Chapter 33: Volume 1, Chapter 32 (Bonus Chapter 3): Painful Nostalgia

1905 hours, 30 June 0145…

Inside Commander Katoki's office I, Axel, Christine, Joshua, Scott, and Veronica are still waiting for the 2 newly transferred Authonoids to arrive at this office by sitting on the office couch. Despite Commander Katoki's mentioned that the 2 newly transferred Authonoids will arrive at 1900, they're still not arrived yet for more than 5 minutes.

"It's been 5 minutes, and they're not arrived yet," Said Axel while looking at his watch impatiently.

"They could be in a slight trouble, where some terrorist is threatening their flight," I replied to him, jocularly.

"What makes you think like that?" Joshua asked as he glanced at me.

After a few seconds, Commander Katoki has arrived at his office and said to us whilst approaching us.

"Hey everyone, sorry to keep you waiting. The 2 newly transferred Authonoids have arrived.,"

"Come on in.,"

After a few seconds, I saw 2 newly transferred Authonoids entering Katoki's office with confidence in their faces, as if these guys were born ready to face tons of challenge. Also, Kyoko accompanied these new Authonoids, Commander Marisa's younger sister.

I saw a tall male Authonoid with a tan skin, almost middle-part styled black hair slightly to the right, dark brown eyes, and a muscular, slim body. He wore a black cropped leather jacket with a grey shirt in it, black half finger gloves with hard knuckles, a dark brown belt with holsters, black camo leather trouser with 2 pockets on each side, and dark grey boots.

And besides him, there's a female Authonoid in her early twenties, wearing a military uniform. However, her pretty big bust covered with a tight military uniform might slightly torture her agility on the battlefield. It was tight for such a graceful girl to wear on a battlefield. Her hair had a pink colour, just a few shades lighter than her hair just above her shoulders.

However, it's slightly surprised me looking at these new Authonoids. Considering I've recognized both of them way before, I've converted into an Authonoid. Afterwards, Commander Katoki introduced us to these new Authonoids.

"Meet Nolan, and Lisabelle. They will join force with Kyoko, under the command of Commander Marisa. And they will be banded together under the name of Purple Mastodon squadron,"

"Apparently both of them have a perfect simulation battle result, where they're able to collaborate during the massive pressure situation.,"

"And by the way, give them rank or a family name as well," Said Commander Katoki smilingly.

Furthermore, Nolan introduced himself in confidence.

"My name is Nolan, frame name is Razorclaw, my role is Tanker, I'm a new-type Authonoid, and my element is flame. The reason I transferred into Minerva is that the Walrusian Marine Corps put too much pressure on me to make no single mistakes, or else I'm dead meat. And nice to meet you, by the way.,"

After Nolan introduced himself, Lisabelle introduced herself.

"My name is Lisabelle, frame name is Phantombolt, my role is Tanker, I'm the same new-type like him, and my element is bolt. I'm a former Vandaarian Mercenary. I love painting and making music. And nice to meet you guys.,"

Afterwards, she gives a cute wink and a smile to everyone. And then, Kyoko said to us.

"I hope all of you come along together really well. Because in the end, Minerva has to fight against the Scorching Virus on any occasion.,"

"Of course, ma'am Kyoko," Scott replied jocularly.

"Hehe, no need to call me Ma'am, by the way," she said to him, giggling in a slight.

Suddenly, Commander Katoki approached us and said.

"Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to accompany all of you any further. Because Commander Marisa called me for a personal meeting.,"

"And might as well you guys have a chit chat to recognize each other much better,"

"See you around, Commander.,"

Afterwards, Commander Katoki leaving his office and leaving us with the 2 newly transferred Authonoids.

It moved my heart after seeing both of my old friends coming back together with me. I approached both Nolan and Lisabelle slowly and said to them as I almost broke a tear.

"Nolan, Lisabelle? How much years has it been?"

"Good to see you back, Tsuyuki. It's been years at best," He replied as he smiled, gently.

Furthermore, I approached Nolan, did a gentleman handshake, and hugged his body tightly.

"For sure, hahahaha!"

It's felt relieving after reunited back with my old middle school friends after being separated for around 6 years.

"Holy crap, Nolan… it's been years. Where have you been for this long time?" Scott asked as he approached Nolan and shook his hand.

"Kicking out terrorists assess for 6 years. Hahahaha," Nolan replied as he laughed.

Furthermore, all of my friends were handshaking with Nolan and Lisabelle as greetings. When I'm having a little chat with Nolan, Lisabelle approached me and said with a sweet smile.

"Long time no see, Tsuyuki.,"

It startled me in a slight to see her acting like a sweetheart, despite the mistakes I've ever done to her in the past. I thought that she's still holding a grudge from my past mistakes. But she's always acting like nothing bad has happened in recent times.

However, it gave me an idea to talk about my past mistakes to her personally.

"By the way, Lisabelle. Can we talk for a bit?" I asked to her whilst patted her right shoulder.

"What's wrong with that?" She asked curiously whilst raising her eyebrow.

Before I wanted to have a personal talk with her, I ask to everyone for a permission first.

"Uh guys, there's something personal I wanted to talk with Lisabelle.,"

"Go ahead," Axel replied as he nodded.

Furthermore, I nodded and entering together into the personal room to talk about Elliott. Lisabelle's deceased younger brother, and my old squad mate who's died in the battle during the Vortikan crisis 4 years ago.

Inside this personal room, Lisabelle glanced at me in confusion whilst asked.

"Is there anything you want to talk?"

My heart is beating pretty fast, and I felt a sore on my stomach from how much a guilt I've carried on from my mistakes. And then I took a deep breath and answered.

"It's all about Elliott. Your deceased brother.,"

"What's wrong with that?" She asked whilst raising her left eyebrow in confusion.

Afterwards, I confessing about Elliott's death.

"Look, even though it's been 4 years ago and you're still forgiving me, I still feel guilty that I let your brother died in the battle. Only if I am strong enough to restrain him from acting on his own.,"

"Even though your brother is pretty hot headed, stubborn, and short-tempered. I just can't accept that your beloved brother died in front of me. And I'm afraid that you and your family will put the blame on me, as if I'm the one who makes your brother died in the battle,"

"Hell, I'll never forget from how much you loved your brother, where you smooched his cheeks countless time, until he shouted to stop,"

"I mean, it's not just Elliott. Even Minami, my childhood friend, died in front of me. Where she's died protecting me from getting shot by the Gorusian sniper at the same time during the Vortikan crisis.,"

"And the most recent is the death of Luke and Clarissa. Where they're died killed by Onigashi,"

I looked the other way as I'm about to drop tears of guilt. And then I glanced at Lisabelle again and continued.

"And it's really sad that I'm the one who's carrying all burdens, spilling lots of blood, and almost died. Yet, my teammates, who's carrying fewer burdens and spilling fewer bloods than myself, died in front of me,"

"Because of that, I always asked to myself. Am I the grim reaper who's brought death upon everyone? Even though the one I brought death is my closest one,"

I looked down for a second with a downed expression. I felt the sore from my heart and my stomach was relapsed after I've confessed my experience to her. However, she's approached me, patted my shoulders gently, and comforted me.

"I know what you're thinking. But sometimes, you must let everything go and moving on. So many people failing not because they aren't strong nor intelligent enough, it's because they have a terrible faith when facing the challenges,"

"Because it doesn't matter how much power and intelligence you've had, everything will be useless without gratitude. Just like what you've always mentioned.,"

"And as shameful as I could admit, even though it devastated me to see my brother died, I'm also pretty grateful at the same time. Because I'm so tired of seeing my brother sad and depressed all the time from the things he's facing on. Death isn't the end of everything. Because death is what motivates us to keep achieving our goals, which makes us appreciate even more about our life.,"

"The closer we are to death, the livelier we are.,"

"So don't worry too much about Elliott or your friend's death. It's not entirely your fault. Because fate will always be fate no matter what.,"

"Even I still can't forget about the death of my closest friends from the plane crashes. Despite that, I still keep moving on and do my best to make their efforts won't come in vain,"

Strangely enough, she's recovered my mood pretty quick after she's comforted me with her same tragic experience.

"Yeah… thank you, Lisabelle," I said to her while I'm wiping my tears from my eyes.

"Don't mention it, Tsuyuki," she said to me while she's hugged my body gently, and caressing my back to comforting me.

After that, both of us getting out of the personal room and meet up with the rest of my friends for another nostalgia. Whether if it's a good one or a bad one.

However, my deeper sense telling me that one of my friends will die in the battle. Despite that, I don't know who was it, when it will happen, and how does it goes.

Besides, I still can't forget about what Onigashi's ever told to me about.

"If you wish to defeat me, grow stronger.,"

And it makes sense, considering Onigashi is a different beast that I have to face with a thorough preparation.

Who knows? Because anything goes by and all I can do is just keep moving on.
