Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Land Of Waves

A  week passed by and they all finally reached the Wave country by crossing the giant river. After entering the wave country both Kakashi and Naruto went into an alert state. Tazuna disclosed everything about the mission by telling them the name of the person who was after his life. Knowing that such a big shot in the underworld was after him Kakashi realized that this was just the beginning and more attacks were to come so he was on his guard whereas, in the case of Naruto, it was because he knew that Zabuza was going to attack them at least that's what he did in the original story so he was also careful.

Sensing the tense vibes coming out from both Kakashi Sensei and Naruto the rest of the group also tensed up and heightened their senses to react to any unwanted situation immediately. After walking in the forest for a few hours they soon got the tired feeling that nothing was happening it was then that Tazuna's voice entered their ears.

"We've arrived my house is just a few minutes away from here." Hearing his voice brought relief to tired legs of Sakura as she said while wiping the sweat covering her forehead with her forearm, "Finally, we've arrived." 

It was the same for Sasuke but he didn't show it like Sakura. Kakashi Sensei was also relieved but he made sure to remain on guard till they have finally arrived. "Wait...Zabuza's not coming for us?" Naruto thought to himself and realized that the story was changing its original direction.

Soon they reached Tazuna's house and he welcomed all with open hands and told her daughter to take good care of them. He knew how to be kind because he knew that these people were clearly doing him a large favour by still continuing the mission. They could have outright rejected him for falsifying the mission difficulty and he would have lost both his money and source of protection.

Tazuna made sure to tell his daughter about the favour the ninjas were doing for him and the village so that she could treat them better. Tsunami understood the task and after greeting all the Team-7 members went to the kitchen to prepare a nice meal for them all. While the meal was being prepared Naruto and the rest freshened up turn by turn and by the time they all had taken a bath the mouth-watering aroma of the food entered their nose.

Soon everyone sat at the dining table and engrossed themselves in eating the delicious meal prepared by Tsunami. Inari was also there eating with them all, the conversation that happened was quite the same as that in the original leading to the mentioning of Tsunami's husband and Inari going mad and running away. This time though Naruto didn't give a shit about Inari, he had a good meal to finish like hell he'll allow it to cool down by talking some sense into that kid.

In the evening Kakashi Sensei took them to the forest and demonstrated to them walking on the trees. Naruto quickly showed Kakashi Sensei that he had already mastered the technique and wanted to learn to walk on water now. "Alright, let me first see how Sakura and Sasuke do it before leaving them to themselves to practice and showing you how to walk on the water." Kakashi Sensei said and observed Sasuke and Sakura who soon recovered from their previously awed expressions.

They were impressed by Naruto's skills and now wanted to impress him aswell so both of them tried walking on the tree trunk but since it was their first attempt it was natural for them to fall down, Sakura though managed to stay on the tree for a bit longer but still she slammed her butt on the ground soon enough.

With that Kakashi Sensei left both of them to themselves and took Naruto near a river nearby and showed by how to walk on water by constantly regulating his chakra relative to the changing water surface. He explained to him the important things he need to pay attention to and finally left Naruto to practice, he needed to pay attention to protect Tazuna so he couldn't watch them throughout their practice.

At a big building inside the jungle not very far away from the bridge but was hidden quite well in the jungle. Two people were being scolded by a small-statured person who was surrounded by a group of thugs. "Tazuna has already reached the village and by tomorrow will start the bridge construction. What the hell are you ninjas doing? I've paid so much for you guys and still, you all are not doing your money's worth."

"You don't need to worry about him because his death is certain," Zabuza said in a voice filled with blood lust. Seeing his face made Gato feel as if he was a sheep that was being preyed on by a wolf but he made sure to not show the fear on his face harrumphed and walked away after saying "You better keep your word."

"Should I kill him for you?" Haku said after Gato had left.

"No need at least not yet, he pays us well which allows us to live soundly as rogue ninjas." Zabuza said and relaxed back into the chair as he continued, "We'll start our mission in a few days, it doesn't matter how long it takes anyway since the bridge would take three months or more to be completed. You should go about and find some useful information about the ninjas responsible for protecting him."

"I understand Zabuza sama." Haku said to Zabuza.

The next day Naruto who was practising by the riverside in the morning heard the footsteps of a person coming towards him. He looked back only to find the face of the person he had been wanting to meet with. Haku slowly walked towards the riverside as his hair blew back because of the wind which revealed the whole of his face to Naruto. Naruto stopped breathing for a while when he saw this happening. The first rays of the morning sun passing through the gaps in between the leaves above complemented his beauty which made Naruto even more infatuated.
