The automatic door of the medium size blue and white bus, closed behind me as I looked towards a high-rise building.

The building looked about 40 stories tall and covered in reflective glass.

Above the entrance to the building, a sign in the form of channel letters spelled out 'Umbella'

I just recently got accepted as a recruit in the organization and today would be my first day of training.

I looked at my wrist watch and saw that the time is 8:30 am.

Crap! I am late for my appointment because I took the wrong bus.

I waited for the traffic light to turn red before crossing the busy road way.

After making it to the other side, I started running towards the entrance of the building.

I felt like, I must have broken a world record at the speed in which I ran.

In about 45 seconds, I made it to the entrance of the building.

I put my hands on my knees and panted heavily. That short run took a lot of energy out of me.

Regaining my breath, I calmly walked into the building.

There was a security of check point.

The burly security guard glared at me and asked, "What's your reason for being here?"

I nervous smiled and replied, "I'm here for an appointment."

The guard observed my outfit, "You don't seem dressed for the occasion."

He's right. The only good clothes which I currently had in my possession, is a pair of jeans and a navy blue long sleeved t shirt.

Let's just say, that I was lacking in the funds department.

The guard still eyeing me suspiciously, made me walk through the detectors a grand total of 4 times and gave me an extended pat down to boot.

He's making me feel like I am a 4 star wanted criminal.

While in the middle of the pat down. I turned my head to him and said, "You're about to make me even later."

With an annoyed attitude, he motioned me to go on ahead.

I can tell it probably pained him to let me go. I should avoid any issues before he gladly throws me out of here, Jazzy Jeff on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air style.

Approaching, the first floor where the receptionist is stationed.

"Good Day, I have an appointment with Mr. Madoka."

She observed me for a bit and then typed on her computer.

"Oh yes. Mr. Ayano Amaya, I presume?"

I smiled and said, "Yup that's me."

"I need to see some ID."

My smile quickly faded from my face.

I dug into my pocket and pulled out my wallet then opened it.

Handing over my identification card to the receptionist who took it.

She looked at the card then looked at me. I could feel her silently judging me.

Well this is getting very awkward.

I spoke up, "Um is there an issue?"

She replied, "No there isn't. It's just strange to see an individual with snow white hair. Did you chemically alter it?"

"Um no. This is just my natural hair."

She had a look of disbelief on her face when she handed my identification card back to me.

"Mr. Madoka is on the 15th floor. You can take the elevator."

I thanked her then walked towards the elevator.

Pushing the button that signaled the elevator. I waited around a minute or so, before the doors opened.

Stepping inside. I stood inbetween two individuals a male and a female who were both clad in grey trench coats, white dress shirts with a grey tie.

The male wore black pants while the female wore a black skirt.

On the upper left arm of both of their coats, there are 3 white stars.

The male looked at me as I pressed the button for the 15th floor.

To my surprise, he actually started a conversation with me.

"Hey kid, are you planning on being an investigator?"

"Yeah I am."

The female next to me joined in on the conversation, "Our biggest advice to you is, never hesitate in the midst of a fight because that will lead to your death. We've seen many bright eyed individuals, who approached this job thinking that it's a game. Only to get killed or eaten alive by Witches."

I stayed silent after hearing that.

Finally, I was on my floor and the elevator doors opened.

I thanked the two of them for the advice and quickly exited.

As I walked into the hallway. I saw multiple people in those same grey trench coats.

Making a sharp left, I followed the hallway until I saw a door with Mr. Madoka's name.

Knocking twice on it.

A male voice said, "Come in."

I turned the metal door handle and entered the decently sized office.

Mr. Madoka sat behind his desk and closed his laptop.

He looks like he's in his early 30's with glasses on his face and short jet black hair.

He didn't wear the usual grey trench. His coat is black and there are 5 golden stars on the left arm sleeve.

I observed the office. There was a small wooden book case to the left of the room, on the right side, the blinds for the windows were shut and the files on his desk were neatly stacked.

I sat on soft chair which was positioned directly in front of the desk.

"Ayano Ayama?"

"Yup that's me."

"So I have your application right here inclusive of your results."

He handed a piece of paper over to me,which I took then read.

Name: Ayano Ayama

Gender: Male

Age: 18 years old

Reason for applying: The pay is higher than a lot of other places.

Physical Strength: C+

Intelligence: B-

Adaptability: A-

Endurance: B-

Aura Type: Neutral

Magic Type: ***

Projected Investigator Type: Relic User

Hmmm. These results look kind of shaky.

Mr. Madoka broke me out of my deep focus on the paper by saying, "Right now you're thinking, those results look kind of shaky and believe me it is, but you did get accepted."

Heh? How did he know what I was thinking?

I breathe a sigh of relief and replied, "Oh thank goodness."

Mr. Madoka then trained his eyes on me, "The main reason why you were accepted is, that you possess the unique ability to use any Relic due to your neutral aura."

I nodded my head when he said that.

I was a bit disappointed that my only saving grace was neutral aura, I actually tried really hard during that examination. Anyway, there isn't anytime to complain. All that matters is that I got accepted as a recruit.

Mr. Madoka reclined his seat and said, "Don't get too comfortable, you still have to survive training before you are appointed as a junior investigator.

I don't think training will be as hard as, actually finding a relic partner. Maybe we will be assigned one, before training commences.
