Carth opened his eyes to the sound of pickaxes clashing against stone, sounds of shouting and some screaming. Looking around he soon realized he was in a one man cage with more spanning to the left and the right.

“Well look who decided to wake up” a guard said outside his cage looking in. “I hope Rebirth will break you in good” The guard sneered at him. The guard wore a type of plate armor resembling much like a crusader with plated boots and a flared helmet. He  unlocked the cage and ripped Carth out of it and onto the ground. “You will be put to work under Okran's Will as the Holy Phoenix himself wishes”.

Soon after he was handed a pickaxe and dragged into the quarry where other chained individuals were being put to work breaking stone and making it into blocks of various shapes and sizes. It was quite obvious to see where all these stone slabs were going, above him loomed a grand statue of a man In similar armor as the guard wore with his hand out and facing up. Its head and other components were clearly missing. Carth soon heard a man under the statue shout, “May Okran guide us this glorious day as all these sinners and monstrosities learn of your great Will Okran, guide our leader the Holy Phoenix to the path of truth and justice” The man was a priest of Okran, the name of their god. The priest wore robes dyed orange and was making the same pose as the statue as he repeated his prayer to Okran for all to hear.

“You seem new,” A deep feminine voice sounded behind Carth. As he turned around he soon was face to face with a tall person with three horns coming out of each side of her head. Her skin was a light shade of purple while her horns were a darker shade of purple with blue accents . “The name is Shela, it's not everyday to see a flatskin greenlander like yourself being the ones in chains.''She exclaimed looking straight at him. Shela is what he recognized as a Shek, a race that is known for their barbaric nature and crude demeanor. She called him a greenlander, also known as a white human, as for Flatskin? That's the term Shek name humans, as they lack horns and rough skin like they have.

“You don’t seem to belong, what did you do to piss them off?” Shela asked with sweat falling from her face as she swinged the pickaxe straight into the large rock she was breaking up.

“I denied the Holy Phoenix a free blade he demanded I give him,” Carth explained as he took another swing at the stones in front of him. “You see, I am a great smith that made many blades and sets of armor, all my customers were always astonished at the quality of my works and always seemed to be honored to be able to wield my blades and dawn on my armor.” Carth explained while Shela nearly forgot about her work just to listen. “I made many blades of which I was proud of, I come from a line of great smiths, in fact one of the blades we had was a Meitou class blade.” Weapons had a tier system based on their quality, Meitou was the highest it could go as it never rusted and stayed sharp as the day it was crafted, named after the grand forger Meitou. “The Phoenix wanted that blade that was passed onto my family generation after generation, but when I denied him he ordered his guards to arrest me for conspiring with Narko.” Narko is what some would call the devil. Carth sighed as he took one more swing into the large stone. “What about you? How did you end up here?”

“Long story short I walked into their territory to scout for some goats to hunt and was assaulted and dragged here,” Shela said bluntly “These people believe my species were created by Narko himself. Tell me, you were raised in this kingdom right? Why are you not afraid of me?."

“Well…” Carth thought for a moment, realizing that he is having a civil conversation with a creature his home nation marked as a rabid beast that kills for fun. Why wasn’t he scared? Maybe it was because of the situation he is in? He had no clue.

“Forget about what i said,” Shela said with a sorry looking smile. “We will have the rest of our lives to talk, nobody leaves this place, redemption to these people is death.”

Carth realized she was telling the truth, he knew about a place to rebirth the sinners but never heard of anyone leaving after being redeemed. This place was going to be his demise.
