A knock on the door interrupts our morning routine.

“You expecting anyone?” Tenen says over her second cup of tea.

I shake my head and go see who it is.

On the other side of the door stands four women. I recognize two.

“Young Mistress Shino-chan, may we come in?” Imomushi says.

I turn to Tenten and say, “It looks like Choko is sending me a message. Should I chase them away?” It is my girlfriend’s apartment, after all.

“Shino-chan, behave!” Tenten says. Then she sets down her tea and smiles at me. “Let’s hear them out.”

I lead the four to our living room. They all sit seiza-style.

Imomushi is a typical Aburame woman with brown hair, dark glasses, and a high-collared coat. She’s one of my branch family cousins.
