“Activate your Mind Cleansing Talismans and pair them with your Dao Hearts to break the enchantment. Then cooperate with me to start the Demon Slaying Array. It is our only hope left,” the First Division Commander said, and subsequently, his subordinates got to work, each summoning yellow talismans with the same runic symbols written on front and back.
…
At the same time, in Night Flower City, Xinzi sat crossed-legged, digesting the Yin Qi he’d accumulated from breeding Xue Jingxhao. Five-colored energies rotated around him. The black and white rays of Yin and Yang added to the mix, aligning at an obtuse angle.
One had to admit that, unbeknown to her, Yuemi made massive contributions to Xinzi’s cause. Without the Blissful Extinction Art, Xinzi wouldn’t have been able to profit so massively from the Night Flower Selection and Jingzhao. The latter, especially, filled his Qi Ocean and Inner Spiritual Cave with the Yin Qi of a four-tribulation Human Immortal—ensuring that, if he so wanted to, Xinzi could make a massive leap in his cultivation.
However, he didn’t. The Pulse came from the Inner Cave’s Spiritual Veins. But to awaken it, the practitioner first had to activate their twelve ordinary meridians, and if possible, their eight mystical meridians as well. Twelve was enough to attempt Pulse Condensation but would limit the connection between meridians and spiritual veins—thereby wasting the quality of the Inner Cave.
So first, Xinzi had to complete his Meridian Activation, taking half a step into Pulse Condensation. For others, even with enough preparations, this arduous process could take months or years of secluded cultivation. But for Xinzi, half an hour would do the trick.
The Metamorphic Flames in our monk’s Void Spiritual Root kicked in, spreading towards the twelve dormant meridians, all located in the heart, lungs, hands, spleen, intestine, kidney, liver, gallbladder, bladder and stomach. Most meridians occupied a single location, but a few shared the same body part. The principles and yin and yang fluctuated around them, enabling the meridians to exist in harmony. And with the activation of the twelve, not only would the practitioner’s strength, speed, resilience and regeneration skill improve significantly, but they’d also become impervious to human diseases and have no need for food and water.
Xinzi’s metamorphic flames first latched on the Major Yin Lung Meridian, instantly, setting it ablaze with its colorful flames. It then did the same with the Minor Yin Heart Meridian, and so on, till the twelve became bright colorful flames that flickered within Xinzi’s body. A miniature vortex formed above his dantian, and the eight mystical meridians—concealed up to this point, appeared in Xinzi’s body.
Unlike the previous twelve, the mystical meridians were not attached to any body part or internal organs. The activation of a single one required more energy than for the previous twelve combined. But for our monk, this price had long become insignificant.
Again, his metamorphic flames got to work, dispatching a net of colorful fire bolts that pierced through the hazy meridians. The fog dispersed, and in an explosion of shining rays, the mystical meridians broke out of their torpor. Conception, Governing, Penetrating, Girdle, Yin linking, Yang linking, Yin Heel and Yang Heel, the eight mystical meridians became orbs of sparkling flames, unleashing vast devouring power that sucked in the Qi of Heaven and Earth to nurture Xinzi’s body. His eyes beamed with dazzling rays, and now half-a-step into Pulse Condensation, Xinzi only had to condense his Pulse to make the final leap.
But what Pulse should he condense? The traditional beast pulse naturally didn’t match his needs. As for uncommon variants, they were of no use to him. Xinzi’s Pulse had to be the number one in the history of all realms so he could guarantee that his Golden Core would also be the best. What design could match this goal?
‘Abbot! Xue Jingzhao has gone into labor!’ A Night Flower’s voice interrupted Xinzi’s thoughts. To speed up his return to Dongli, Xinzi had Xue Jingzhao consume Hyper Gestation Pills so she’d give birth in days rather than months. Still, he didn’t expect her to go into labor so soon.
Barely had Xinzi’s reply kicked off that loud rumbling sounds spread throughout Night Flower City, alarming all its residents. The sky shifted between black and white, becoming a chaotic mess while lightning of the same hues ran amok all around. Bolts dropped left and right, slamming into Night Flower City’s adamantine walls and causing the spread of more rumbling sounds.
“Tarnation! What is the meaning of this?!” Slammed out of balance, Xinzi rolled into a nearby wall, and raised his eyes at the ceiling, stupefied by this abrupt and cataclysmic change of pace. At first, Xinzi wondered if Night Flower City wasn’t under attack. But as the omnipotent master of this city, it only took him a probe to realize that this phenomenon stemmed purely from the Heavenly Dao’s wrath.
Although he expected the birth of his progeny to lead to strange and baffling consequences, Xinzi couldn’t imagine that, even before they’d taken their first step into this world, they’d overturn the heavens and earth.
The rumble intensified, forcing our monk to tap into Night Flower City’s arrays to cast a grand barrier that resisted Heaven’s fury.
A deluge of lightning rained from the sky, attempting to eradicate Night Flower City from the face of the world. The barrier held on, refusing to break under Heaven’s Wrath. Lightning wasn’t enough, so a myriad of ice blocks followed the electric charge. Ice blocks didn’t cut it, so colossal wind blades and flaming meteors descended as well!
All around Night Flower City, Moon Children and Night Flowers held on pillars, bedsheets—whatever they could—or outright rolled on the ground, slammed left and right by Heaven’s barbaric assault.
‘Yoooo, the Golden Lotus be praised. If we were in the Celestial Paradise right now, Night Flower City or not, this would be my time of death.’ Xinzi wiped his forehead, removing the sweat that dripped on his clothes.
Never in his life had he witnessed such an obscene tribulation. And for what? Doing the world a favor by letting his seed germinate? What an injustice!
“You’re angry? So what? This is the Mortal Realm, not the Celestial Paradise! Here, I’m not afraid of you. Go! Slam, rumble! Dispatch your Divine Dao Spirits if you will! Send it all, who gives a fuck? You’ll just raise some dust, then go back to sleep!” Hands wrapped around a pillar, Xinzi cussed the Great Desolation World’s Heavenly Dao.
As if it’d heard our monk’s profane challenge, Heaven went berserk, dispatching a battalion of Divine Dao Spirits that came crashing into Night Flower City’s defenses.
‘Even with the Immemorial Blood Gu refined by Tusha, the result shouldn’t be this overbearing. I am a Night Spirit. I inherited Shenzuo’s Divineline, but Divine Mother incorporated it so that my Eternal Night Divineline would stay dominant. That person told Baxian that, when I was born, I swallowed the remaining half of Shenzuo’s cultivation, plus 81 Stars of the Night. If that person told the truth, something is wrong with me. That or, Yongye, Shenzhuo or both, are hiding something. Perhaps even a combination of all these factors.
Divine Mother, who am I? What am I? What…are you hiding from me?’
