Atreyu noticed me about to leave the barrier and quickly approached one of the villagers, one that I didn’t recognize as one of the fighters. He was loitering around using a torch in his hand, searching the ground, most likely searching for loot. His scheme to make a quick buck ended when Atreyu decided to pull him up by the collar and forcibly made him give up the light source.
It wasn’t completely dark yet, but it was getting there. I guessed it’d come in use when the sun completely dropped beyond the horizon. The man didn’t complain and turned tail back to the town where Artos would put him to work doing something useful. If anyone deserved the loot, it was the fighters who had fought these filthy creatures, not some sneaky bastard who hid with the women and children.
“You’re going to need some light, or can you see in the dark?” Atreyu asked before chuckling at the interaction.
“Not really.” I shook my head. I did have the Sphere of Light spell at my disposal, plus the torches I had gathered at the end of the Oriwynn Ruins, but they were resources I didn’t want to diminish at this point, as there was still much to do before the mine would be back in human hands. “Come on, let’s clear this mess of bodies… besides, I want to test something out. Something you can help me with.”
The bulk of the Goblin corpses were piled around the barrier where the others had made their final stand before we arrived. The rest were scattered in the field where we had arrived after the pit stop at the oasis. Sparky and his pack were having a team meeting further away and seemed to be licking the minor wounds they had suffered. I think they kept their distance because they didn’t want to spook the villagers, some of whom had stopped to stare at the mammoth Sparky. I overheard Artos calming them down a few times, so I assumed all was good.
I decided on leaving the larger goblin chiefs’ corpse for the end as I knew the system enough that it wouldn’t be going anywhere anytime soon. But before all the looting, there was something I wanted to test out with a little experiment I had in mind involving party members. Could members of my party use the system's looting system? Would it give us the same loot, or would it be different according to who the looter is?
“Atreyu, I’m going to try something out on the system, and I need your help…”

“…If you see something or a message that asks you if you want to join my party, just click the ‘yes’ option.” I explained.
I could tell right away from the look on the ranger’s face that he had received the prompt.
“Okay… wait, I see it... this is strange…” Atreyu was gobsmacked like Azer when I added him to my party.
Oh… yeah! Azer was still in my party from that last experiment I did with the diary entries. I will keep him in until I need the space… sorry Azer.

Erm… no, thank you. I don’t want to be shot with an arrow in the back... or knee.
With Azer, the point of the experiment was to see if the system would translate, which it executed perfectly. Now we just needed it to loot!
I showed Atreyu how to open the system screens and gave him a quick demo with my fingers on how to navigate the menus. He was intelligent, so it wasn’t hard for him to get into the gist of things. I only noticed that he was missing the skills, perks, and abilities menus. I assumed the more XP he gained and levelled up the more it would eventually unlock those for him.
One giant mystery still bugging me was that I wasn’t sure if the system was replicating itself or was just an extension of mine. I sure hoped Glenn would call me again very soon, as not knowing this stuff was really getting annoying.
I cleared my throat, “Right, now that that’s sorted. I want you to walk up to one of the corpses. An option should appear in your vision to loot the corpse. Think about doing it, and it should open a new menu.”
Atreyu didn’t question a thing and stayed silent while he enacted my instructions until the looting screen popped up, “what’s this?”
“This is what I like to call the loot screen. Just hold it there… I want to see if it will let me also loot it simultaneously.” I explained as I did the same.
