Maybelline tracked Frank through the elevator to the basement. A password was inputted in the luxurious elevator, locking it with bars as it continued to descend. After a while, the doors rattled open, and Frank confidently walked through to inspect the situation.

A massive portal, identical to the one she had seen with Bailey, was active and operational. Giant quantities of marble were being transported into the door, hauled by trucks that seemed to have entered via the basement of the hotel. It felt oddly quiet- Though the workers moved fast, no noise was being made.

Frank shattered the silence with his loud footsteps, announcing his entrance with a frigid glare. He sought out the worker closest to the portal, and seemed to teleport next to him. ‘What the he-’ May floated backwards in surprise, before drawing closer once again. The conversation to follow was too important to miss.

‘And what of the boosters?’ Frank asked impatiently. The worker seemed to be used to the power of his boss, May noted. ‘We’ve delivered this week’s shipment of marble by now, surely. We need those boosters immediately. The offensive this week necessitates an immediate victory.’

The worker frowned. ‘They asked us to double the quantity of marble gathered. They’re not willing to hand over any more boosters.’

This time, the silence truly was shattered, as the wall behind the portal gained its newest indent. The unnatural speed was demonstrated again with unnatural strength- the segment of the wall shattered, spilling soil into the room. A worker got straight on repairing it while Frank sighed deeply.

‘Surely we can’t keep giving into their demands. This is the third time they’ve tried to triple the amount. I’m going in. These fools don’t get to lecture us. Do they take us for cowards?’ Frank barked. The worker paled at these words, and grabbed Frank’s arm before he stormed towards the portal.

‘Sir, you can’t fight them! They hold the boosters- They must be stronger than us!’ His words fell on deaf ears as Frank threw the worker to the side and entered the portal.

Maybelline attempted to dive into the portal to follow, but it didn’t take her in. ‘Very interesting’, she noted. ‘It seems I’m stuck in the universe Bai happens to be in.’ It only made sense, though. She was dragged in when Bai had entered the portal the first time. In the meantime, she dashed around and inspected the room. The trucks holding marble have stopped coming in, and the workers slowly stacked up the last load and got ready to enter the portal.

The glassy green mist produced the portal flashed red as a man in a suit exited the portal. On his face was a masterfully crafted rabbit mask; yet, the hollow black eyes activated every single danger alert in May’s mind. ‘You’re already dead. It’s fine. You’re invulnerable and invisible. Pay attention, May. Keep focus.’

He emerged from the portal, dusting off his hands before emitting a piercing glare, making all the workers take a step back. He glanced at the worker Frank had been talking to, seemingly recognizing him. ‘You, there. Summon the top gun.’ The worker needed no further encouragement, and dashed towards the elevator. The suited man took a seat down, playing with a swinging stopwatch in his hands.

It didn’t take long for a very irritated Ashur to appear. ‘What is it, you masked bastard?’ he spat out. ‘I’ve heard the news. Think you can order us to multiply our marble gathering speed by sixteen times? Hand over the boosts, before we are forced to move.’

The masked man disappeared from his spot, landing with a crash in front of Ashur. However, the mob boss seemed to be prepared- he flashed forward with a blistering speed and crashed his fist into the man, and sent him flying.

The Rabbit blinked out of the air and sent a shockwave through the room with a brutal punch which Ashur absorbed with great effort. The workers in the room rushed to evacuate while the Rabbit blinked once more behind Ashur to land another blow. He fell forward before jumping back up with one hand and steadying for another blow.

‘Your willingness to fight has impressed me. Though, this is as far as you pitiful primates go.’ The Rabbit blinked once more, landing in front of Ashur and kicking him through the air. Disappearing again, he landed behind Ashur as he flew through the air, slamming him across the room seven times before appearing in front of the portal once more. Ashur lay broken on the floor, coughing desperately.

‘Double the amount. You primates will get your pathetic boost then.’

The portal flashed red once more. Ashur immediately stood up and dusted himself off, before walking back up to his office.

--

‘These imbeciles think us powerless. Their mystical cheats continue to give them the advantage. But they continue to underestimate our advancements,’ Ashur stated to the remaining members in the room. Frank was gone, but that was Ashur’s intention. Such a volatile member was not needed in the room. ‘How can they fail to notice basic protective armor, I do not know.’

Ashur took a pause to drop the heavy padding from underneath his clothes. ‘Starve them for their marble. We have no clue why they need it. Simply stop providing it, and we can ramp our demands. Their violent tactics have nothing on us!’

The door to the office slammed open. ‘Lord, we have bad news! Another group of thugs was killed-’ The messenger stopped immediately upon meeting Ashur’s fiery gaze. Taking a step back, he continued. ‘What are your orders, sir? We won’t make it four days at this rate without losing the majority of our force!’

‘How is Ruler doing? Are they suffering any setbacks at all?’ Ashur growled. There were just too many problems at once.

‘Ruler shared the locations of their force with us just an hour ago, under accusations of acting turncoat. They’ve been targeted, but not as harshly as us.’

‘Well, that changes immediately,’ thought Maybelline as she and Ashur both reviewed the placement of the Ruler force.

‘Group everyone up. We’re not dealing with this any longer. No need to be discreet. Occupy the largest spaces we can influence. We only need to take out the assassins, and the victory is ours,’ Ashur declared. He waited for the messenger to leave before continuing back on his documents. ‘The boosts may not be incoming for now, but we will manage easily. They need us, after all.’

‘Bai. I’ve found out where the portal came from. It’s not looking great.’ Maybelline muttered. ‘Looks like Jordan’s story was true, after all.’
