. "I ... We don't." 

"Others wearing that sign, the swirly one, do." He stated coolly and with a force and hardness in his voice that told her what she needed to know, this one had a will made of steel. 

She hesitated, she had no Idea, but she didn't want to lie to him. 

I should just be honest. 

"Could be, but we are not all the same." She answered, and he looked at her Emblems, his deadpan expression of suspicion slipping just for a second. 

"Are you Clan?" He asked, and she nodded at his question. "Good or Bad?"

"Neither." She answered, that was the truth, good or bad, something in-between, dependent on the view. But there was something that she could do. "But I protect my family, so, better than others." She answered them, no clue if that information was useless sir if it encouraged them to trust more. "All of us here do."

The boy looked at her. "You don't look strong, you are smaller." 

"I am just slow at growing, and stronger than I look." She answered. "I can make them into human popsicles after all." 

"Ah." 

Silence. Gene thought about what now when above them something cracked. Looking upwards, she cracks in the ceiling that looked anything but good. 

"We should get out of here." She said, pointing upwards. "Before this breaks." 

Izayoi looked upwards and saw the cracks as well. "Probably." He said before looking at her. "But we won't go with the adults." 

"You don't have much of a choice." She answered. "I am the only small one here, and you won't make it out otherwise, there is a lot of weight above us, debris, broken walls, fallen buildings, that is how we found you."

"Adults are Liars, speak more cleverly, we go with you. Not with them, we can walk on our own, we don't need anyone to carry us." 

She looked at the adults behind her and nodded at them, everyone had understood and listened to them speaking. The adults made a way as Gene led the children outside. Some were capable of walking, others weren't, but those were carried. Climbing up the debris and the ashes they brought the children up, all of them were dreadfully pale and most had panda circles under their eyes staring at the blue sky in fascination. 

"I thought a sky was a dream." One of the girls said her eyes staring widely into the sky, and Gene shuddered, had she been down there long enough not to remember a blue sky. "The sky really is blue." 

God I want to rip something into pieces, no child should believe the sky to be a dream, how long where they trapped in that damn lab,

In the distance she saw a flash of black and shortly Later Tsukiko came to an abrupt halt in front of her, with flowing hair and slightly disarrayed Kimono she first stared at the children and then at Gene. "Details." She demanded monosyllably, her eyes narrowed and surrounded by an air that prophesied death and slaughter for the ones responsible. 

"We found them, don't know who is responsible. I read through a few papers that were about biochemistry and stuff as if for a study. Didn't take them along, found Seiyu in a Tank, he is still alive." She gave a short summary. Tsukiko nodded and looked at the Children putting away her Shinobi badge she approached them tempering her icy aura. 

"Who did this?" She asked them and Izayoi stepped forward. 

"We don't know, we never saw their faces, they were hidden behind masks." He answered and Tsukiko punched something next to her that crumbled into pieces under the force. 

"Alright, could you go with Gene, she is going to get you something to eat and bring you to the ho..." 

"To a medic." Gene interrupted. "They will take a look at you." 

Tsukiko raised an eyebrow in question why she so abruptly interrupted her. Gene stepped to her and whispered. 

"No Hospitals, they won't take it well, the docs I saw you have to get them before this thing collapses." Then she smiled and stepped away. With a smile, she spread her hands and twirled around, acting purposely more like a child.

"Come with me, going to get you some food, and then we go visit a medic." She said and Tsukiko nodded before walking away getting herself a Shinobi and telling him something while whispering, he started to move. With narrowed eyes, she clicked her tongue and everyone started to move at his permission. 

He truly is the leader of those kids, gain his trust and things will be easier, but for now...we need to bring them somewhere safe and find a place for them. 

Afterwards, afterwards she yould ask questions. Questions why one of those kids believed it a dream that the sky was colored blue. 

A last look and a nod at Tsukiko, and she walked away, leaving the rest to her. 

Slowly they walked through the streets, avoiding climbing and under the watchful eyes of many who some were curious and others plainly malicious to seeing her and the Kids. It seemed only the sight of an Uchiha emblem now meant displeasure or enemies among the other residents of Konoha in some cases.
