Kai went over to her egg and tried to carefully lift it up, but it was a bit too heavy for her. She didn’t want her second egg to hatch next to their food, only to trench everything in the weird goo and Kai would not eat that.

Not wanting this disaster to happen she instead started to move the pile of vegetable food a bit nearer to their hive. Kai didn’t know exactly how large Anna wanted to build the first room so she left plenty of space for her. She then did the same with the few small animals.

Once she had finished relocating their food she sat down next to her egg. Kai hoped that the goo wouldn’t begin to smell with time and wondered how they were going to clean the mess hatching left behind inside of the hive.

A small shudder went through the egg and a crack appeared on its shell. Kai focused on the egg and felt oddly calm. More cracks formed and the first one began to widen until the goo could flow out. A second later a person tumbled out of the breaking egg accompanied by a wave of goo and went to the ground. Kai had to question whichever method had been used to get out of the egg.

The worker stood up and turned to face Kai, only to go down on a knee again. The movement created a weird splash sound before it spoke in a deep feminine voice. “My lady, this one greets thee.”

Kai sighed, at least she hadn’t been called queen again. She looked over the worker in front of her. Overall it looked similar to Anna, but was a bit taller and muscular. That they wouldn’t all look the same despite originating from the same mother was a relief.

She smiled at her new daughter. “Welcome to the hive Tiffany. You may rise and eat the rest of your egg if you want to. After that please go clean yourself and come to me.”

Kai would hug her too, but not as long as Tiffany was drenched in egg fluids.

Tiffany got up and saluted Kai, bringing her right hand to her temple. “Aye me lady!” She grinned and then began to gobble up the remains of her egg.

Kai blinked, not quite sure what had happened. It felt like the moment she had given the worker a name it had also acquired a personality. She watched the disgusting scene in front of her. Maybe Anna gaining a personality had enabled the hive knowledge to create one too?

But then how did that work exactly?

Anna had gotten most of her character traits when the two of them had been attacked, likely a moment that had marked her daughter for the rest of her life. Considering that the skill might use the memory of her naming a new antanoid as a basis for a personality.

Kai shook herself out of her thoughts. She couldn’t tell for sure and was honestly quite happy with the discovery.

She turned away from Tiffany and walked over towards Anna. Kai prefered being bored while watching her first daughter over being disgusted while watching her second one.

During the time Kai waited for Tiffany to come to her, Anna managed to finish the larger foundation. The new room would have the space of a living room so about 30 to 40m².

It wasn’t too large, so it was acceptable for Kai, even if it would make the hive overall larger in the future.

After about an hour Tiffany finally came towards Kai. She was still a bit wet, but Kai wouldn’t mind so long as it was only water. Tiffany stopped in front of Kai and saluted again. “Here I am, me Lady.”

Kai stood up and hugged Tiffany tightly. “Welcome to the world, daughter.”

Tiffany grinned and hugged her back. “ ‘An honor to be alive, mother.”

Kai liked it a lot more this way. It didn’t paint her in the light of the overlord she was and gave the meaning of ‘It’s not the tool but the hand that wields it that is evil.’ . She was the one who would be responsible for large parts of her people's culture and she wanted to create something to be proud of.

Tiffany slowly starts to free herself out of Kai’s hug. “Can I go help my sister?”

Kai sighed and took a step back. “Sure, have fun you two.”

Then she mumbled. “I am just going to watch you and be bored.”

Tiffany put her hands behind her head as she walked away. “Enjoy it mom, you will miss boredom one day.” Then she laughed.

Uhh, ohh. Kai hoped that day would never come. There was a system in this universe so whoever had designed it had surely managed to give rulers some free time!

She smiled to herself and watched her two daughters meet. Tiffany was a lot more direct and less formal than Anna and Kai hoped that they would get along.

With nothing else to do Kai watched her daughters work and slowly started to drift off into sleep.

Anna POV

Anna watched as her mother hugged her new sister and smiled. She moved her fingers over the holes in her tail again and formed some more silk. The silk was still wet to the touch and she could easily shape it, but once it dried it would become rather hard and sturdy.

Her sister came over to her and waved at her. “Heya big sis!”

Anna put her silk on the slowly rising wall and turned around only to be embraced by Tiffany. She smiled and answered the hug with her own one. “Hello Tiff.”

Then her expression and voice hardened a bit. “You shouldn’t talk to mother this rudely.”

Tiffany shrugged. “You mean normal sis.”

Then she turned to look at their queen. “I won’t talk to her any other way, Anna. She wants us to treat her normally.”

Tiffany turned back to Anna with a soft smile on her face. “It also helps her and you are well aware of that.”

Anna frowned. She wanted to argue further with Tiffany, but her sister was right. If they treated their mother like the queen it would be like leaving her alone surrounded by people who feared her or her status. Their mother deserved something better.

Tiffany patted Anna on her shoulder. “Let’s finish this room. If we are fast we might be able to move mother inside while she is asleep.” There was a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Anna sighed and got back to work. What a troublesome first sister she had gotten. That thought put a smile back on her face. It just meant she had to watch out for two persons and not only one.

Tiffany walked to the other side of the room and started to build there. Through the mana connection Anna could tell exactly what Tiffany had done last and they could synchronize their work perfectly that way.

After an hour of their work Kai fell asleep and the drone returned from one of its scouting trips. Anna looked at the strange herb it had brought with it. She didn’t understand why it had taken this plant, because the only thing it did was smell nice. Anna remembered the stories of her mother and maybe they could make some kind of perfume out of it?

Anna couldn’t tell, so she put it in the unknown pile of plants and went back to work on the room. They had to build it a lot taller because of the larger diameter of the foundation and already had to build small climbing holds on the outer side of the wall to be able to continue building.

The height would also enable them to create a second floor inside of the room that would have about the same space of the first one, but Tiffany and Anna weren’t quite sure what to create to make the second floor reachable. Maybe Kai could help them once she woke up.
