Tsuyoshi reached out for the lapels of Zelko's jacket and pulled him close. It was polyester, and clearly borrowed from someone else, but he still looked good. He looked really, really good.

Zelko's big hand landed on Tsuyoshi's lower back, and pulled him even closer.

"Did you go to all this effort for me?" Tsuyoshi asked.

"Of course I did. Who else would I button up a shirt for?"

Not that he'd buttoned it all the way to the top – he was pretty sure that Zelko was allergic to buttoning the top two – and of course he hadn't bothered with a tie. He looked hot, anyway.

Tsuyoshi pushed his hands up over Zelko's shoulders and around his neck, then looked him up and down and all over.

He found himself blinking in surprise. "Is that a gun in your pocket?"

Zelko shrugged. "Better safe than sorry."

"Who are you planning to shoot?"

"We'll see where the night takes us."

"Oh, baby, don't get me hot like this."

Zelko kissed him, slick and hot. Tsuyoshi dragged him down further, aggressive, and Zelko got just as aggressive to match. It was only fun if they tore each other apart. He felt angrier every moment that they couldn't touch without risking death, just because they were trapped by a mysterious sadist.

He pulled away from the kiss and dropped his head on Zelko's shoulder, already tired. He felt like he'd been running all day, as if there were anywhere to go.

"I hate this party," he mumbled.

Zelko kissed his temple, his cheekbone, and it almost enticed him into lifting his head.

"You seemed like you were enjoying it before," Zelko said.

"The people here are stupid and I hate that I can't do the things I want to do to you and I hate it here, I want to go home."

"Baby, we all want to go home. Nobody wants to be stuck here."

Zelko put a hand to Tsuyoshi's jaw and tilted his face up, so he couldn't look away. He didn't know what that expression meant, but he submitted to another kiss, opened his mouth wide like he could suck Zelko's soul right into his body.

Maybe then he could hide from this ugly feeling inside him.

They were interrupted by Colonel Huppert, of all people, bumping into them and saying, "Gentlemen, I think you should take that one outside."

Tsuyoshi narrowed his eyes. That guy was definitely the kind of guy who'd obnoxiously made out with women in bars, he'd put money on it.

Before he could start a fight over it, Zelko grabbed at his arm and said that they would.

He let himself get dragged out. The night was colder outside, more spacious. Better. He felt less like a rat in a trap that wanted to chew off its own leg.

Still something within him threatened to explode at any moment but there was only Zelko there to embarrass himself in front of. And Zelko didn't care.

They kissed until they couldn't stand it any more, until the pressure of not being able to do anything more than that got too depressing to stand. Zelko had cigarettes and a lighter in his other pocket, and when he lit up the sparking end was bright against the dark blue of the night.

For a moment Tsuyoshi thought he saw the scrolling sign affixed to the outside of the second storey of the hospital flash with 'Its choking me', but he blinked and it was gone. Plain old 'Stay in good health' scrolling across like it always did until approximately eleven at night. Must be seeing things, he thought. Must be more tired than he realised.

Tsuyoshi stole the cigarette from Zelko, and Zelko used his mouth to kiss his cheek instead. He started to feel as if Zelko's arm around his waist was the only thing that kept him upright. Like the doctor's cheap and nasty red wine was sloshing about inside him, ready to tip him in the wrong direction.

He pulled himself closer to Zelko, to the nice warm smell of him.

In the distance someone walked a quick path in front of the hospital. Severely cropped dark hair, hunched over posture, those weirdly small steps. Definitely Neo. Neo that nobody liked enough to invite to a party. Nobody would care if he hurt Neo.

Tsuyoshi passed the cigarette back to Zelko. "Give me the gun."

Something he really loved about Zelko was the way he didn't bother to ask questions when he said things like that. Just gave him what he wanted and let him go with it.

Tsuyoshi loaded, aimed. The shot bounced off the gravel not far from Neo's feet, and slammed itself into one of the walls.

"What are you doing?" Neo yelled.

"Trying to see if you can dance," Tsuyoshi declared, loud as he could. He felt like borrowing the attitude from one of those old cowboy films, like he would swagger into a saloon and win in a quick draw.

He shot at the ground again, just far enough away from Neo's feet that he was sure nobody would have to do surgery tonight. Neo jumped, anyway. Panicked, maybe. Maybe smart enough to realise Tsuyoshi could decide to stop trying to miss any time he liked.

"You're a psycho," Neo said.

Well, he would know.

"You're a natural," Zelko said, and kissed Tsuyoshi's hair.

"Is this a private party or can anyone join?" Tsuyoshi hadn't noticed Tabitha coming out of the building but there she was, leaning against the wall three paces down, one hand on the revolver she'd stuffed in her purse.
