Chapter 4: Away from the danger

4 days later.

The knights have arrived at Ianzu. They all look really pale, exhausted and sleep deprived and have scars and wounds from head to toe from all the fighting they had to do inside the dark forest against the monsters.

The guards at the town gates all seem pretty worried, and they hurriedly come to their aid.

“Excuse us knights. Are you by chance the knights that escaped the massacre at the Duke’s mansion?” They say while helping them up and walking them to the town’s church.

“We will answer your questions after we recover, but yes, we are the knights that got away,” Alfred says while being helped to the church.

2 days later

The knights all seem to be recovering very fast thanks to the help of the priests from the church and we see that the knights are getting ready to go to the capital when a tall brown haired man with glasses enters the room.

“Oh my, Are you all going to go so fast?”

“Yes, we are, Guild Master Wyat Eason. I thank you for your kind hospitality, but it's about time for us to head to the capital. They might have already dispatched the reinforcement, so we should hurry to join them” Alfred says while shaking the hands of Wyat to show his appreciation.

“Well then I was hoping you would stay for a few more days, but the situation seems to be dire; it can't be helped. The teleporter is already ready, follow me”

The knights along with the child follow Wyat towards the teleporter in the middle of town.

“Well it was short but it was nice meeting you all, hopefully you’ll kill all of those demon bastards” Wyat says with a rage, it seems like the always calm and composed guildmaster has history with the demons.

The knights gather along in the center and a blue light surrounds them, and the world around them deteriorates into small particles of mana and the next second they are at the center of the bustling capital full of people and happiness. The many stores lined up in a row along the streets.  The huge prestigious Magic Academy can be seen in the distance. The grand Castle of the Emperor seen in the hill north.

Wow, so this is the capital, really bustling of life isnt it?

The knights step into the gate of the castle and are stopped by the guards for their identity when the butler recognizes Alfred and tells the guards to let the knights in.

The butler guides the knights to the guest house and informs the emperor of their arrival.

The door is opened and a tall man with blonde hair and blue eyes walks in.

The knights and the butlers all bow down to the emperor as he walks into the room with his overbearing aura. The emperor walks towards the child with a cold look on his face and looks at the child in his eyes with his Azure blue eyes.

Whoa, what's with this creepy old man. The child starts whimpering and the look on his face just screams “SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT”

The emperor smirks at the whimpering face of the baby and picks the child up in his arms.

“Never thought I would see the whimpering face of the stern old man here” The emperor says while laughing heavily

“Get up, you all, now tell me about the situation, I’ve already prepared the mission of the recapture of the mansion, i just need some intel”

“Yes, your majesty. The situation should’ve calmed down by now, and the demon general shouldn’t be there anymore; just the lesser demons should be the only ones left there”

“Alright, I’ll take your word for it, but if there is a demon general still there, then I'll take your head for the misinformation,” the emperor says while looking at Alfred, who is scared

“...Y-yes your majesty”

“And Sebastian will be living here on the castle from now on and I'll give the title of the duke to him” The emperor says but Ealdræd Hathewayi the royal advisor speaks up from the back.

“You must not do that your majesty, His grace still hasn’t been confirmed dead, you must not just pass on the title without any information and Prince Sebastian is still too young for the title” Hathewayi says with desperation in his voice.

“You are correct, however, he will be given the title of Duke when he reaches his age of coming”

“I-i agree to it” Hathewayi has a furious look on his face.

Looks like Hathewayi really didn’t want the title of Duke given to me. Sucks to suck old geezer.

“This conversation ends here” The emperor declares the end of the conversation and picks up Sebastian and leaves the room. While walking through the beautiful white and gold hall with the child. Arthur whispers to the boy

“Take the revenge for me, I'm already way too old for revenge”

I will, although I'm a grown man inside. They made me feel loved for the first time. I should at least show my thanks to my parents.

The emperor takes Sebastian to meet the other child of his. The children are playing in the huge green garden by themselves with their nanny watching over them.

“How are the kids doing?” The emperor asks the nanny

The nanny is caught off guard by the sudden appearance of the emperor, and she takes a step back before catching her breath and answering.

“Hahh, it’s you, your majesty, you made me scared”

“It’s bad if a royal nanny gets scared and caught off guard just like that madam Heather Appletone”

“It’s because it’s you your majesty”

“That is a good point, haha” he says with a smirk.

“And who’s that lovely boy on your arm?” She says while squeezing the cheeks of the child.

“This child is Sebastian. He’s the only child of Louis and Elizabeth. I’ve decided to take him in so treat him like he’s my son. I’ll be going now, help him get adjusted here”

“I’ll be sure to, rest assured your majesty”
