"Who will you fight for?" The cinematic trailer ended and those standing around our booth clapped.
The trailer was two minutes long as it showcased large-scale warfare between the factions. It was well made and did what it was supposed to do.
"Today I would like to announce here first that KingdomCome is our brand new action MMORPG. With a massive open world, ton of classes and a variety of challenges for the players, it brings a new experience never seen before in gaming history." I told the audience around the booth.
"We have a demo present that you may try out. If you have any questions feel free to ask." Johnathan said.
We came here together to present our game. The announcements and reveals at PAX was appealing and the people that attended were excited. Although we did not have a stage to showcase the reveal, that did not mean we couldn't have our own booth.
There were tens of thousands of people here today. Put of them all there were a few dozen or so in front of our booth. The size was small, but that didn't matter to me.
There were people out there that were just attracted to us from our name alone. After having the success of two films, now we were presenting a game.
"Woah. Was that really the cinematic? I mean, those aren't real graphics... are they?"
"Dude, there's no way the game looks like that. Even Blizzard uses these to just hype up the game. I'm sure it'll be just like WoW."
The people present started chatting amongst themselves as they debated on how the game would look. Considering this was going to be an MMORPG, it was only natural they compared it to WoW. The giant in this field. Shortly after they made their way to the computers we had set up. There were only ten of them, but I felt that was enough for a demo. After all, our game studio was not really known for anything.
And even though I had produced a few hit movies, I was not that famous in the entertainment world. There were a ton of other companies that sat above my own, and it would take time to compete with them. But, I was building towards the future. They were settling for now. Eventually, I hoped that I would be the one to set the trends.
"The showing is better than I thought," Johnathan commented as he stood next to me.
I agreed with him on that. The number of people we had was not bad, but it could be higher.
This was the reveal of our game, so I just hoped it turned out well. After all, a lot of these concepts were not implemented in other games yet. Granted, the demo did not show much but it did have a few notable features that other companies could use. Such as the action-targeted combat system we worked hard on creating. The dodge mechanics that the player could do, or even the aggression system used by the creatures of the world.
"This looks great. Geroge let me play!"
Behind us I could here the players starting to get excited as they began testing the game out. All they could do was fight monsters in the first zone. We even added in a field boss for them to try out. Although they probably would not be able to beat it, it was still something for them to do. What mattered is that they were being challenged.
"Excuse me, do you have a minute to answer some questions?" A young blonde haired woman approached us and asked. She had a camera hanging around her neck and what seemed to be a recorder in her hand.
"Yes, what do you need?" I asked her.

"I wanted to know, you are Alex Scott right? The CEO of Raven Studios, which produced both the films Icon and Rocket, right?"
"That would be me." I answered.
"What made you want to make an MMORPG? I thought your game company already had a deal to produce a game on the Malazan series?"
"We do have a deal for that, and before you ask the Demo we have today is not based on that world at all. It is our own creation, as we felt that MMORPG's should be a brand new world people can fall in love with. A way to get away from what life has to offer, and we feel that the current market is lacking in that aspect."
"So are games like World of Warcarft, Camelot, Star Wars not good enough? What is lacking in those games?"
"I'm not sure if I were to speak honestly. I just feel that they don't have much life to them. It's as if the player is in a soulless world without substance. The world is static, not dynamic, meaning it's always the same. Our game is different in that aspect as it's constantly changing." I replied to her.
"Can you give me an example?"
"Sure. Let's say a player kills a certain amount of monsters within the span of a specific time. That will trigger an event within that area to have a species boss come out. Which is a higher level than the monsters they've been killing so far, not to mention it has its own guards. Another example would be if that same scenario happens but there are no bosses to come out. The probability of a special event trigger is low, but it could. Which entails a variety of events, one being that those monsters stop spawning for a period of time."
"That sounds complicated, could you even program something like that? I mean, you would have people constantly killing monsters all the time, so these events would trigger a lot, right?"
"Not necessarily. They only happen when certain conditions are met, but when they are then they will fire. Although it sounds complicated, it was not once you understand how to do it."
"I just want to know when the release for Kingdom Come is? From what I can see, the players seem to enjoy it so far."
I laughed and smiled a little. As I looked over my shoulder I could see that the number of people at our stall increased a bit.
"We plan for it to launch in 2010, as it is still under development."
"Can I ask when the development began? From the bits i've seen, it looks like the game is finished" She asked.
I nodded my head in agreement. It did look that way, and that can be attributed to how long we've been working on it before the reveal. Three years of development, and we still had a bit more ways to go. What they saw today would change tomorrow.
"We started this project in 2004, but we've grown immensely from a small studio into something large. All working together to bring a game people can enjoy for a long time to come. We are not trying to produce a game as fast as possible, we are taking our time to work out the kinks to give everyone an enjoyable experience."
