“My Lord, I found a clue of where Qian Jin’s lost records are.”

Xue Lan was analyzing the updated report from Mo Shen about Qi Ming’s current plans and preparation in his study, comparing it to the actual implementation in his past life. When he heard Mo Shen’s words, he looked up from the table.

“First, you need to see this,” Mo Shen gave him a scroll. “This is the first entry of record by a historian in the Zhang Period.”

Xue Lan read through it, “The fifth emperor’s subjects foresaw their defeat and moved the Jin Imperial Family’s assets and records to prevent the Zhangs from profiting and learning from them. Even worse, burning their proof of existence from Qian Jin’s history.”

“It is written in another record that they have excavated the Jin Imperial Family Tomb with no gains. But then, I found this in the library,” Mo Shen handed a book.

Xue Lan looked at it to find that it was a philosophy book. At first, there seemed to be nothing special about it until he saw the date of creation and the author’s name.

“Looks familiar, doesn’t it?” Mo Shen’s lips curved. “Knowing that, you’ll notice something when you read through it again.”

Xue Lan carefully studied the writings.

“The Jin bloodline are people of tyrannical nature. They established Qian Jin by means of dictatorship and violence. When their empire was going to be taken away from them, they rather had their country perish alongside them than give it to another,” Mo Shen continued. “At the very least, that was what written in the Zhang Period’s history and what the rest of the world thought currently.”

“But that is possibly a lie,” Xue Lan understood only after skimming through the book. “It is impossible for this brilliant wisdom to be birthed by an author living under oppression. You can feel how prosperous the era was just from his broad linguistic expressiveness.”

Mo Shen agreed, “Did you see it, My Lord?”

“Yes,” Xue Lan nodded. “This book is written with 2 different types of ink.”

“One is a regular ink, just like the one used until the present time,” Mo Shen pointed at a character. “The other one though, is the same as the one used to write those numbers in the painting.”

“An imperishable ink,” Xue Lan put down the book. “This book is its pair.”

Mo Shen took out a piece of paper, “I have written down the words here but they don’t form a cohesive paragraph.”

“Are there one hundred imperishable words?” Xue Lan unfolded the paper.

Mo Shen nodded.

“They must be a pair for a reason,” Xue Lan thought for a while. “I suppose this was what the convoy from Qi Ming might be looking for in my past life when they visited in autumn.”

“Was there a major event in Qian Jin before Qi Ming engage their attack?”

Xue Lan’s face subtly changed, “At that time…I was held in the dark.”

Mo Shen silently stared at Xue Lan and inexplicably chuckled.

“What are you laughing at?” Xue Lan glanced coldly at Mo Shen.

“Nothing really,” Mo Shen tilted his head. “I was just thinking that you are still lovely in your anger. A drop of tear or two would be perfect.”

Xue Lan, “…”

He started to doubt that he contracted a brain-damaged demon.

“Oh?” Mo Shen raised an eyebrow. “Qing Meilin is going to perform an interesting play. Should we watch, My Lord?”

Xue Lan, “?”

Without telling him anything, Mo Shen pulled him out.

He was brought to the pond and Mo Shen carried him up to a thick tree branch. From there, they got a clear view of the pavilion and the bridge leading to it.

There, stood Qing Meilin and her handmaid. She was wearing a white and light pink robe which was considerably thin because of its design as a summer robe. In addition with her natural make-up, she looked purer and sweeter than she actually was.

Xue Lan recalled what day it was. Around this time, Tian Chen would indeed pass by the pond on his usual stroll after morning court ended.

He then saw someone coming to the pond.

It was actually Yang Huo.

Mo Shen looked at him with amusement in his eyes, signalling that things were about to get lively.

Yang Huo saw who it was on the pond and hesitated. His friend told him that someone was waiting for him at the pond and had a guess that that person wanted to confess their love to him. He wasn’t unfamiliar with such requests.

Although he had only been ‘exercising’ with Mo Shen lately, he never had any hope it was Mo Shen who summoned him.

First, they were only doing it for pleasure. Second, that guy’s whole being was dedicated to his master.

But Qing Meilin was even more impossible.

He had never said a word to her. Not even her handmaid.

Thinking that she needed him for something else, Yang Huo went to the bridge, minding his distance from her.

He saluted, “Honorable Consort Qing, is there something you require this guard’s help with?”

“Guard Yang, I believe this is not a proper distance when engaging in a conversation?” Qing Meilin smiled. “Or are you going to make me walk all the way over there again under this heat?”

Yang Huo, “…”

He closed their distance to 5 meters from each other.

Even just from that distance, Qing Meilin and her maid were slightly overwhelmed by Yang Huo’s raw sex appeal. The Emperor was handsome, but she wouldn’t say he was sexy.

Looking at Yang Huo, anyone couldn’t help but imagine his body hidden underneath the fabric.

Seeing her flushed face, Yang Huo knowingly took several steps back, “Honorable Consort Qing, this guard does not have much time to spare. If it is nothing urgent, I will have to excuse myself first.”

“Wait, Guard Yang,” Qing Meilin grabbed Yang Huo’s clothes, preventing him from leaving. “There is an important matter I have been meaning to tell you.”

The handmaid noticed Tian Chen coming and gave a signal to Qing Meilin.

Yang Huo slowly turned around, “…Honorable Consort Qing, please do not say such ambiguous words towards anyone other than His Majesty. You will cause trouble for them if someone misunderstands.”

“Guard Yang, how many times do I need to reject you to make you understand that this is inappropriate!?” Qing Meilin suddenly raised her voice. “My heart and body belong to His Majesty.”

Yang Huo, “???”

Huh?

He moved his hand to remove Qing Meilin’s hand from his clothes, “Honorable Consort Qing, what are you–”

“I said let me go!”

Qing Meilin violently removed her hand when Yang Huo touched her, making it seem as if she was freeing her hand from Yang Huo’s hold.

She tilted her body to fall into the water, but Yang Huo was quick on his reflex. She thought the plan would fail when her handmaid shoved Yang Huo away.

“How dare you lay your hands on His Majesty’s Honorable Consort!”

“Kyaa!” Qing Meilin successfully fell into the water.

“My Lady! My Lady!” The handmaid enthusiastically acted her panic.

Yang Huo stood awkwardly in place when he heard Li Feng’s fury calling out his name from behind. Turning around, he realized Qing Meilin was using him.

He was restrained by Li Feng while Tian Chen’s attendants helped Qing Meilin out of the water.

With her white clothes wet, they basically became transparent under the sun, revealing her undergarments. The beauty looked pitiful yet alluring. Men would fall and crawl to relieve her from her distress.

Everyone immediately averted their eyes.

Li Feng readily covered Yang Huo’s eyes despite the other already closing them.

Tian Chen looked at Yang Huo and then at Qing Meilin. Nobody could guess what was on his mind.

“Your Majesty, this consort swears upon the heaven that she does not have any affection towards Guard Yang,” Qing Meilin kowtowed. “This consort’s heart experienced its first spring when you graced her with your affection and it has only been blooming brighter. Even if you lost interest in me and refused to touch me anymore, I am blessed to see your majestic figure every day.”

“Your Majesty, Guard Yang has been making advances towards My Lady for several days. His lust knows no bounds. This servant begs Your Majesty to believe in My Lady’s heart and loyalty.”

“…” Tian Chen held his hands behind his back, “That certainly conflicts with your action of asking Guard Yang to meet you while wearing such an inappropriate garment. Guard Yang’s reputation indeed sounds tempting to quench one’s thirst.”

Pfft–” Mo Shen held his laughter.

Xue Lan also hid his curved lips behind his new fan.

Mo Shen’s voice was barely audible, but Yang Huo recognized it. He looked up to one of the trees encircling the pond to find a familiar hateful grin hiding in the shadows.

A corner of his lips twitched.
