‘The captain loses consciousness after witnessing too much of his daughter’s cuteness’

‘He gets up off the floor quickly and looks around’

Who are you speaking about, sir?

The boy, the one I sent you to get, I mean the boy you brought back with you.

He’s in the back room. I’ll get him for you. “James, get in here. I’ve got someone here you should meet.”

‘Back door opens’

Ahh, there he is. Young man, have you ever fired a gun before?

“No sir, I haven’t.”

Ahh, come on, what kind of introduction is that you meet the kid for the first time and that’s what you say?

Calm down Sachi. I’m just being straight forward we have no time to waste. The rebel forces are getting stronger every day and we could use more manpower. If he can prove himself useful, then I won’t have to come up with a foolish reason for why I have a non-national working on board this submarine. Come with me boy, I’m taking you to the range.

‘The captain and James arrived at the range’

“Yes, sir, I haven’t. I don’t even know what one feels like.”

Then pay attention. It’s simple, just make sure the guns loaded properly, safety off, pull back, aim and let it rip.

‘Bow-bow sound of gun firing off’

Once done, take your finger off the trigger, safety on, put it back in your holster. I’ve never seen someone make that face before. Are you alright, kid?

Here, take this: It’s a 9mm semiautomatic 1A pistol. Its maximum firing range is 100m and effective firing range is 50 m or 55yards, this is what it looks like with 15 in the clip. It will be your new friend. Love it, kiss it and take care of it likes it’s your child. I hope Sachi filled you in because you’ll be training with Marcel until your new weapon is ready.

“She said it will take three days.”

‘The captain’s gun goes off in his holster while he walks off’

“Huh, did your gun just?”

‘Sachi comes in running,’ “What happened? I heard a loud noise.”

‘James turns around sweating,’ W-e-l-l the captain kind a sort of shot his leg.

“What do you mean, he shot his leg?”

Well, he was showing me how to use a gun and how you should put the safety on after you’re done and well; I guess he forgot to put the safety on, and this happened.

‘Sachi goes over to the captain,’ “You feel like an idiot now, don’t you?”

“Well. I was wondering, everyone around here seems to be quite older than you and, well, this is the military. I mean, how could someone like you be here and why? You said it yourself. You’re not that older than me, so you’re just a kid. Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be home with your family, having fun or going to school? At least that’s what I heard normal people do.”

Well, I guess I’m not normal then. So what if I’m not as old as everyone else? It doesn’t make me less to work here than you are. Everyone got their own demons that they face every day and mines ly back at home. I made it my decision to leave. The captain sought me out on his own. He heard the story of a young girl orphaned who was very good at making things, and now here I am, one of the best engineers around working in a military submarine. My father, his name was James Colt. He used to work for the military and before he died, he always used to talk about how free he felt and how much fun he had doing what he did. Everyone complimented his work. They said he was the best of the best and no one could compare. He created weapons that blew away the Tamien forces back in 1880. He’s the reason our army won the last war and now I’m doing the same. A lot of innocent people died back then, and I refuse to let that happen again.

“I didn’t mean it like that. You seemed to have fun that day when we were running from my kidnappers and the look on your face, you looked so happy. I just wondered if you missed your normal life, being outside doing stupid things and getting away with it.”

‘Beep Beep’

“What now?” ‘Sachi looks up to see another idiot.’

You like the whip? This baby’s custom made by yours truly, kid, Sachi’s not the only engineer around these parts. Check this out. I finished it last night. It’s a super-fast mini car. I built it to move around the submarine faster and it hasn’t let me down yet.

It will eventually. Face it Marcel, nothing you make hold up for long. Remember the super-fast mini plane and the super-fast skateboard you made? We had to carry you to the clinic afterwards. Don’t you learn from your mistakes like a normal person?

They aren’t mistakes, so there isn’t anything to learn from. Any who, I came to collect my little apprentice over here. So, kid, what’s your name?

“I’m James, sir.”

I don’t know what you’re talking about, Idiot. Just take him and leave already. I feel like I’m suffocating with all the cologne you wear. James, just leave everything on the table. I can handle it from here. Your training starts with Marcel today. Have fun and try not to pick up any of his gross habits. He has a lot.

‘In the training room’

Okay kid, as you heard, my name is Marcel, and I’ll be your trainer. Before we start, let me give you the rundown. Everyone on board this submarine is working in secret. Our captain, you met him earlier. He receives and gives orders, so he isn’t as powerful as you think. The people on this submarine comprises into five groups. First, we have the crew; they handle everything from cleaning of the sub to its handling. Then we have the lab and clinical scientist they deal with our health. The engineer sector, that’s just Sachi and well you since you’re giving her a hand and then theirs us bodyguards. We watch over and protect or captain whenever necessary. I’ll tell you more about that in a minute and lastly there’s the captain, he’s our boss and the one who keeps everything together. It may not look like it, but he’s the reason we can work so well with one another.

Now, the captain allowed you to stay under one condition: you have to prove yourself useful. At this very moment, there’s a spot open in the bodyguard sector. It used to be five of us, now it’s just four. You’ll meet the rest of the team eventually, but for now, you know me. I am the captain’s right hand. I use two blades when I battle, and I’ve killed over 200 men and counting. Lieutenant Sim’s she’s the captains left hand she carries around one blade and its one hell of a beast when it hits, she’s the strongest out of the group and ill even say the scariest which makes her even more beautiful than she already is.

I’m going to marry her one day, mark my words, James, she will be mine.

Let’s cut to the chase. Have you ever heard of the Maze X serum?

Well, it’s a serum that our military secret bio facility had been working on a while back and after they tested it on their lab rats, they tested on humans. Ten people, to be exact. I know a lot about it because I’m one of the ten people they tested on. What the serum does is that it deconstructs and reconstructs the cells in the body, turning them into new stronger cells. Doh, there are side effects you either stand to lose or gain. Lose as in your life and gain as in something not humanly possible. For instance, lieutenant Sim is ridiculously strong. It also improves the body to become 50x better than it was before. That includes things like your health and regeneration capabilities.

If you agree to become part of the captain’s guard unit, you’ll have to take the shot just like everyone else. Chances of survival is 50% and out of the ten people injected only 8 survived it may not seem like much but what we’ve learned over the years is that you can increase your chances of survival by either having O Positive blood or training your body to its peak fit level. And after further testing, we concluded that it takes about 3 months while using our specially made training tanks, of course, to achieve something like that.

It will be your choice. That’s the cost for staying in this submarine. To be honest with you, we didn’t want it to be this way, but there’s nothing we can do. The captain gave his orders, but don’t worry, I’ll do everything in my power to get you where you need to be. I won’t let you die. I give you my word.

“So all I have to do is train my body so I would stand a higher chance of not dying? I can do it. If it wasn’t for Sachi, I wouldn’t have a life to begin with, back where she found me was an old village and they believed in sacrificing young kids so that the gods will continue to protect their village and no plagues should take them. She saved me from that, she saved me from dying I owe her my life and I also owe myself something worth living for, I’m willing to take the risk cause if it pays off I can protect her I can protect Sachi just as she did me.”

“LETS DO THIS.”
