Chapter 44 - Teach

At three o’clock, Coven was admiring the scenery through the window in the office corridor. A voice suddenly sounded from the corner of the corridor, giving him a fright.

“At least you still have some sense of time.”

Snape’s figure was like a big bat. He walked over quickly. The wide sleeves of the wizard’s robe fluttered behind him because he could not keep up with Snape’s speed.

When he came to the office door, Snape waved his hand, and the office door opened.

“Come in.” Snape ordered without looking back and then walked into the office first.

The office looked very dark. There were bottles and jars on the wooden shelves against the wall, which were filled with all kinds of disgusting things.

This scene made Coven recall the basement that almost killed him.

“What are you standing there for? Come here.” Snape was already sitting in the office desk. He saw Coven looking at the room with empty eyes and could not help but urge him.

“Yes, Professor.” Coven came back to his senses and walked to the desk.

Snape did not let Coven sit down. Instead, he tidied up the homework on his desk and said without raising his head, “You said this morning… you were not used to the measuring words I used?”

“Uh, yes, professor.” Coven admitted.

“Then what kind of measurement standard are you used to?” Although Professor Snape was asking, his flat tone made people feel like he was talking to himself.

“Grams, kilograms and so on,” Coven replied.

“Grams…” Snape recalled a little and continued to speak in a flat tone, “I remember that it was an international mass unit defined by Muggle World ninety-nine years ago.”

Coven was speechless and thought that Snape knew too much. To be honest, Coven had never studied the origin of these things, but he had always been used to it.

At this time, Snape continued, “In the future, forget those muggles and learn the standard of wizard’s world.”

“I think… it might take some time.” Coven responded with some difficulty.

“Remember your current identity.” Snape warned, “You are no longer a Muggle, but a wizard. In the wizard’s world, do not believe in those so-called standards. You must believe in wizard’s intuition.”

“Intuition?” Coven felt that this was very magical, but it was too unscientific.

At this time, Snape arranged all the documents in front of him, pushed them to the edge of the table, and looked up at Coven.

“Intuition, it is the standard to judge whether a wizard is successful or not.” Snape was not strange now, but seriously explained: “In terms of magic spells, wizard, who uses magic spells based on his intuition, usually has a higher achievement than those who use magic spells.”

“In terms of Potion, not only can he make medicine according to the standard of the amount of herb used in the book, because not all of the herbs in the world has the same amount of medicine.”

Hearing this, Coven was deep in thought.

Snape stopped explaining, and after a while, he continued, “So, you have to rely on your intuition to feel that when concocting medicine, should I add a little more or reduce it a little?”

“Just like this morning, although the herbs you added into the crucible seem to be the same as the one your classmate added before, the medicinal effect of the herbs you chose is obviously less than the one your classmate used before.”

“In this situation, you need to rely on your intuition. You should add a little more herbs to ensure the success of the potions brewing.”

“There is also the stirring of the potion. It also needs to rely on intuition to feel what speed, strength, and direction to stir the medicine.”

At this point, Snape finally couldn’t help but say in a flat tone of contempt, “Do you think one will be able to master Potion as long as he studies to death like other courses?”

After listening to Snape’s big pile of words, Coven was a little speechless.

“To concoct a perfect potion, you have to use intuition everywhere.” Professor Snape looked into Coven’s eyes and slowly said, “By intuition, choose the herbs’ dosage, rely on intuition to control the temperature of the crucible, rely on intuition to adjust the way to stir the potion.”

“Only by relying on intuition to perfectly coordinate these three steps can one concoct the most perfect potions. Otherwise, if any of the steps are not perfect, then the potion brewed can only be considered qualified. The efficacy of the potion is so weak that it is a waste of herbs.”

‘A perfectionist’

Coven finally understood Professor Snape’s character, but he was not qualified to evaluate it.

“I understand. Thank you for your guidance, professor.” Coven thanked him earnestly and politely.

“In the future…” Professor Snape did not care about Coven’s thanks and continued, “Get used to my measurement standards as soon as possible and get used to the use of the scale as soon as possible. Try to feel your own intuition more.”

Coven nodded. “I will.”

“You can go out now.” Professor Snape asked him to leave.

“That… Professor.” Coven did not take his leave. Instead, he looked hesitant.

“Is there anything else?” Professor Snape said calmly.

Coven continued hesitantly, “Professor, can you make a potion now?”

When Snape heard this, his eyes stared straight at Coven for a long time before he stood up without a word. He quickly walked out from behind the desk and walked to the storage rack like a drifting drift, picking out some herbs from the herb’s cabinet.

Back at the desk, Snape set up the scale, crucible, and other tools, and without a word, he grabbed a stalk of Herbology, wanting to grind it into powder.

“Wait a minute, professor!”

Coven suddenly spoke, causing Snape to stop and turn to look at him.

“The herbs… can you let me take a look first?” Coven asked.

Snape finally had an expression on his face. He frowned slightly and stared at Coven for a moment. Then he continued to pass the herbs over without a word. Coven stretched out his palm and placed the herbs on it. Then he closed his eyes.

After all, he has mastered the Body Combat Technique. Although he didn’t know what intuition was, as a martial artist, Coven still had a slight sixth sense.

After a while, Coven opened his eyes and returned the herbs to Professor Snape.

Next, Coven felt all the herbs that Professor Snape was going to use and then carefully sensed the potion that Professor Snape stirred.

When the potion was perfectly made, Coven glanced at Professor Snape and then did not speak. He silently picked up another piece of herbs and began to make the potion.

Watching Coven put the herbs into the potion, control the heat, stir the brew, Snape’s face could no longer hold back and revealed a shocked expression…
