「Don’t you dare lie down when your hair isn’t dry.」
I read the note while rolling on the bed. I could tell from the neat and textbook-like handwriting that it was written by Camian. What a nagger. Then I saw another memo written on the back.
「I’m going out to eat dinner at Mr. Corner’s place. Don’t wait for me. I’ll be home a bit late. See you soon.」
“Wow… this bastard really planned to go alone.”
Scrunch!
The memo note crumpled into a mass of ball.
“Should I just screw it and go to the farm as well?”
I tightened both fists in determination but gave up. I knew well that Camian was annoyed with me. I’d only be luggage, a trouble if I went. If only it was not thatday, I’d have gone without a problem and ignored his complaints. He’ll calm down later on. He likes it when I’m around him, after all.
But in regards to thatday… it was the day when Liv and Camian fulfilled their written contract, a secret that only they knew.
Demons could grant the wish of a human and in return they’d gain ownership of their soul in the afterlife, consuming the soul as mana for nourishment or combine it with another demon’s physical body to create a powerful soldier. There were many methods to use a soul, but the important factor that came to it was that souls would lose ownership, lose their personality and ego, only to be used as a tool and cease to exist living thereafter. They’ll neither experience heaven nor hell.
It was frightful, but I was not fearful. It was not me that made the contract butLiv.
To demons, a soul was a rare and expensive commodity sought out by many. Occasions of a demon absorbing a human soul after death and another demon intervening only to snatch the human soul often occurred.
Therefore, to prevent this occurrence, demons regularly drank the blood of the humans contracted to them. Their soul would be bound to them, like a human writing their name on an object to claim as their own.
Camian… we’d go through the ritual binding every fifteen days. When we were young, he’d cut a small piece of my finger and suck the blood from there, but it was difficult to properly bind the soul with receiving only a meager amount of blood. Thereafter, he bit directly onto my neck.
It’s why I have teeth marks on the left side of my neck from the many binding rituals. The wounded mark would never go away.
“I swear I’ll eat until I can’t no more tonight.”
Whenever the ritual was formed, what energy is left would be completely spent and drained away. I’d not even be able to lift a finger. Hmm… actually, I could live with the energy drained though I’d not be so enthusiastic with my health flailing back and forth. There was another reason, another side effect to the ritual.
That is… that I’d become sexually excited.
The more blood he sucked out of me, the higher the sexual excitement. As only a few drops of blood had been taken when I was a small child, this sexual side effect never occurred.
And to reduce this, I’d need to be rational and my belly completely full, but on days when my energy was thoroughly spent, I’d faint or lose all self-control and go wild with instinctual thoughts left. When that occurred… it was Camian who had to deal with the after mess.
That one time… I rubbed my cheek on his chest pleading“Please do something, anything…”not flirtatiously but crying and begging. The thought of it was embarrassing. But after that, I made sure to keep my health a priority and my belly full.

“Yeah… it’s a good decision not to follow him, after all.
And he had no plans to bring me with him.
I jumped off the bed and pulled out a chair.
The room was too dark. I pulled the curtain to the side and a red-colored afternoon sky was in full view. The night would come soon… faster than I imagined.
After taking a painstakingly long time to dry my hair, I then climbed onto the soft and comfortable bed.
