Chapter 98: III Chapter 1 – Waking

It was two days until their Mission in which they would leave Konoha and again, for the quadrillions time, Tsukiko, Gene and Itachi made use of their Veto rights for their fourth member. 

Apparently it was impossible to find someone compatible with their skill set, willing to accept Tsukiko as their boss, remotely familiar with them and fitting with Minatos requirements all while not being either an idiot, an arrogant prick, a moron or capable of offending one of them in the span of a five-minute interview. 
It was starting to be ridiculous, the only one that had gotten a passing grade up until now was Shisui, who did not fit into the category Minato wanted, but it did cause Mikoto to walk around with a smug smile on her face side stabbing everyone that at least she actually had a solid proposal. 

"I am going to visit Seiyu." Gene declared and wanted to climb out the window when Minato stopped her. "Take the stairs, the roofs cannot hold your weights." 

Somewhat annoyed, she redirected her way from the window towards the door and marched out with a wave of her and. "Tsukiko, leaving the rest to you, I am going to visit Seiyu." 

Skipping out of the Hokage office, she moved past one of Tsukiko's personal two Abus who was carrying a stack of scrolls, greeting him as she scooted aside. 

God, she pitied the guys, she couldn't really imagine what it had to be like working as Tsukiko's 'Minion'

Walking by default on the streets instead of jumping from rooftop to rooftop. How was Guy doing that? He jumped around as if it is nothing and his weights were heavier than hers, but not a single roof seemed to be affected. Lost in thoughts she wandered, others making space for her, not a single person talking in her vicinity. 

I already crushed through some, forgetting I was wearing these. Is it part of that power of youth and green full bodysuit obsession of his? 

With a sign, she stomped up the hospital stairs and cursed the day stairs were invented. 

I seriously need to invent an elevator.

Cracking her neck, she opened the door to intensive care and looked at her friend. He was still there, unloving and...

"Sei!" She erupted, seeing his eyes wide open, they were hazy. "He is awake!" She shouted into the hallway at the next nurse, who stopped immediately and followed her. She seemed to be as surprised as Gene at seeing the boy awake. 

"Can you get a doctor?" She asked and Gene nodded, hurting off at Shinobi speed, grabbing herself the next person that wore a doctor's attire and dragged them to Seiyu's room. 

"He is awake." She stated. "He needs care and an examination on his current physical and mental state. Check over of reflexes and memory to make certain he has no amnesia nor temporary or not temporary paralysis." 

The doctor looked at her with a moment of hesitation before starting to act. 

Soon the room was filled with nurses and doctors, while Gene was banned to the outside and waited for how Seiyu was. At some point also Tsukiko, Itachi and Shisui came by to visit. Itachi and Shisui made a small trip to their father's section but returned quickly, it hurt them both to much to see Fukagu-sama in  a vegitive state like the current. 
After hours of waiting, a doctor walked towards their small group and stopped in front of them, clipboard in hand. "Is one of you Gene...Gen...Yuki-san?"

"Yes me.", Gene stood up, wondering why they didn't ask for Seiyus parents. 

"Alright, as you are Seiyu's Clan Head and his Parents have yielded all and every matter regarding him to you and Hatake-san I will inform you about my patient's current state. As you may already know, we have no idea what was done to him in this laboratory, he is alive for all that matter but his vitals and everything else are a mess. He seems to be conscious, and he is capable of reactions realizing everything around him, but he does not react. Why, we suspect he is not entirely here yet, and we also have no idea if he remembers anything, all we can tell you is to give him time, a lot of time, there is no guarantee he will ever return to whom he once was." the doctor signed and Gene closed her eyes in expiration.

"So basically he is alive he will probably live, and you know nothing.", she concluded and the doctor nodded.

"Yes, I, we, my colleagues and I have never seen anything like this before. Someone tried to do something with that boy, I assume also with the other children, but we don't know what, and we don't even know if they will survive or if there are any after effects appearing much later. We are clueless." he told them rather truthful and Gene was genially happy for his open words. 

"Fine, thank you, when can he leave?"

"We want to keep him here for another few days, if nothing happens, you can take him with you. It makes no sense for him to rest here if we are incapable of doing anything, he may as well leave the hospital. What certainly would be a great help is if we could check over the other children."

A small glint of greed entered his voice, and she didn't like that one bit. 

No not you...but someone should...no I let them decide by themselves, they had enough choices taken from them. 

"Only if they agree.", she answered him, "I will not force, and you won't either. They have had many choices taken from them, and I want for them to always have a choice from now on.", she told him. 
The doctor nodded and walked out of the waiting room. 

"Make certain he is not one involved with that.", she muttered towards Tsukiko, who nodded in agreement. This man was greedy for whatever was done to them, and people who got greedy at the sight of human experiments done on children were not people she wanted near anyone of her Clan. "I make sure, so he will have to keep his distance from Seiyu." Tsukiko snapped with her fingers and a masked Anbu appeared behind her. "You know what to do.", she said, and the Anbu vanished. 

With a smile, she turned back to Gene. "Now, my partner, I have another very long list of names for the candidates of our fourth team member." A long scroll appeared in her hand and she opened it, letting it drop to the ground where it revealed at least fifty to sixty names. 

"What the...", Itachi crouched down, reading through the names and looked up at them. "I pride myself to know most Shinobi worth their skill in Konoha, but I don't recognize half of those names." he said and Tsukiko grinned at him. 

"Good, tell me which, so I can cancel them, this is turning into a joke." 

"It's technically a distraction.", Gene whispered, and she didn't recognize the names either. "With how this is progressing, we end up with Maito Guy as fourth member." 

"Oh, he is a bit too flashy." Tsukiko groaned and both of them looked at her. 

"You learned Taijutsu from him." they said and Tsukiko shrugged her shoulders. 

"I am his rivals' sister, he was happy too until I refused to wear green suits and told him my symbol of eternal youth are black, badly embroidered Kimonos, he got that, still too flashy." 

"This one is rude.", Itachi said, and Tsukiko handed him a pen from her storage. "Cross him out."
