Chapter 20: Chapter 20 – The Duel II (Krossa Mine IV)

The occupants of the camp had created a circle while Ronta hurried to his tent. The children had been moved back to a safe distance or picked up by the adults in case the fight went out of bounds. They began to chant “Fight!” repeatedly like kids in a playground. What happened to setting a great example for your children?

Atreyu walked over and patted me on the back, “good luck.” He said with a smug grin on his face that just said it all. This was apparently amusing for him.

“That’s easy for you to say... you don’t have to fight him.” I groaned while stretching. I doubted this would be an easy battle from the stories I had heard the previous night. When it came to sword-fighting, my bet was that he was probably going to wipe the floor with me. I could blast him with an endless stream of fire, but that was only going to end up scaring the shit out of these people and not to mention turning Ronta into a well-done steak. He was being an asshole… but he wasn't going to be of any use like that, so the fire spell was off the table for now.

I just remembered the four perk points still sitting in my system unused, I really wanted to save them for later when I had a better idea of what kind of position we’d be in before the battle with the pesky goblins. Maybe the time-slowing ability I gained from the ancient tablet could sway the battle in my favour. I hadn’t even tested it yet, so I had no idea what would happen.

Ronta soon arrived in a full set of Iron Armor and began swinging a steel Great sword as tall as a full-grown man like a madman. Great! The crowd let out a cheer for their champion, which only added more fuel to his burning ego. These intimidation tactics must have been very effective for him in the past, but I wasn’t going to let that sway me in any way, shape, or form. What an asshole! The system came to life with his stats.
