“Maaaaaaaaaaasteeeeeeeeeeeeeer!”

After Asterios resurfaced amongst the audience rows, Miria’s cheerful shout reached his ears. He waved at the smiling panthergirl and let her slam softly into him. Their eyes met as she looked up at him with a toothy grin and the other girls soon joined them behind her.

“What was that, Master? The orange fire! How did you break out of that ice?” she barraged Asterios with multiple questions without stopping for even a moment.

“That’s not the first thing you should be asking.” Tina sighed gently while shaking her head. “Are you alright? That fight seemed intense.”

Asterios chuckled while caressing Miria’s fluffy ear. “Yeah, I’m fine. The healers took care of me inside the tunnel. I didn’t receive any serious injuries. Bryn can take a look at me after we get back if that would ease your mind a little.”

She smiled shyly and nodded. “I’m glad, then. And it’s alright.”

He turned back to look at Miria. “As for the fire… Well, do you still remember that part about the Dragon’s peerage being part of that person and becoming their strength?”

“In other words, after taking me as his mate, Asterios is able to make use of my fire affinity and magic,” Silvia chimed in with a delicate smile. “Just as he shares his energy and essence with us, which mixes with ours and enhances our growth, we also share something back.”

“That’s so awesome!” Miria giggled joyfully.

“Basically, he can reach for our cores since we are all linked to him,” Selene added. “The more bonds he has, the stronger he will get, though Master is focusing more on quality rather than quantity.”

“It also shows how lucky of a fraud I am.” Grea shook her head with a wry smile. “From Miria, he gets all those beast senses coming from her bloodline. From Selene, he gets amazing spiritual control. From Tina, he gets at least her water affinity. Silvia is pretty obvious with her fire and bloodline too. As for me? I’m just a common, powerless woman. The best I can give him is my pussy, and that’s already all his even if he wasn’t a hot, sexy, Dragon with a nice cock. There’s nothing to gain from having me.”

Asterios stepped past everyone and arrived in front of her, placing his hands on Grea’s hips. He pulled her into himself and looked into her pretty, full red eyes from up close.

“You gave me your heart and that’s already plenty. Even if I would be the only one sharing something with you through my draconic lineage, I would be incredibly happy with that. But, not everything has to be as clearly visible and perceptible as the things I get from my other mates. We don’t know. Maybe you are sharing something big with me and we aren’t even aware of that.”

“Yeah, my lust. There’s nothing bigger that I can share with you.” She snorted lightly with a smirk. “But… Thank you.”

He smiled warmly seeing Grea’s cheeks turn a shade darker and pulled her into a gentle kiss, which quickly turned way more passionate as she went after his mouth like an animal starved for affection. Asterios didn’t complain and enjoyed the brief moment fully. He truly believed in his words and knew that Grea sensed that.

“Alright, enough.” She suddenly pushed him away, catching her breath. “Any more and I won’t be able to control myself. There are still a few matches today that you certainly want to watch instead of humoring your slightly insecure fucktoy.”

Grea didn’t give Asterios a chance to reply and led him back near the currently ongoing battles while the other girls followed shortly after them. Just as she had said, they observed the remaining fights together, commenting on the performance of the participants and chatting about Ast’s own duel.

The main topic was of course his use of Silvia’s energy since everyone was curious to what extent he could control it. Thus, Asterios explained that he had mostly used it to enhance his own mana and the sword like they had done during their fight with the Terrackal.

Having access to Silvia’s source let him introduce some more actual spells into his arsenal and that was what he had done right after flying into the air. Him being part Dragon didn’t exactly give him straight-up Fire Magic out of nowhere. He could control his and other flames to some extent but becoming one with the princess opened a few more doors for both of them.

After the first round of the War Games was finished for the day, they stood up and headed toward the exit. Of course, it was only the Power Division’s segment that had concluded. The other, remaining segments were still taking place after it, according to the assumed schedule. But they weren’t as interested in those. At least not in the initial rounds. And, since those had different supervisors, Bryn could finally return to them.

They headed straight to their assigned residence and decided to rest for a little bit. Soon enough, their Valkyrie friend descended from the sky and landed on the balcony gracefully. Everyone quickly gathered by a big table and Selene brought some snacks from the kitchen.

“First of all, let me congratulate you all on your victory. Especially you, Master,” Bryn began with a delicate smile. “I’ve seen all of them in full detail, of course, and I’m glad that there were no issues. Besides…”

“Ast’s opponent,” Silvia finished for her.

“What’s wrong with Master’s fight?” Miria tilted her head.

“Krev, the Valkyrie he fought, hasn’t entered any War Games in years. She lost interest in them after coming out as a victor a bunch of times in a row without that much trouble. Honestly, it wouldn’t be that surprising if she made her move after rumors about Asterios reached her ears but it feels like quite an incredible coincidence that they ended up facing each other right in the first round,” Bryn explained.

“That’s what I thought.” Silvia nodded. “But, as you said, it really could have been just a coincidence.”

“Well, it wasn’t,” Asterios joined in and everyone looked at him. “It’s true that she wanted to fight me during the War Games but she made it sound like there was a lot more going on behind the scenes. She was ordered not to let me pass, for one.”

Bryn sighed heavily while rubbing her forehead. “I had a bad feeling about this the moment I heard the match announcement. There’s no doubt that we are getting sabotaged. Someone really doesn’t want you to succeed and tried putting you up against our strongest warrior.”

“Too bad that they have no idea how monstrous Master’s power is.” Selene smirked slyly.

“Isn’t that the exact reason why we are doing this? To let people know?” Tina giggled quietly.

“Who would do such a thing, though?” Miria pondered out loud.

“Well, we do have a few suspects, like a certain person who is clearly unhappy about the whole thing and is completely against the operation to reclaim the Descending Spire,” Silvia replied.

“That bitch Hilda fits in perfectly.” Grea sneered, crossing her arms under her chest. “We don’t know if that’s all, though. Other sluts from that Council could be in it too. Sorry, Bryn.”

“It’s alright. I can’t deny that, unfortunately.” Their Valkyrie friend smiled wryly. “It looks like we won’t have it easy. Whoever is behind today’s incident is most likely going to keep interfering with us in the following days. Their goal is either the seat on the Council or the failure of our plans. In both scenarios, it would be stupid to believe that they would give up after just a single try.”

“Then we just have to find out who it is and beat them up!” Miria smacked her fist into her palm with an angry expression.

“I’ll try my best to investigate this while you can freely focus on your upcoming battles and having fun,” Bryn said. “I really thought that you would get to experience the proper War Games but it looks like I was wishing for too much. I hope you can still enjoy this event at least to some extent. I’ll try my best to make it up to you in some other way.”

“You don’t need to feel so much down, Bryn.” Asterios reached out over the table and placed his hand over hers to caress it tenderly. “It’s not like this is your fault in any part. And we are certainly having a blast, aren’t we? I don’t think whoever is doing this will touch the other Divisions so we should still be able to get the real, authentic experience watching them.”

“Ast is right.” Tina smiled at her warmly. “If you look at this from another angle, they are making the competition more exciting for us. I think everyone here loves seeing Asterios fight with more effort. If he was against similar opponents as we were, it would have ended before it began. Now, I’m kind of hoping that this unknown conspirator will fix some of our matches too.”

“This will be a great training and warm-up before we take on the challenge of clearing and recovering the Descending Spire. I, for one, would still like to practice my enhanced powers after becoming one with Asterios,” Silvia added and glanced at Ast, showing a barely noticeable blush as their eyes met. “Plus, we can use this ploy against them. The stronger our opponents are, the better we can display our power by using them as stepping stones. I bet people will already talk a lot about Asterios after he defeated this famous warrior woman.”

“That is certainly what is currently happening.”

An unfamiliar voice suddenly replied out of nowhere and everyone raised their gazes to the sky. A Valkyrie in dark armor slowly descended to the ground next to them with slightly awkward movements, clearly having some trouble maneuvering in the air. They quickly recognized the woman as the subject of their recent conversation.

Bryn stood up from their table. “Krev. What are you doing here?”

“Keeping my word. A warrior’s oath is not something to be taken lightly.” The tanned Valkyrie chuckled heartily. ”But, where are my manners? Greetings, Councilor Bryn.”

“Oath?” Bryn raised a curious brow at the other woman.

“She agreed to tell me more about this incident if I managed to best her,” Asterios answered, coming closer too. “How are your injuries?”

“As you can see, I’ve been more or less patched up.” Krev spread her arms and wings to the sides and rotated her body a little in both directions.

“You are missing like one-third of your wing while the other one has a deep gash in it. That’s hardly patched up,” he commented after taking a glance at the scars.

Krev shrugged. “That’s what I get for failing to uphold my part of the deal. I’m sure many people will sleep more peacefully after hearing that I’m left almost crippled after even our healers are unable to take care of the injuries a mysterious outsider inflicted upon me.”

“So, who is the culprit behind all of this?” Bryn asked with a serious expression.

“I’m afraid that I don’t know. Even though I said that I’ll tell you everything, there’s not that much information that I actually have.” She showed an apologetic smile to Asterios. “Someone approached me but they were clearly a proxy, no one special. They wanted me to join the War Games that suddenly popped up. I wasn’t particularly interested but they said that someone powerful would be making an appearance and that I could go talk to Skodul if I wanted to confirm it. I did and got really excited after hearing her out. They contacted me again and told me that they would take care of everything under one condition, that I would quit after it was done so as to not disturb the rest of the event. If I complied, I would get to fight you as soon as possible.”

“Figured,” Silvia said, stroking her chin. “Even if Asterios is their main objective, they are clearly making use of the opportunity to grab the free seat on the Council. If Krev remained in the game, she would have most likely won considering what we know about her strength.”

“It looks like we won’t get any easy answers out of this,” Selene commented with a soft sigh.

“I can at least describe the proxy if you think that would be of use to you.” Krev shrugged.

“It’s always something. If they used someone from lower ranks to do the dirty job for them then I might be able to crack them more easily.” Bryn nodded appreciatively.

“Now, pardon my rudeness, but I just happened to overhear the bit about some grand plan involving the Descending Spire. That piqued my interest a little bit, you know?” The brawny Valkyrie smiled at them.

Bryn glanced at Asterios with an uncertain expression. “I’m not sure if we should be talking about this openly…”

“This might be just my gut feeling, but I think we can trust her.” Asterios reciprocated Krev’s smile with one of his own. “In short, I need to get to the Descending Spire and find something. Bryn is my close companion and wanted to help as much as she can, thus she suggested using Tyr’s forces to aid us. Since the Council said that no one will join a suicide mission relying on activating the Tyr’s Aegis, she petitioned for War Games so that we can use that event to show everyone our strength and convince them that taking back the Spire is not just a pipe dream. And now we are here. That’s the gist of this.”

“Now, that sounds like fun.” Krev laughed openly. “And after experiencing your power first-hand, I’m inclined to believe that you really aren’t overestimating yourself. If all your friends are even half as strong as you, that’s a hell of a death squad you have there.”

“Master hasn't even brought out his full power during your fight!” Miria beamed at the Valkyrie proudly.

“And yet I got almost split in half.” Krev smirked.

Asterios turned to Bryn. “Do you think you would be able to help her recover?”

“Our wings are extremely complex spiritual structures so it would take me a few days but I should be able to succeed. I’m sure that I would be able to perform better if I received your help, Master. Namely, your energy,” she replied with a faint blush.

Krev grinned at her for a brief moment before turning to Asterios again. “Why would you help someone who tried to kill you?”

“Do I need a reason? Besides, we both put our lives on the line during that duel.” He shrugged. “We could definitely use someone of your caliber on our side. I’ve heard that you aren’t part of the military and mostly fight only in the arena but I would like to request your help. Not just your strength is impressive but even your presence would certainly raise the morale of the participating troops when they see their living legend on the battlefield.”

“I see. You are offering to heal me if I agree to fight for you.” She nodded to herself.

“I will do it regardless of your answer,” Asterios clarified. “Aren’t you quite eager to throw yourself into a real battle with hordes of monsters just waiting to be slain by your wings?”

Krev exploded into a booming laugh. “It seems that you’ve read me like an open book after clashing against me just once. Fine. I’m done for anyway. This offer has literally no downsides for me. I promise to cooperate with you to the best of my abilities. I swear on my name and title.”

The girls started applauding right after the oath and Asterios shook hands with Krev. Suddenly, they had gained a valuable ally from their opponent’s nefarious scheme. No one should have been able to predict that.

After that, Bryn and Asterios took their new friend inside and began the treatment. Naturally, Bryn took care of most of the things and preparations. To increase the efficiency of her spells, she even used a myriad of different salves and concoctions to deeply clean all of Krev’s wounds. The muscular Valkyrie was surprised to see her waste so many precious consumables on her but Bryn explained that they had to make sure that her wings recovered back to their original state so that her image could still instill awe in the people.

Asterios knew that it wasn’t just for that reason and that his companion was just this much of a caring person. Therefore, he did his best in assisting Bryn with every small thing and then shared with her as much of his scorching hot energy as she needed. He didn’t skimp on the transfers and channeled it into her directly, usually pressing his palms onto her back, just between her magnificent wings.

For some reason, Krev kept grinning at him while glancing repeatedly at Bryn’s face during the treatment.

The entire operation took them just under two hours and Krev’s wings made a full recovery. Bryn had pushed herself to complete it as soon as possible and exhausted not just her mana but also her mental energy. Since she felt a little weak, Asterios took care of her by taking her to the bathroom and helping her wash off all the sticky sweat after making sure that she didn’t mind his aid. Then, he escorted his winged friend to one of the free rooms and laid her to rest, convincing Bryn that she deserved it after her hard work.

When he returned back to everyone, they talked some more, and Krev promised to do whatever she can to assist with their investigation to find the culprit too. She was quite insistent on it so Asterios relented and asked her to be careful since it would certainly be dangerous for her to dig into this after she had failed her task but suddenly fully recovered.

Then, time passed quickly and days kept flowing by. Asterios and the girls kept coming back to the arena to participate in their matches while Bryn watched over the battles and conducted her research in the meanwhile. As expected, the culprit hadn’t given up and it was clear that Asterios was being set up against the more powerful participants, though no one came anywhere close to Krev.

After a few rounds, even the girls noticed a small spike in difficulty in their matches. No matter what, they overpowered every single opponent in the flashiest possible ways they could imagine. Alongside Asterios, they kept getting more and more attention and the audience seats above their divided fight pits became more crowded each day. It seemed that they had even gathered some fans who continued to cheer them on and applaud their performance all the time.

Naturally, participating in the Power Division’s tournament wasn’t the only thing they did. After the first few days, Asterios started taking the girls out into the city and to the other divisions. Since each person was interested the most in different disciplines, it turned out to be a great opportunity for them to treat their outings as little dates, as per Grea’s idea. Everyone quickly jumped on that and they started watching the War Games in pairs.

Miria often dragged Asterios to enjoy spectating the Precision Division together while snacking on all the delicious food being handed out in the audience. She loved getting all cuddly with her beloved master while various valkyrjas competed in different competitions based on pure skill. Her favorite was of course knife throwing, though the contestants used blades big enough to match her own shortswords.

Selene was more than happy to accompany Asterios during the events taking place under the flag of the Endurance Division. As a martial artist, she liked to watch people struggle against powerful trials and tribulations. The valkyrjas used both magic and strengthening techniques to overcome the challenges and she was even able to learn a thing or two after getting inspired by the show. Getting her tail combed and caressed certainly helped with her focus as Asterios decided to treat his lovely, mischievous vixen to some affection during their time together.

Tina and Silvia were both interested in watching the Arcana Division so they agreed to accompany Asterios interchangeably. Now and then, they came to the audience as a trio and chatted happily about the different types of magic the contestants displayed. Fire and Water Magic captured their attention the most. Both girls spent more casual rather than intimate time with their lover, usually holding hands and sometimes sharing a brief, delicate kiss. They enjoyed just being next to Asterios and talking to him and each other whenever they were together.

Grea took a peek or two at all the divisions alone, not wanting to disturb the others and their rotation too much. Asterios didn’t let her remain on the side and took the demon lady sightseeing whenever it was their turn to spend some time together. The architecture and interesting solutions to numerous daily aspects fascinated her as much as Summoning Magic. Another thing that excited her on a similar level was teasing Asterios and sneaking a lewd act or two into their outings right on the border of getting discovered. The thrill was just too much to pass by.

And, of course, Asterios couldn’t just leave Bryn out of it so he invited his winged friend to spectate the Care Division, trying to talk her into it by convincing her that he really wanted to see the Healing Magic and have her explain what was happening to him in real-time. Thankfully, it worked, and they shared a great time too. Even though he did his best to make it as relaxing and fun as possible, Bryn still focused hard on doing her job and describing the spells and actions. But, she seemed really happy about it so Asterios gave up on talking her out of it and just enjoyed discussing everything with the beautiful Valkyrie.

Then, something unexpected happened.

On the seventh day of the War Games, they were the only ones left in the Power Division. All the other contestants had been eliminated. They stood in the waiting section for the challengers and looked at each other, sure that they would be matched together from this point on.

“What now? Do we give it our all amongst ourselves and let Master win? Or do we just surrender?” Miria asked, tilting her head.

“I have just the perfect idea.” Asterios smiled at them after seeing Bryn flying toward their spot.
