After the breakfast dinner, which had been filled with awkward silence ever since Aurianna made her bold statement, many started leaving the hall.
Many of their faces were covered with unease and a slight hint of fear. No one dared to speak of the incident.
Ralph was one of the first to leave, making sure not to make eye contact with her again, still fearful of her.
Concubine Cecilia and her child had left the hall soon after, along with most of the other concubines.
King Girsal, after eating slightly, exclaimed that he had important work to do. He patted Aurianna’s head gently before leaving, Queen Amber lagging behind him.
Now the only people remaining in the hall were Vatium, Concubine Momo and Aurianna.
Vatium stood, "Mother, I would be going to the library.”
She nodded in response, “Okay, just don’t stay out too late honey.”
Vatium, with a smile, pushed in his seat, walking towards the hall doors.
Aurianna's eyes were fixed on him like an eagle to its prey. She was still curious about him.
Like Eva mentioned she must’ve had her memory of him erased since he became the demon lord. Were they close? What was his personality like? Those were things she intended to find out.
She decided to scarf down the rest of her food quickly, starting to tail behind Vatium who had just made his way out of the dining hall.
As he made his way through the castle halls many servants waved at him. He smiled kindly and a few times he would stop to have a brief conversation with them as well. Just simple things like how things were looking on the grounds or how their family was doing.
From what she could see behind the many pillars she hid behind as she trailed him, he was well liked. He had a very calm and welcoming energy to him that many were clearly drawn to.
'Didn't he have golden eyes before?' Aurianna was thinking to herself, a confused expression.
His eyes were a strong green, very reminiscent of the King. He was clearly his blood, even if he didn’t have birthright or claim to the throne yet.
'I have to know more about him, and what led him to be a demon lord,' Aurianna had a determined look as she continued to follow him, making sure to be as well hidden as possible.
At this point she had been so engrossed in her thoughts that when she looked around the pillar, the spot he’d been at previously was noticeably empty. He was gone!
In confusion, Aurianna stepped out from the pillar a bit, squinting ahead.
“Hmm. Why is my little sister following me?”
Aurianna jumped from the sudden voice calling behind her. She quickly turned to meet a pair of emerald eyes directly in front of her.
Vatium was standing with his arms crossed, an amused but very focused expression on his face.
Aurianna smirked nervously, "W-well, because I haven't seen brother Vatium for a long time!"
Vatium gave her a slightly skeptical look as a deep silence burrowed itself between the two. Aurianna just smiled cheekily, really trying to lay on the charm.
He sighed, smiling warmly, "If you say so. So, do you want to go on a walk with me then?" He stretched out his hand to Aurianna.
"Sure," Aurianna agreed with a fake smile plastered across her face. She grabbed his hand, the two walking through the castle halls.
A couple servants had awe-stricken faces upon seeing the two. The sight must’ve been absolutely adorable to them. Walking next to Vatium, it was apparent that he was the older sibling.
The top of her head barely reached his shoulders. She wasn’t sure if she was super short, or if Vatium was just tall for his young age.
They walked in silence but it wasn’t an awkward one. Aurianna was deep in thought, still thinking about his identity.
Eventually they made their way out of the castle. Now walking in the nearby garden Aurianna decided to finally break the silence.
She flipped on the innocent little sister's smile, “How old are you brother?”
Vatium looked down at her, "I guess I'd be 13 years old this year, and you're…” He looked away from her, his fingers on his chin, a thoughtful expression on his face, “five right?"
"Yes, I can't wait to grow up," Aurianna said with a big smile on her face.
Vatium nodded, a slightly pleased expression on his face. He was glad he said the correct age.
However, his smile slightly changed to a worried frown, he glanced at her, "Let me be direct. Aurianna, why did you kill that butler? You knew he wasn't at fault.”
"I didn't kill him because of Ralph, but because he looked at me dishonorably! I couldn't stand that look and I only felt calm once he was dead," Aurianna said with a sadistic smile on her face.
Vatium just looked at her as he smiled, kneeling down to hug her.
"While I can’t say I agree, I won't judge you. We’re family after all! By the way I'll be leaving for the Mystical Academy, so as I'm gone you gotta take care of yourself," Vatium had a warm smile on his face as he released Aurianna from her hug, patting her head.
"Brother Vatium," Aurianna called out.
"Yes?"
"Don't worry when I grow up I'm gonna protect you," Aurianna claimed as he tugged his sleeve.
"Shouldn't I be the one saying that?" Vatium laughed.

'Of course I have to protect you, you warned me but I didn't listen. What's more you'll be a very important asset in bringing the kingdom of Sandeph,' Aurianna thought as a sinister grin appeared on her face but disappeared once Vatium looked at her.
"Just learn hard and once you become 10 years old you can ask father let you enroll into the Mystical Academy," Vatium encouraged.
"Sure," Aurianna replied with a smile.
'The Mystical Academy I'm surely curious about such a school. In my past life I remember it was a place where anyone of any kingdom or race can join. The school isn't based on who you are or how much money you have but rather the skills and intelligence one posses. And fighting between any race is prohibited and anyone who breaks the rules and kills one of another race would also be killed. This is why most of the nobles hate that school, because even talented commoners are allowed in and I like it. Once I achieve my objective of receiving the Saintess title I shall enroll there,' Aurianna thought as she continued to walk with Vatium.
Vatium then picked up a rose as he placed it in Aurianna's hair.
"Huh," Aurianna muttered, confused by the sudden gesture.
"Flowers look lovely on you," Vatium said as he smiled at Aurianna.
"I see," Aurianna looked away from him, a slightly uncomfortable expression on her face.
"You're just like a lovely flower," Vatium complimented.
"Pffft," Aurianna giggled dryly.
"As beautiful as flowers are, they are weak, that's why a flower like a rose protects itself with thorns so it doesn't get plucked out easily. And I would never let myself appear as a beautiful weak flower," Aurianna said with a sinister smile.
Vatium had a blank look on his face as he watched AUrianna before smiling, patting her head once more.
"Of course you mustn't let yourself be a weak flower, but a flower that makes others fear it. A poisonous flower is much better.”
"I'll keep that in mind," Aurianna said, “Could brother escort me to my room?" Aurianna asked Vatium sweetly.
"Why not?" Vatium laughed. He turned around, crouching low.
Aurianna held a confused expression before realizing what he wanted her to do. He pointed to his back and slowly but surely, she climbed on. As he stood, she felt a gust of wind as she was on his shoulders. She felt like a kid again!
While she technically was one, mentally she wasn’t. But somehow, she had that feeling of wonder and innocent excitement with the rush of doing something new. In her previous life she never experienced something like this. She was beaming from ear to ear.
Vatium walked inside the castle again, making his way towards the direction of her room.
"Aurianna, as you can use magic it's better if you don't showcase all your skills. Your power can catch the curiosity and earn loathing from other people," Vatium warned as he looked at Aurianna with a concerned face.
"Don't worry brother, I'll be careful," Aurianna responded.
Upon reaching Aurianna’s room, he lowered her down.
"Well here we are!" Vatium announced excitedly.
She smiled, “Thank you big brother.”
"No problem. I guess I won't be able to see you anytime soon though," Vatium said, a hint of sorrow at his voice.
She turned after entering her room, waving, “I’ll still see you again. Thanks again, big brother Vatium.”
He flashed a warm smile before waving, the doors closing in front of him.
The second the doors closed and the sound of Vatium’s footsteps grew further and further, Eva appeared, floating in the air.
"Aurianna, something about that boy feels strange," Eva had a worried expression on her face.
"Was he reborn?" Aurianna asked as she was now walking around the room, fidgeting with her things. Checking her bed and her closet, which had many many clothes in it.
Eva followed Aurianna as she proceeded to make her way through the room, nodding adamantly, "He definitely was, but I don't know how since I didn't interfere. But there's some strange feeling I get from him which I can't tell. A familiar yet unfamiliar feeling…”
"Maybe you're just thinking too much Eva," Aurianna had an unconcerned expression as she shrugged.
With Aurianna voicing her opinion out of the way, she jumped onto her bed completely exhausted. It felt like being in a cloud as she sunk into the mattress.
Eva had her finger on her chin as she started spinning in a small circle in the air, "Maybe but it's never too bad to be extra cautious, I’d say the opposite, being someone who doesn’t think enough is worse.” She gave Aurianna a purposeful look before sighing, “Also I may be powerful but there are beings more powerful than me.
Aurianna, not picking up on Eva’s subtle jab at her intelligence gave her a determined look, "Well anyway. The maids think I'll be playing in my room the whole day so won't it be better to teach me some stuff?"
"Oh yeah I remember, you're not academically good," Eva muttered, a disappointed look on her face.
"So what!!" Aurianna growled. She shuffled on the bed, moving so she was sitting in a criss-crossed position, “That’s why you’re here. To teach me.”
She gave her a cheeky grin.

"A new fruit is growing and it's much sweeter when it's ripe. So I shall wait till when that new born fruit is ripe and devour it with relish," a voice whispered. As an image of Aurianna in her room appeared on the person’s palm.
"Oh how I can't wait for you to grow and ripen Aurianna," A dark sinister smile lined the face of the individual as they gazed with their golden and rainbow colored eyes.
