...

...

I looked at the white wall in a dim hotel room.

I closed my eyes for the tenth time as the back of my head gently hit the wall behind me.

After a moment of silence I opened my eyes only to once again stare at the empty wall.

...

The police had found witnesses that had confirmed Coco's report. In another note, being a huntress in training did seem to give some trust in the eyes of the police.

Weiss... had... she had been escorted? Back to her hotel. How did her bodyguards come so fast? They had most likely been watching us from not too far... yet too far to actually help in time.

Coco had to go back to Beacon... I declined when she asked if I needed company for the night.

I'm fine.

...

I'm fine. I definitely was... yet.

Why do I feel so useless?

It was like a mess of dark thoughts weighing me down. I felt stressed, pressured... uneasy.

More than anyone, I was the one who knew my own weaknesses... at least I thought I did.

...

..

.

I closed my eyes...

Next thing tomorrow. I was going to get my weapon made... no matter the cost.

After that I would call Mavis and plan to make some Lien.

... fighting grimm.

I was unsure. Going alone to kill them or with a random group of mercenaries sounded like a good way to get killed.

Coco was busy... Weiss was an option.

She might like the idea of honing her skills before entering Beacon.

Also I had to make up my mind if I wanted to go to Beacon... the last day to register was coming closer.

I need Lien.

Lien to buy dust...

Lien to make my weapon...

Lien to pay for shooting training...

Lien for gacha...

...

I had tried to not think about the random attack today.

It was too quick and random to be due to junior... someone else more likely.

Was it due to me or my friends?

Random attack or grudge?

I didn't know... It could have been a random chance too for all I know, which was nothing.

I didn't see the attackers. Only the black car with dark windows. The first car seemed to have pushed us out of the road according to Coco... the second to confirm the effect?

My only connection to underground was Junior... he was also an information broker if I was not wrong.

My prank might have been a bit childish, but it was also harmless and a show of power... 'I was not helpless' was what it screamed to the criminal leader... I hope,

Also... I did share some info about Yang. He may have said I owed him for the alcohol, but he was also the one who had promised me free drinks for the night... in fact it was 'The Xiong clan' that owed me... I also had something to ask. At least now I did.

"Haaahhhh..." I breathed out deep.

I opened my eyes, seeing the dim room and white wall once again.

I don't know what the future will bring.

To depend on knowledge I know from before coming to Remnant would be suicidal. Also it didn't seem to be completely true or accurate either.

"Enoughhh...." I muttered frustrated.

My head had thought these things over and over again since coming back to the hotel room. I could not sleep.

In times like this only one thing can calm me down.

I sent my aura to the gem hanging from my neck. A small pink glow flashed and a white gourd with a small crack on it appeared from empty air.

*Plop!*

A fruity fragrance rose from the gourd in front of me.

I took a sip with a steady swing of my left hand. My right arm was still throbbing, the pain almost gone.

"ahh..." A wave of heat washed over my body as I drank the clear liquid.

Now...

...

'Buy 1 token (R Grade) with 10 000 coins?'

I clicked 'yes'

Gone were the days when such amounts made me sweat.

I am stronger now.

I silently swept my forehead from the water dripping from my still wet hair...

I had gone to shower some hours ago after all...

'Do you wish to use 1 token (R Grade)?'

I clicked 'yes' again.

I watched while hearing my heart racing against the spinning wheel' unnatural speed.

A moment later the golden wheel slowed down.

Chest made of meat, one with a plant on top, golden one... one on fire.

...

Finally the wheel stopped.

To my excitement...

and disappointment.

It stopped on a completely white chest.

It seemed rather plain among the many amazing other ones.

It was not particularly big or small... Was it average? Regular sized among them all.

'Congratulations! You got a treasure chest!'

In a practiced manner I had clicked the chest open.

It trembled and opened without any particular light or spark? It was almost uncanny... bizarre.

'Congratulations! You got Lost Tome (Book of Lorekeeper)'

It was... a book?

I clicked the image of an white book with some kind of golden symbol on it.

With a small flash of pink, a heavy white book dropped to my lap.

I felt a spike in my aura for a heart beat... then it was gone... weird.

Like all the gacha items I got more information as I touched the white hard leather book. I let my finger trail the golden symbol of the book with no title.

A book of Lorekeeper... keeper of stories? Someone who records stories?

I got that if I wanted to release the potential of this magical book I had to record stories into it... ones that had value of some sort.

I opened the book and swept through the pages... They were all empty. Like I had already thought.

"Haahh..." Troublesome.

I closed the empty book and looked at the golden symbol. A triangle and two feathers crossed? Most likely quills...

I closed my eyes...

I didn't feel sleepy.

I opened my eyes.

I had one story to record at least...

...

..

.

I hope this doesn't take all night.
