Carl never expected to be in front of a portal when he woke up. To be honest he hadn’t expected to ever wake up again after going outside that night. Why did he think so, you ask? Well, he had planned for it to be his last night in existence. Carl had and maybe still has a bad case of depression. The only reason he hadn’t killed himself for almost 2 years were fantasy novels and thoughts of his family's reaction to his death. He wanted to be as far away from reality since he was 17, even though he should have had a quite good life.
Now back to that portal. Carl could see a desolate landscape with craters here and there through the portal. At the edge of the horizon he could get a glimpse of a planet that was really near to the extraterrestrial body he was on. Near being thousands of kilometers away. The part of the planet he could see was mostly green, as if overgrown into oblivion. Carl thought it was quite beautiful.
Integrating… A screen appeared before him. Carl had read a lot of LitRPG novels, so he just took the message at face value for now. After that nothing happened for several minutes. Then a bar started to slowly fill at the bottom of his field of view, which he now noticed was wider than it should be. He couldn’t tell if he was able to look in every possible direction at once and hadn’t noticed this oddity until now as everything except the portal was pitch black.
Before he could investigate his vision further some kind of rpg game like status opened.

STATS

Intelligence: 1 (Int)
Wisdom: 1 (Wis)
What problems the system had with his age and mana regeneration Carl had no clue.
…Error…
Please define time and distance, measurement can be taken from memory.
Well, that was one mystery solved. He didn’t even get time to think about what the hell a mana core was and that he now had mana, though seeing as there was nobody he could complain about these things to he just went with the flow. He also got the chance to make time measurements less of a pain and annoy every human being that might someday come and visit him. He wasn’t sure if he would ever see a human again, but didn’t care too much as humans were, in his opinion, pure chaos. He set the time to his old units, but you would always need 100 of the smaller units for one of the bigger one. He also took weeks out of that system.
Time defined, updating age…
Age: 42 minutes, 76 seconds
Updating Mana regeneration…
Mana regeneration: 1,00/min
Please define distance.
Right, no time to rest for the burdened. Seemed like this counted as a new life, not that Carl cared about his old one. Sure he would still do a lot for his family and his friends if they were here, but more because of his morals and not because he felt some kind of connection to them. Because he didn’t, which was ,in his opinion, one of the things that caused his depression. This being a new life certainly made some things easier to accept for Carl.
As for distance he went with what he already knew and with what most of the world would call normal.
Distance defined, updating status sheet…
Now that he had time he immediately tried to get an explanation for his stats. Thinking about what they did seemed to do the trick.
STR
The more strength you have, the harder it becomes to destroy you, the more Mana you can hold and the bigger your floors may become (1 Str = 10km). Your core size grows as your strength increases.
Stats vary largely between species.
“Okay…” Carl couldn’t compare it to anything else but the books he had read and his strength was somewhat plausible. He now also knew that he could create floors. This immediately made him think of dungeons. Maybe he was a dungeon now? He didn’t truly know, but went with that explanation for now. While the part with the mana storage might look weird, in Carl's opinion it made sense for a core to be able to hold more if it was stronger. He checked out the other two stats.
INT
As your INT increases your memory storage will become larger and faster accessible. INT also increases the power of all skills that require Mana to be performed. Your core size grows as your INT grows.
Stats vary largely between species.
Carl’s mind seemed to work like a computer, at least going by his INT explanation. The stat also indicated the existence of skills. He would need to investigate where he could view those later.
WIS
You are a being of Mana. As such your WIS rules how exact and how fast you perceive the world around you and increases the speed of your thoughts. WIS increases your Mana regeneration, which as a mana core has a direct influence on your surroundings and the universe at large given the chance. Wisdom increases the complexity and density of your structure and decreases the size of your core.
Stats vary largely between species.
That definitely wasn’t just wisdom. It looked like Carl’s wisdom also did what possible other stats might have done. He was also upset about having an influence on the whole universe, sure it might sound nice, but as long as he didn’t know if said influence was bad or good he would not like it. Carl also seemed to generate mana, not regenerate as his status had said. He would have to find out what that meant later too.
As Carl didn’t know what else he could do for now, he decided to give himself a new name. He wanted to leave his last life behind himself, especially the depression, so giving himself a new name sounded right. Carl wasn’t the most creative, so after some time he just named himself Argul Agren, because he thought it was cool.
The name doesn’t have a special meaning, but Argul liked it and it is kind of special. After that he opened his status again.

NOTIFICATIONS (blink, blink)
Now there were two options. Either the system was being built right now or it tried to translate itself to something that Argul would understand. The notification tab was also annoying as hell. Argul did wonder though who decided what achievements were and what quests he would get, another mystery for later. He checked his notifications to make the blinking stop.
Achievement made: Error 404 file not found
You should not exist, but here you are being one happy rock. One wonders why you got a free bee to new laws for reality, so be damn thankful for that. Str +1, first evolution at level 5
Achievement made: Origin of Mana
You are Mana, but Mana is not you. All Mana in existence comes from you, reality one meter around you has the same mana regeneration or in this case generation as you. Be considerate of this, for you endanger the laws of your universe. Int +1, Wis +1
Achievement made: Father of the Archives
Yeah I’m your daughter. Also hurry up and give me a name you lazy rock ^^. The Archives were born from your Mana and you managed to become a father without losing your virginity. Congrats! Knowledge uncovered or used in your domain you will learn, as long as you have the memory capacity. Int +1
So he somehow broke the laws of his universe and created mana? It was a little much for him to comprehend. He also gave birth to a daughter.
“The hell, so I’m a dad now? Oh man, at least I’m not alone.”
It was that moment that Argul learned that he would likely never be lonely again. Sadly he didn’t realize that it also meant that he was never going to be really alone again.
“Well thank you too! You know I wasn’t done with the achievements yet. Also give me a damn name!!”
“Ahem, so you can talk without achievements and such. That’s good, I would have felt bad if you couldn’t talk. Also where does your personality come from?”
“From your mana and yeah as I’m not some weird kind of rock I can talk.”
“I love you too. Wait, you are a bit snarky, does that mean I have snarky mana?”
“...”
“Yeah”
“Oh my god, I doomed a whole universe to have snarky mana. That’s going to be one hell of an afterlife for me.”
“There won’t be an afterlife for you as long as you don’t die.”
“So I’m basically immortal, you are going to be stuck with me. Poor daughter.”
Being immortal was good to know, as Argul could now take his time with doing things.
“It’s not like there will be anyone else looking after you so be thankful for that! Hmph!”
Argul could have sworn he saw the box pout. So cute! The box turned slightly red. Whoops… he would need to learn how to think silently. Now for a name hmm…
Argul thought for several of his hours not realizing the passing of time.
“How about Alyra? That would make you Alyra Agren.”
“Sounds nice, where does the idea come from?”
“Well, when you are all grown up you are going to be one hell of an alluring woman.”
“I knew I shouldn’t have asked and I have no idea how you could think that without being embarrassed!”
Argul only now realized that he felt like some weight of his last life that he hadn’t noticed had vanished upon his reincarnation.
“There is nobody here to judge me besides you and I’m not going to hide my true self from you. Last time I did that to my family I kind of broke the laws of reality you remember? Don’t want that again.”
“Yeah better not. Let's get on with your notifications!”
Achievement made: Prodigy outcast (2)
Detached from reality you became depressed and decided to break the natural laws. The universe did not like this and promptly banished you and every sapient being on earth. But one time never is enough for mankind and you got locked away in your own plane of reality by the second universe you arrived in. I mean your very existence is still at odds with the universe. Wis +2, ability to contact the universe (now you can be even more annoying!)
That certainly is one way to express Argul’s ability to BE. Goodness that sounds odd. Argul didn’t know how he should feel about being banished and then imprisoned, so he filed that one for the think about it later stack of problems. He took a look at his status to find out what numerical effect the stats have on his status.
