Holy Era 6102, Month of the Moon Rabbit, 20th day.
Weather: Sunny
It was another sunny day! Having great weather really cheers the heart.
It is finally time to start mining!!
The place I had promised to meet Mack yesterday was now crowded with so many people. There had to be at least forty of them?
According to Mack, this group was today’s mining party.
What? I thought parties were around six people at the most!? But this is closer to a platoon from the chivalric order!?
But when I said this, he burst into laughter… I was a little embarrassed.
The reason for this group was simple. This wasn’t some story we were in, and so there was no point in separating into small groups.
Not only that, but there were a lot of beginners here, and so part of the reason was to support them. Yes, you would feel safer if there were a lot of people when something happened. It was important to help each other.
As for when they did form smaller parties, Mack told me that it was when they went into a dungeon where it would be difficult to keep track of everyone, which would make things more dangerous.
When telling me this, he added that I should hurry up and become a first-rate Adventurer too. And he patted me roughly on the head. …I wish he wouldn’t treat me like a kid.
When entering the mines, the first thing to do is head to the designated mining point. You could not just dig anywhere you wanted.
The mining area was a great cavern that a hundred people could comfortably fit in with plenty of room left.
While I would be allowed to move freely at this point, there were several things I had to be careful of.
– Do not go into the lower levels.
– Be kind and polite to the kobolds. Do not make them angry.
– If you hear a high-pitched ringing sound, return to this area at once.
Kobolds were bipedal dog-like creatures. A long time ago, they were considered to be monsters. But now they were friendly neighbors to humans.
Humans were especially grateful to them, because they would warn of collapses and disasters from explosions in advance. While it was said that they also like to play tricks sometimes, that was part of their charm, I suppose.
As I fought alone against the hard rock walls, something poked me several times around the waist. And when I turned around in surprise, I saw that a kobold was looking up at me. While it was a little surprising, I bowed once and then returned to my work.
And then it came again. Poke. Poke. …What was it? I turned around and saw the same kobold…
Now that I thought about it, I had some cheese in my pouch. With a sigh, I handed it over to the kobold, who tossed it into its mouth with satisfaction.
When the kobold was finished eating, it gestured to me before walking away… I knew that I should follow, because this had the smell of adventure!!
The kobold stopped in a place that was a little deeper in from the large cavern, and then it pointed at a certain spot on the rock wall.
Did it want me to dig there?
And so I tried swinging my pickaxe, and it felt completely different than the other spot!! The rocks fell away, and out came some ore that shone with a silvery color?!
As I stood there in shock, the kobold grinned and then walked away.
This is silver! Silver! Silver!! The more I dug, the more ore came out, and I became very excited. So much so, that I continued to dig until Mack had to come looking for me.
