Rejected the Demon’s Marriage Proposal Thousands of Times Chapter 18.2
Resolved (2)
Inside the room, Bobby had just started drinking. Wine was his one love. He could go without meals, but not without wine. When the door was suddenly kicked down, he was so startled that the glass of wine in his hand spilled onto the floor. His heart aching, Bobby quickly lowered his head and sucked up the droplets of wine that had spilled onto the back of his hand.
Then he glared in the direction of the door and demanded, "Who are you!"
The man in the black robes smiled and said, "Are you Bobby the butcher?"
"Yes, it is me! What do you want to do?" Bobby did not sense anything off. He stood up wanting to scare off the other party with his large frame, but he had just taken a step forward when he heard the man in black robes speak. His words had some humor in them, but the tone was indifferent and even cold.
"It’s good that you are."
In the next moment, Bobby felt warmth. The warmth started from his feet and rose upwards. It quickly creeped up, and the warmth he had felt in the start slowly turned into an unbearable burning.
Bobby screamed painfully. He was surrounded by bright tongues of fire, and he was quickly turning into a burning man. Surrounded by flames, he could no longer breathe clearly. The suffocation and the pain of being burned by the flames made his consciousness go crazy. He rolled all over the floor, and because of his movements, the fire spread to the rest of the place.
As Bobby screamed, Rothgarr turned around and left.
He didn't bother to look at the way this waste was tortured, but if the screaming person was replaced by Anna, he would be much more interested.
Bobby's scream quickly caught the attention of the residents of Pomegranate Lane, and everyone walked out of the house to probe their heads, wanting to know what was going on.
Then, they saw a light coming from Bobby the butcher’s house.
"Fire! Quick, put out the fire!" Everyone hurriedly jumped into action.
Their houses were mainly made of stone and wood. If one house caught fire, the whole lane would not escape the same fate.
Not long after Anna returned to her home, she heard a faint scream, followed by the yells of “put out the fire” outside. She quickly asked Jim to look after Adele and Evan at home, then took a clay pot and rushed out with Evan and Gaea.
When Anna came over with the water, she realized that it was the house of Bobby the butcher that was on fire. His son was standing outside crying. The adults on Pomegranate Lane took turns watering the burning house.
Anna ran back and forth three times, and everyone worked together to put out the fire.
Of the original house, there was only an empty shelf that had been burnt half gone.
Someone brought out a charred corpse from the room, and many people looked away, scared.
Anna heard someone saying that Bobby must have spilled the wine on his body and accidentally burnt himself to death.
"It's the god of death! The god of death burned my father!" Bobby's son cried sharply. His constantly scarred face was currently covered in soot, but his eyes were surprisingly bright. They were full of fear, or perhaps full of something else.
Everyone couldn't help talking.
“This kid is crazy.”
“Although Bobby always beat him, he was still his father. How can he bear to personally witness his father being burned alive!”
"Poor boy, what will become of him in the future..."
Anna took a glance at the coal-like corpse and then quickly looked away.
What a coincidence this was, that Bobby was the one who died?
She quietly listened to the discussions of the people around her, and found that no one suspected that her family was the one who set the fire, and she couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
According to the general process of criminal investigation dramas, if someone died mysteriously, the first person to be suspected would be the person who had become enemies with Bobby. Recently, it was her family who had conflicts with Bobby.
She wasn’t suspected, probably because their family doesn't look like the kind of villain who would set fires to kill people?
But, did Bobby really accidentally burn himself to death?
Anna looked at Bobby's child. He was still shouting "god of death" hoarsely, but everyone thought he was overstimulated, so no one paid any attention to his words.
After confirming that all the sparks were snuffed out, they placed the body of Bobby, who was wrapped in old linen, back in the house. They would wait for the corpse to be sent out of the city and buried after dawn the next day.
As for Bobby's child, he had stopped shouting after his voice became hoarse. He was absentminded and did not speak, and was temporarily taken care of by a kind person for the whole night. Apparently, this child has a kind aunt who could take him in. In the past, Bobby even beat his younger sister, which caused her to hate him very much, and so there had been no contact between the two sides. Now that Bobby was dead, his sister was happy to death, and would certainly be willing to place the child within a normal family.
Anna’s family of three was silent on the way home.
Gaea suddenly said, “This is surely the goddess’ protection!”
Anna turned her head to look at Gaea. Gaea's expression at the moment was very complicated. On the one hand, Bobby was dead, and the troubles at home were gone. Everyone knew that the person who was injured by Evan was instigated by Bobby. Of course, she would be happy. On the other hand, he was still a living person, and she instinctively felt sad because of the passing of life.
