Chapter 236 : Behold the might of <Brave> & the trembling Saturn
"Go-Gobl...liii...n"
The Night Goblin scatters a huge effect and vanishes in it.
The battle with the night goblin ended with ease, without any up and down.
That was natural, for I was serious about showing them my might. The boss couldn't even withstand my onslaught for even one minute before meeting its demise.
The other five were apparently dumbfounded, as I could see their jaws literally dropping to the ground. Was it my imagination or everyone except Mona had retreated several steps back...
As for how the situation came to be like this, the story goes back to the time I had a revelation.
Initially, I was fully prepared to let the other four try their hands on the boss. But it suddenly struck to me, What about me? I have worked hard so much in guiding the others, but I didn't have any fun at all in today's dungeon exploration!
And so I thought I ought to at least join up for the boss battle.
However, that's when the quartet raised their opinion. I think it began with the remarks of Saturn-kun.
"Let's see what your strength is first. You, who have thoroughly decimated me with your criticism, should show us where you stand. But remember, I will not let you off the hook easily should you come out to be just so-so. "
I was impressed at how his sharp mouth had revived itself despite being so depressed earlier. He is apparently trying to assert his dominance before he can exhaust his spirit of rivalry. However, all of his efforts had yet to achieve anything.
And hearing his words, the three vanguard members, too, chimed in to express their consent.
"Fufu. Not to say the upcoming boss battle is just the right candidate to assess your capabilities."
"I believe it should be of no trouble to you if you want to rule over the four of us."
"If you can't, 'We' can forgive you if you hand over the leader position to 'us'."
Strange, why didn't I have any recollection of saying I wanted to lord them around? Not to say, they didn't even understand the difference in our strength.
Can they really not see the light shining in my chest, the proof of the conqueror? Let's try to appeal a bit. Shine!
"Kuh, B-But that's only because you relied on your friendship." "Only legendary jobs exist in Eden."
Saturn-kun flinched back for a moment at the sight of my "shining proof" and uttered the excuse. Hmm, Was it just my imagination or his legs trembled just now like a newborn fawn?
I wonder what kind of expression they would have if I tell them I had even soloed the rare boss of this dungeon. Let's try it out.
"Did you guys know a rare boss had come out when I first challenged this dungeon's boss and I defeated it all alone? "
"Fufu!? Fufufu. That's impossible. I don't even have to calculate to tell if it's impossible. "
"Y-Y-Do you think we're going to believe your ridiculous lie?"
"Even "we" have to admit that soloing a rare boss is totally a rash move. Don't think your lowly lie can bewilder us. "
The three insisted on refusing to believe it, albeit their strange behavior sold them out. Their eyes were restlessly darting here and there.
I guess they knew deep down I had not been lying.
Saturn-kun's face was even turning pale.
"I see, I understand what all of you want to see. Fine, I will also participate in the next boss battle. I will show you guys my true strength."
In this way, I was added to the team line-up for battle.
What they had asked me to show my true strength. There was no denying that if the teacher is weak, then the learner side would obviously have some apprehension. Thus, I decided to go all-out this time.
I asked Mona to wait for us when we arrived at the gate, and begin our the boss battle.
I ignored the lackey goblins, made a beeline towards the night goblin, invoked the unique skill twice, and struck at him at once.
When the night goblin was in critical downstate from taking too much damage in a short period of time, I launched my ferocious onslaught. In no time, the HP of the night goblin was reduced to zero and the battle ended.
It was too short. The biggest difference came from the critical hits made right at the start.
Though this was also fine with me, so I didn't mind.
By the way, the lackey goblins also began disappearing the moment the night goblins had vanished.
"And there you have it. So, did my performance satisfy you guys?
The dumbfounded quartet, except Mona, shook their heads up and down vigorously when I asked them.
I was wondering if I went too fast for them to see, but I guess my worries were unfounded.
"If there's nothing else, let's break up here for today. Let's do our best tomorrow too, okay? "
"!"
"Fu!?"
"It wasn't a one-time thing!"
"We also think today's lessons were enough."
Why are the quartet members freaking out after I told them we'd be playing tomorrow as well? By the way, Mona's eyes were gleaming.
"We're going to the training ground tomorrow. Of course, the main reason is Saturn-kun needs training, but the rest of you still don't know how to properly use your skills. Besides, I also have to teach you about the skills you should acquire in the future, so have some free time after classes are over.
"Eek!!?"
Well, it's really hard to stop once I began training them.
Though I could only do so occasionally since I had to focus on myself and Eden too, and I finally made some friends. I think it's worth the trouble to teach them so that I can go to the dungeon with them once again. Although they need a serious reformation before that.
Not to say I couldn't teach Mona that much, so I have to make some time for him too.
There are lots of things, but this also makes me look forward to what awaits me tomorrow. So, we disbanded there for today.
Oh, and all the drops from today's exploration will be sold and distributed at a later date. Mona was supposed to take 80% of the harvested materials, while we, who brought him, were entitled to 20%. He did, however, give us a lot more Mana Grass than it was supposed to, saying it was a thank you token for bringing him with us.
Mona, he was such a super fine gentleman.
"Now that everyone has gone, let's begin the true performance for today."
I returned to the safety area, alone, after seeing off everyone else returning back through the teleportation circle.
I had received doubtful stares from there, but I said there are some things I have yet to do and come back.
I took out the Flute from my bag.
My hands were itching to play with the Emperor Goblin since I was visiting the Grassland Dungeon for the first time in a long time.
Though the bill for using Flute would be quite a bit costlier than usual since I'm alone, I was pinning my hope on the drops I would be monopolizing today to offset it.
After calculating everything, I had decided to use all eight chances today. I wonder how many times I will be able to catch the Emperor Goblin this time. I quickly blew on the flute while burning with hope.
