It seems like everyone is going to the practice area, I wonder if I should tag along as well?
In the end our entire guild went to the practice area, but when we arrived we saw a bunch of students there with blue embroidery on their uniforms.
“Are these all our classmates? Are they here for a class?”
“Theres a teacher here but they seem to just be directing, is it self study?”
“Let’s go over to an empty spot then.”
“Theres a spot over there.”
“Ok let’s go!”
There was a spot where some long distance targets were set up but no one was there. As we moved a lot of people turned to look at us.
“Oi, look.”
“Wow, it’s the princess.”
“Is that the [hero]’s guild? I heard all the strongest first years are in it.”
“I wonder if it would be hard for us to join?”
“Damn that Hero. Making a guild full of women just because he’s handsome, has good equipment and a good job.”
“If we had what he did..”
“Nah, it’s not possible for you guys.”
“The hero looks so honest.”
It seems like many of them are jealous or want to join. Since we’re aiming for S rank, I’ll have to think about how to reject them. I’m thinking of declining all join requests from the general public for now. Although we need production jobs like Hannah, next I’m thinking about a dwarf blacksmith but no one like that has appeared yet. Although most of the first years don’t have jobs yet, that may change at the end of the month.
“Zephyrus! Can we start?”
Oops it seems like I got distracted, Rana was already standing at the 20m mark. It seems like everyone else was waiting to get a look at her magic as well.
“Oh sorry, sure. Why don’t you start off with [Light blade]?”
“Ok, 《light blade》!”
A huge 2m long crescent moon shaped blade of light shot out from Ranas hand.
“Hya?!”
It landed a little to the left and Rana let out a scream, probably because it was stronger and louder than she expected. As intermediate magic [Light blade] was quite powerful after all.
By the way, the training field was made using an artifact as well, even if you destroy the targets they’ll automatically repair after a while.
She immediately shot out another but this time it hit to the right of the target.
“You need to be fully aware of your target. Keep your eyes fixed on what you want to hit and don’t look away when you shoot.”
As with all sports it’s important not to look away from what you’re trying to hit.
“Got it. 《Light blade》!”
Third times the charm, Rana’s blade of light smashed perfectly into the target.
“I did it!”
“Yeah, good job Rana you hit it on your third try.”
“That was wonderful lady Rana. ”
“Hehe, what did you expect?”
I wasn’t sure if it was talent or a fluke but she did manage to hit it.
“Good work Rana. Now try and hit the others until you get used to it.”
“Leave it to me!”
It seems it was talent after all, Ranas accuracy improved immediately after she got the hang of firing her magic.
Normally the next step would be to move up to a moving target but I thought it would be better to keep working on accuracy until she exhausted her Mp. But when I said that Rana immediately started complaining.
“What. But I hit all of my last 10 shots! I want to move on to a moving one!”
I didn’t think she was ready yet, new attacks take time to get used too. If you suddenly switch to a moving target you could get confused so I decided to try a different approach.
“Adjust the attack timing?”
“Yes, well time how long it takes to land the attack from when you activate it. Then you try and keep it as close to that time as possible. The goal is to firmly grasp how long it takes to land an attack.”
“I don’t get it.”
“Practice landing a hit, in only three seconds.”
“Three seconds?”
This technique is necessary for the guild to rank up in the future. It’s said that if a player can aim activate and land a hit in just three seconds they are considered S rank. Once it gets down to 3 seconds you should be able to fire off magic as easy as breathing. Of course some magic is slower than others so it’s necessary to take positioning into account as well.
“Yes, magics speed is constant, so the next thing to practice is aiming and landing a hit in just 3 seconds. ”
“You say that like it’s easy.”
“Thats because I understand skills and magic. It won’t be hard once you get used to it. Just try it out.”
""
“Ok, I’ll be strong if I can do it right?”
“Rather than being strong it’s a technique that makes it easier to win.”
“How is that different from being stronger?”
Rana began practicing with her notebook in one hand. After a bit of teaching, contrary to my expectations Rana seemed to be getting the hang of it. She actually seemed kind of reliable.
