Chapter Twenty Six

Without using any of my sword forms, I would have to re-evaluate my plan, I can’t just rush in there straight away either, that’s probably exactly what Rose was thinking.

As we both begin to slowly approach each other, I’m impressed that she wasn’t sweating under such a crowd, however the same applied to me, my mind was only focused on my opponent. If it wasn’t then I would have already lost.

Finally, Rose makes her move, she elevates her sword to her side and starts dashing to my right and strikes, however, I parry and attack with my sword. This exchange had no clear winner.

However I commend her movements, each breath and step she takes is not wasted, her movement is very elegant, and one would think that she was a princess.

I pushed forward, however only the sounds of the swords clashing against each other ferociously vibrated through the field, although I can see that I have a small advantage in my swordplay, her speed is a notch above mine.

For any normal person, having an opponent who is a lot faster than you, would leave you at a complete disadvantage, it could even be said that you had already lost before the fight had started.

However I have been sparring with Gregory for four years now almost every day, and it was all paying off.

The blistering, coughing up blood, being slashed, and being played like a fool for four years straight.

It was finally paying off. I could see it, I could see her sword.

I can’t lose to her, I have something to avenge, I have a goal that I have to accomplish!

“Alright, it’s about time we end this,” I said before Rose smiled and nodded. “Don’t be upset when I win,” she said while rushing toward me.

However although she was putting out a tough and able act, her movements had begun to get sloppy. I guess her stamina isn't the best, guess that's the disadvantage to extremely fast movement.

I gripped my sword and rushed forwards to parry, after one failed attack, she aims for my shoulder however I tilt my sword to intercept.

to my surprise, she uses my sword hilt as a platform to jump away and retreat a few steps before I had the chance to secure the win.

“Tch,” I said while charging toward her, I jump.

She smiles. “I have won.”

Had she been planning all this time to get into a situation in which I was in the sky and unable to dodge?

I smirked.

“do you think I can’t move in mid-air?” I said while sliding my sword on her incoming attack, pushing myself away, however she still slashes through my shoulder.

“Argh.” I grit my teeth, although it was a small cut It still hurt, however it doesn’t feel like anything compared to the hell I was put through by Gregory.

It’s over

She knows it, she drops her sword. She has given up.

“I surrender,” Rose says while smiling.

“The winner is James Wrathead!” Gregory shouted.

Everybody went into an uproar, and rightfully so, I must say that Rose was extremely difficult for me to defeat, just one mistake could have been the end of me, it was probably an extremely magnificent fight to watch .

“The was amazing, can I have your autograph!” one person shouted.

“They should make an SS class, just for you!”. Another one said.

“Will you be my boyfriend?!” a cute girl asked, however after everybody started at her she bashfully put her head down.

“Sorry about that, I might have been a bit too rough,” I said while shaking Rose’s hand.

While wiping the dust off of her uniform and extending her hand out to shake mine, she smiled.” Not at all, I had a fun time, you were going easy on me, thanks.” Although I felt a bit guilty that it ended this soon, after she said this, then I guess I can’t complain either.

“James you were so cool!” It was Claire running through the crowd to give me a hug.

“uhu, uhu, James you looked so cool, as expected of my future husband!” Clara said while also giving me one.

just how could she say such a thing in the middle of hundreds of people! she isn't the same shy Clara I once knew.

With the stares of almost three hundred people and a giggling Rose, I got embarrassed and went red.

However, it looks like Clara has mostly gotten rid of her shyness, I'm really proud of her.

After a couple more minutes of listening to Gregory, we got put into groups depending on our skill ability. I and Rose got put into a group, while the red-checked Claire and Clara got put in another.

These were the pairs that we would be in throughout basic sword skills class, these pairs were the opponents that we would be fighting, people of equal ability.

After a couple of other lectures from Gregory and a couple more Spars, it was lunch.

However, while I, Rose, Claire, and Clara with a couple of other friends such as Ralph, violet, and Sydney who we were talking to at homeroom were enjoying lunch, people kept coming up to us, was it because I had gotten popular and people wanted to talk to me? Or was it because three national-level beauties were sitting here?

After lunch, we had a couple of hours of free time before our next class, Sword Form Studies. However rose said she had something to get from her room and prompted us to explore the school gardens, and we did. The garden was extremely gorgeous, I had never seen such a place in my life, and the natural scents of all the different types of exotic flowers filled my nose. Claire and Clara stitched a couple flowers together into a crown and placed it on my head.

After Rose caught up to us, we walked around for a bit more, chatting and talking about today's events, before the bell rang for our next class.

After the teacher introduced herself to us, she called the attendance.

And after that, she got a pen and paper and started asking the students, which sword forms we each had.

I started sweating.
