Chapter 11: Gale’s little prank

Letting out a shout of fear and surprise, Drax's body slipped out from under him as he landed with his legs sprawled across the ice, making him land on his stomach. Continuing to slide forward, Drax tried to scramble back up onto his feet as the sound of something moving inside the water located below the ice traveled into his ears. Hearing a chuckle come from behind him, Drax had no time to think before both of his back legs were grabbed by vines. Feeling his body slowly rotate counterclockwise by the vines, Drax had a moment of instinctive fear before the vines suddenly jerked forward, spinning him in circles across the smooth cold ice. Covering his mouth with his two front paws, Drax had no time to be afraid as he did his best to hold in whatever was trying to come out. 

             Feeling a vine once again wrap around one of his back legs, Drax had a feeling of regret as he was spun even faster than before. Feeling his paws forced away from my hismouth thanks to the momentum of his spin, Drax could no longer hold in whatever was going to come out. Letting out a burp, Drax was immediately blasted backwards across the ice as a large cloud if black mist escaped his mouth. Going around in circles for a few seconds thanks to his spinning body, Drax once again started to get dizzy as he started to wonder if the spinning would stop.

               Dragging his claws into the ice, Drax did his best to slow himself down as another small burp escaped his muzzle. Steadying his wobbly body, Drax sniffed the air before quickly shaking his head after making a face of disgust. To an outsider, it must have looked adorable as well as funny. A fox small enough to fit inside a shoe is seen sliding across a lake of ice and afterwards letting out a small burp and then making a scrunched up face of disgust. The scene must have been quite laughable. Standing up on shaking legs, Drax started to look around for the giant whale. Hearing the muffled sound of a tail swish come from behind him, Drax immediately started running back towards the village.

             Taking a sharp left, Drax's eye caught sight of the large village made of ice. Bunching up his legs, Drax immediately started to sprint. Hearing the whale start to chase after him, Drax forced his body to speed up. A toothy smile spread across his face as he realized that he was almost there, although seeing Gale already at the edge of the village kind of dampened his mood. Giving out a happy yelp, Drax was so glad to finally escape this ice lake of death. 

             Unfortunately, fate hated Drax. Giving out a pained yelp as he tripped over an ice shard sticking out of the ice lake, Drax howled in pain as it stabbed through his leg. Trying to get back up but failing, Drax immediately started crawling towards the edge of the village. Five feet away from being off the lake of death, Drax had to say that he was pretty dang happy. That was until he heard the sound of the ice breaking behind him. 

             Jerking his head around, Drax was just in time to see the whale jump out of the frozen lake as ice shards flew everywhere. Turning its body so that it was now facing Drsx, it opened its mouth as wide as it could go as it headed right for him, sliding its large belly across the large frozen lake. Closing his eyes and waiting for the darkness to consume him, Drax was confused whenever he felt nothing collide with his body. Opening his eyes, Drax looked around confused a

as he noticed that the whale had seemingly disappeared. Looking back to the place in which the whale had jumped out of the ice, Drax became even more confused as he noticed that there was no longer a while. , there weren't even any cracks from the whales' earlier collisions against the top of the lake.

               Wondering if it was all an illusion, Drax leaned his head down as looked towards his back leg where the earlier ice shard had stabbed him. Seeing no injury whatsoever Drax became even more dumbfounded as he started to realize that everything that had just happened had truly been an illusion.

             Hearing a burst of laughter from his right, Drax turned to see Gale rolling around the ground as small golden droplets fell from in-between her large pedals. Thinking about it for a second, Drax realized that the golden drops of liquid must have actually been Gale's tears. Opening her mouth four petals, Gale did her best to speak as her laughter started to die down. "That was just, hehe, so funny. You thought that it was all real. Haha, haha. You thought it was all real. You should have seen yourself. Running from as you tripped over yourself. And your face as I rapped your leg with my vines. Haha, You looked at me like I was the most villainous person in the world, hahaha".

             Drax looked at Gale in aspiration before yelling, "It's not funny. I thought I was Going to die, and are you sure it was all fake!!!" "Well dummy" said Gale in a matter of fact tone, "It should have been obvious that everything was an illusion. Why do you think there's white mist everywhere?

             Did you think it was just for decorating? Nope, my clan calls it an illusion mist. It's a kind of trap set for my tribe to use as a way of escape. Only the whale and ice were an illusion." 

             Letting out another round of laughter, Drax could only look at Gale in aspiration. And Drax will admit that he was also in slight awe with Gale being able to pull off such a good prank. (I wanted to look at fish for entertainment and instead got chased by a whale that was only an illusion.) Thought Drax. Giving out a heavy sigh, Drax turned around as he started heading back towards the village. "Um you're not mad are you." 

             Looking at Gale, who was currently walking right beside himself, Drax gave a shake of his head before answering. "No, I'm not mad, just a little disappointed. I was really hoping to see some fish or something similar to them." Lowering her head down a little, Gale responded with a small, "I'm sorry." Looking over at her, Drax just slowly shook his head as he said, "It's fine, after all, you opened my eyes." 

                Looking at Drax for a moment, Gale's pedals shook together for a moment which he guessed was a sign of confusion before saying "Opened up your eyes to what?" Looking at her, Drax allowed a mischievous grin to cover his face before saying, "Why, opened up my eyes to the art of pranks, of course. You can't expect to pull a prank on me without a little payback, can you?" Gale looked at Drax for a moment before letting out a small laugh and saying "Well then I accept your challenge, may the best pranked win." Feeling a shiver down his spine, Drax had a terrible premonition that he had started something that should never have been started.
