After a few minutes, Miria showed up next to the spot where Asterios and the others sat together to watch her performance. She stopped in front of them and grinned with her hands on her hips.

“Good job.” Asterios smiled at her and the girls nodded alongside his words. “You are getting quicker at using your bloodline, aren’t you?”

“That’s right, Master! Still, I thought I would be able to go for a few rounds without using it but it would be too troublesome to reach her so high.” She sighed softly.

“You got her good, kitty girl. She didn’t even know what hit her.” Grea snickered. “Your other opponents might not be as clueless now.”

“Don’t worry! That was only a small part of my bloodline! And I have a few other tricks under my sleeve.” Miria puffed out her chest. “I realized a long time ago how dependent on Master’s support I am when compared to everyone else. This is a great opportunity to test what I have learned and come up with in a safe environment. Right, Master?”

Asterios extended a hand to Miria and pulled her onto his lap. “Definitely. I’m excited to see what you are going to do, then. You make yourself sound weak without my spells but we all know that you can kick some serious ass all on your own.”

She giggled happily and nuzzled her face into his cheek as Asterios caressed her ears. They watched the next matches together, analyzing the contestants and their moves. It became clear that while magic was present in the ranks of valkyrjas, techniques closer to martial arts and enhancing one’s body and weapons were predominant in their case. There was no rule saying which side had it easier, though, as all contestants were well-trained and skilled.

Half an hour later, the announcer called out Silvia’s name and they all stood up to head closer to her appointed battleground. Reaching the stairs leading under the audience section, they stopped for a brief moment and Asterios squeezed Silvia’s palms for good luck. She left a chaste peck on his cheek and departed with a warm smile on her noble face.

Finding a few free spots, which wasn’t that hard considering the fact that the coliseum was filled only about halfway, they turned their attention to the pit in front of them. Silvia made her way into it first and stretched her body a little bit while waiting for her opponent. Glancing up at the audience, she waved at them softly.

The other contestant arrived shortly after her. She ended up against a much more armored valkyrja. The winged woman she would be facing wore full plate armor which looked quite heavy. Her movements didn’t seem to be inconvenienced by it in any way, though. In her hands, she held an impressive kite shield able to cover almost her entire body, and a long, sharp lance.

Moments after the referee signaled the start of the fight, the winged woman soared into the air.

“This again.” Miria groaned. “It’s going to look like that’s the only thing they can do.”

Tina chuckled quietly next to her. “You can’t fault them for choosing that as their first move after seeing their opponent's lack of wings.”

“I know but still. Even though she can’t fly, I don’t think Silvia will have too many issues with that since she can use incredible magic. But, will she be able to complete her dances in time? I wonder what she will do. What do you think, Master?” Miria turned her face to Asterios.

He smiled at her mysteriously. “Just watch and see. She is definitely going to put up a good show for us.”

In the meanwhile, the calm princess hadn’t made any meaningful moves. The armored woman kept hovering near the upper border of their spiritual cage, changing positions regularly. Now and then, she used her magnificent wings to launch a dive toward Silvia with her weapon aimed straight at the princess. None of those attempts succeeded but she didn’t seem to have any intention of coming down for a longer period of time.

Therefore, Silvia could do only one thing.

Asterios and the girls watched how an impressive aura gradually enveloped their friend’s body with amber energy. Piece by piece, the familiar, translucent spiritual armor materialized over Silvia’s clothes, covering her in overlaying defensive plates. The beautiful, flaming tiara showed up above her hair and hung there just as usual.

But, that wasn’t all.

Miria gasped after noticing a few other things that came into existence. The first one was the thick, long tail coming out of the manifested armor covering the back of her black coat. It wasn’t as thick as Ast’s, but it was quite obvious that it imitated his draconic appendage to some extent. Additionally, two sharp horns sprouted from the sides of her head, extending past the tiara. The thin, rectangular tiles of her armor then switched shapes into big, scale-resembling plates. Everything was made of the fiery, orange aura, of course.

The next time the valkyrja lunged at her with her lance, Silvia suddenly disappeared with an amber flash right before the weapon pierced into her. The woman came to a halt, confused, but everyone else could see the princess hovering in the air just above her, without the use of wings or any other appendages. She just stood in the middle of the sky and traced a few symbols with her black staff.

Asterios smiled to himself. After she had become his mate, Silvia put a lot of effort into her training to see if their deepened bond affected her in any way. It didn’t take even a day before she could utilize her Aura Manifestation to a similar level as her father. She had no issues recreating a few of his techniques either.

The current form of her manifested armor had come to be after she had adjusted her mind and body to the new power alongside Asterios. She liked it much more than the initial version, especially since she could actually control the tail and it was just so much fun to do so. Her apparel closely resembling draconic themes felt just right after she had bonded with a True Dragon.

Naturally, visual changes weren’t the only things that her energy had experienced.

When the winged woman realized that her opponent had appeared above her and turned around, it was already too late. The few short seconds were enough for Silvia to finish her spell and five magical circles appeared behind her back. The valkyrja hastily raised her shield up and planted her feet hard on the ground the moment a heavy downpour of flaming javelins crashed into her.

The barrage lasted for twenty seconds and the poor woman could only defend herself. To her credit, the projectiles didn’t seem to do much to her and her armor, partially dissipating after getting in contact with it. The impact was commendable but she held herself strong.

Not wanting to sit still and give Silvia time to cast another spell, she flapped her wings hard and yelped in shock. With pure confusion written on her face, she looked down and noticed that the metal underneath her heavy boots had melted and had enough time to cool down, pinning her to the floor. She quickly realized that the javelins had been just a distraction and turned her gaze forward.

Her eyes widened to the brim at the sight of Silvia speeding towards her while pushing herself forward with violent jets of flames coming out of the soles of her shoes. She managed to put her shield up but the princess slammed into it with her staff so hard that it flew out of the valkyrjas grip somewhere to the side.

Without losing even a fraction of a second, Silvia spun around with the remaining momentum and stabbed the tip of her weapon into the woman’s breastplate. The thick helix of amber energy surrounding it began swirling even faster at the impact and a horizontal pillar of relentless inferno burst forward. A loud humming noise filled the silent arena as Silvia’s staff continued to spit flames for a few long seconds.

After she finally recalled her spell, the fire revealed a shallow, melted trench, and a charred figure of the valkyrja welded into the almost liquid wall of their separated arena, missing the heavy boots that had remained in front of Silvia, and various other parts of her armor, eaten by the hungry flames. A bit roughed up, but she looked alive, thanks to the protective enhancement, most likely.

Silvia dismissed her aura and sighed delicately as her fight was announced as finished. She made a respectful bow towards her opponent, then the audience, and headed for the exit as the rescue team attempted to peel their companion off the heated wall before it turned hard again.

Asterios and the girls welcomed her with a round of friendly applause and Silvia curtsied in front of them. Miria made some space for her next to Asterios and invited the princess to sit close to him.

“What do you think?” Silvia asked with a delicate smile.

“Your father will die of shock when you finally show him.” He chuckled softly. “You still held back a lot down there.”

“I had to. I’m still not certain how far your hot mana can take me. I utilized only a tiny bit of it for those spells and you all could see how potent they became. Our energies resonate so well. I’m starting to feel a little bad for Father if my growth continues like this just from being together with you.”

“Well, he can go and find himself a Dragon too. He doesn’t lack the necessary bloodline.” Asterios smirked.

Silvia let out a quiet giggle. “Too bad he is too far lost in a being much more fearsome than some overgrown lizard.”

“Hey now, is that how you see me?” He raised a brow at her.

She showed a brilliant smile and leaned in to join their lips in a gentle kiss. Asterios brushed over her cheek with his palm as Silvia’s hand rested on his chest. They exchanged a few loving pecks before splitting up.

“My man is the most majestic out of all those overgrown lizards,” she whispered softly.

As Asterios and Silvia stared into each other’s eyes, the other women had it quite tough to hold back from commenting on how cute they were together, especially Miria and Grea. But, they didn’t get to remain in their little world for too long as Tina was called next and everyone had to move once more.

She escaped into the tunnel leading into the depths of the coliseum without getting in touch with Asterios before her fight like the other girls had. When she showed up in the small arena, she was already full of determination to win her battle. Ori, her Shearwater familiar, circled close to her as they talked mentally. Asterios smiled warmly, feeling Tina’s desire to prove herself too, even though he and the others knew she was in a league of her own.

As for her opponent, she received an actual mage. The Valkyrie going against her wore a similar armor to Bryn but her chestplate was almost flat. It wasn’t really possible to guess which element was her specialty just from her staff, which too had a very sharp and pointy tip. It seemed that no matter what category one fell under, all valkyrjas were equipped and proficient in something good for poking and stabbing.

Tina and her opponent exchanged a few words with the referee before walking away to their positions. Asterios quickly guessed the topic after she didn’t start preparing anything beforehand and Ori escaped into a small, azure gate. She wasn’t allowed to begin with any head start. That put Tina in a worse position but everyone was sure that she would overcome that small difficulty without a problem.

Surprisingly, after the match started, the Valkyrie didn’t instantly move up but chose to cast a quick lightning spell. Thankfully, it didn’t look like Tina was caught off guard and managed to order Hydran to form a spinning pillar of water in front of her to absorb the attack. Hydran then assumed a slightly humanoid shape and rushed at the winged woman.

Again, instead of escaping into the air, the Valkyrie hastily closed her eyes to focus and muttered out a few words as a chant for her next magic. The moment Hydran’s shape arrived close enough, she opened them and shouted something. A cage made of blue lightning flickered into existence and trapped Tina’s familiar inside. Whenever Hydran tried to move past the bars, powerful energy would zap its liquid body, pushing it back.

She formed another spell before Tina could do anything to help her servant and shoved her staff into his body. Its tip glowed brightly and multiple, flashing streaks filled Hydran’s entire figure as the poor spirit shook heavily. Soon, it lost its consistency and flowed down onto the metal tile underneath the cage. The Valkyrie smiled to herself victoriously and looked ahead.

Unfortunately, it was she who had fallen into her opponent’s trap.

Tina was nowhere to be found, shocking the woman greatly. After a moment, she noticed a shadow cast on the metal ground and raised her gaze to the sky. The short, blue-haired girl hovered in the air with the use of pretty wings resembling those of a Shearwater. A small slip of magical paper was just dissipating in her fingers.

The left side of her face, her left hand, and her left thigh were covered by slightly shining, green patterns. A matching set of lines and shapes appeared on the right side of her face, her right hand, and her right thigh, this time of a glowing blue shade. The layout was slightly different but the ends still met and formed a full circuit, clearly running all over her body.

With both palms extended forward and aimed down at the ground, she activated the spell she had been preparing since the moment Hydran had rushed forward. The green patterns on her skin flashed brightly and five emerald magic circles appeared on the ground, forming an X-shape as they covered most of the arena’s floor.

Before the Valkyrie could use her own wings to rise, the formations released a powerful gust of wind and middle-sized tornadoes quickly came into existence above them. Each cyclone spun in a different direction than the one next to it, resulting in violent, chaotic winds that ran rampant around the battleground. The poor winged woman was caught in them and couldn’t do anything but let them drag her around without any control, often getting smacked into a wall or the ground.

But, that wasn’t all Tina had planned.

The blue streaks on her body flashed too and matched the green ones. Sapphire formations appeared on the walls and started pumping dark water into the perfectly sealed arena. In no time, it was filled almost to the brim, leaving just enough space for Tina to still be in the air next to the upper barrier.

Massive, relentless whirlpools formed in the place of the earlier cyclones, and the Valkyrie could barely be seen moving alongside the currents as she attempted to fight her way out of the immense might of Tina’s combined spells. Tina had another one already coming but halted its activation after her ears picked up quite distinct words of surrender coming in parts as her opponent tried to spell her plea out during the moments her mouth was above the deadly waters.

Both elements disappeared as quickly as they formed and the winged woman soon hit the metal ground, coughing heavily and shivering all over. Tina flew down and landed next to her to make sure that the valkyrja’s condition was alright. Thankfully, she didn’t need to ask Firo for help before the dedicated healers caught up to them. Leaving her in their hands, she hastily escaped through the exit gate.

A few short minutes later, Asterios and the others saw her walking towards them with a slightly downcast gaze. He stood up and approached her first, brushing through her hair gently.

“What’s wrong? That was amazing.” He raised her chin up to meet her eyes.

“I mean, yeah… but I didn’t get to show the last, finishing move…” she explained with a slightly disheartened voice. “All I did was make some water and wind move around…”

He smiled warmly and left a delicate peck on her lips. “You’ve shown us plenty. I didn’t know you could combine two elements like that. It was really smart and can take many people off guard since both spells were incredibly powerful.”

“Well, it’s all thanks to you.” Tina’s face bloomed with a light blush. “Using your draconic mana, I can literally ingrain Esil’s and Hydran’s nature into my body, receiving control over water and wind, even both at once. I think it gives me some more ways to deal with multiple enemies now.”

Asterios chuckled and grazed her cheek lovingly. “You shouldn’t put all the credit on me but I agree. You’ve become a really powerful frontliner. I’m glad to have you with me.”

“Yeah! You are amazing, Tina!” Miria showed up next to them and beamed at her merrily. “It was so strong that I wouldn’t have thought that you were to add even more spells into the mix!”

“I honestly got a little uneasy seeing that much water forming deadly traps,” Silvia added with a soft smile. “I know that my fire is strong but that would have been near impossible to escape in time. And after you get caught, it’s almost a death sentence.”

“Listen to them, shortie! You’ve more than proven yourself with that spectacle!” Grea looped her arm over Tina’s shoulder. “I don’t think Asterios ever needed you to show what you are capable of in terms of battle prowess after your duel at the academy. You’ve been growing alongside everyone and I bet you’ve never slacked off even for a moment. But, there might be a different area you could work a little more on your techniques to make sure that he knows your worth as his partner.”

Tina turned almost entirely crimson after seeing Grea’s implicative grin. Asterios shook his head and bonked the frivolous demon lady on the head before sneaking another peck on Tina’s lips. They all sat down to calm down and discuss their previous battles while waiting for the next match.

It turned out to be Selene’s chance to shine next. Everyone really hoped for Asterios to finally make his appearance but it didn’t look like fate wanted to listen to their wishes. She showed her iconic, ladylike smile to them before heading for her assigned arena. They didn’t have to move since she had been called to the same battleground as Tina, a few rounds later.

Selene’s opponent was a Valkyr using a long, metal chain which ended up with a spiked flail on each side. She had it wrapped around her figure and spun the two endings by her body. As she unraveled some of the chain from around her waist before the battle, it was clear that she was aiming to tie the fox lady up with one of her attacks.

And, maybe it would have worked if her opponent wasn’t an eight-tailed spiritual master almost on par with the legendary goddess of her subrace.

As the Valkyr pushed herself forward and launched one of the spiked balls ahead, Selene did a wide arc with her arms and slapped her palms together with an echoing smack. Two, giant, cyan hands materialized near the left and right wall each and soared towards the middle.

The winged lady took one step before they crashed into her with a powerful explosion of air, quickly dissipating into nothingness a moment later. No matter how one looked at it, she had been effortlessly smacked like a blind, defenseless mosquito. The audience hadn’t even gotten the chance to cheer the contenders at the start of the fight.

Selene flicked her hair away and casually walked off the stage, with the only sound echoing through the arena being the noise made by her shoes hitting the metal floor. She appeared back where Asterios and the others waited for her with a satisfied smirk.

“Now we can finally move on to the important fight.” She chuckled softly.

Asterios shook his head as she sat down amongst them and they waited for his turn while he fluffed her tail to the owner’s delight. Their fun lasted about ten minutes. Getting called to a different arena, Asterios stood up and smiled at his mates. They all wished him good luck, except for Grea. She wished it to his opponent instead, saying that they would need it much more, making him snort at her.

The girls moved as close to his battleground as possible and Miria looked around in awe.

“So many more people are gathering here. Master is already attracting a lot of attention. Even our fights weren’t as crowded.”

“I wouldn’t be so sure that it’s him who they are eager to see,” Tina commented and pointed down at the stage.

While their opponents had been on a slightly younger side, Ast’s rival clearly had some more age experience behind her belt. The Valkyrie standing in front of him wore black armor with dark silver details instead of the common white and gold combination. Her gear showed a great deal of wear and minor damage from cuts, slices, and stabs. She had short black hair and fierce, red eyes, with an impressive scar over the left one. The woman’s skin was much more tanned than all her sisters in arms.

“Why does it feel like that person is on a completely different level from everyone else?” Selene frowned lightly.

“Looks like I might have jinxed us.” Grea chuckled wryly.

“We were bound to run into a stronger enemy at some point. Remember that everyone starts from the same position. Our luck must have finally run out,” Tina added.

“Maybe you are right…” Silvia roamed her gaze over all the other arenas, stopping at the separate viewing section for the VIPs. “If that really was up to luck…”

“Well, it doesn’t really matter. Master will end it in a flash.” Miria shrugged and they all focused on the battle.
