When the door opened by just a foot wide, Daniel was surprised to see the man with the baby that he saw in the hospital in Country A. His memory had always been good and so he recognized Philip right away.
"What do you want?" Philip asked through the gap, his voice was firm like always. His serious-looking face made him seem like a scary man. And the way he stood in front of Daniel, the latter knew that Philip was holding his gun readily.
Detecting the behavior from the man, the air around Daniel suddenly became dark, making Philip immediately heighten all his senses all the more.
"What's going on? Who is that?" asked Samantha, she stood a few feet away from the door and both she and Hannah became cautious.
Hearing his woman, Daniel's eyes darted to the direction of her voice although he could not see her. And through his low voice, he announced, "It's your husband."
…
Inside Gael's suite, a floor above where Samantha was staying.
Gael was currently unbuttoning his shirt when one of his men came to see him. "What is it?" He asked.
His subordinate moved closer and whispered, "Master, a man entered Ms. Kim's room just now."
Gael's head snapped and he briskly walked towards the door in long strides. He wanted to rush to Samantha whilst he listened to the report but he stopped in his tracks after hearing the name.
"What did you say? Who did you say it was?" He probed.
"It's Mr. Cho, sir. Her ex-husband." The man replied.
With his hands on his waist, he let out a chuckle. He felt stupid that he was so worked up when he thought that Samantha was in trouble. But how could she be in trouble when it was someone who would never even think of hurting her?
Feeling dejected, Gael turned around with a grin on his face and headed straight to the desk to serve himself some whiskey.
"Master? Should we do something?" The man asked as he was not sure what they should do at that point. They used to understand their master's wishes right away even when he did not speak but because of how he was around Samantha, for some reason, they could not read his mind like they used to.
Using the hand that was holding the glass of whiskey, he waved it slightly in the air, "Stay on your posts as usual and leave the room. All of you."
Without any further questions, his subordinate looked at the other men in the room and nodded before all of them left his room, giving him space.
...
In the living room of Samantha's suite, Daniel sat with Samantha while Philip stood guard by the door.
Hannah was too overwhelmed by Daniel's presence that she did not know what to do in while being in the same room with him. She had forgotten how scary he was at times when he was being the Almighty Daniel Cho.
"I… I'll leave you guys to talk in private," Hannah did not even wait for them to answer and immediately went back to her room where Ashton was currently sleeping.
Entering the room, Hannah swiftly went beside the sleeping baby and whispered naughtily, "Your devil of a father is just on the other side of this wall. I wonder what would happen if you wake up and cry so that you could meet him by chance tonight?"
Naughty Aunt Hannah's index finger hovered over baby Ashton's chubby cheeks, ready to poke it to wake him up but she stopped midway and dropped herself to the bed. "Tch. Your mother will kill me if I would do that."
.
Looking at the man who was sitting beside her, Samantha felt like she was dreaming. She could not believe that after so long, the love of her life was finally sitting down with her on the sofa. She stared at the side of his face while he was watching Philip. Daniel had a lot of questions and did not know which one to ask first.
Turning to Samantha, he caught her gazing seriously at him. "What?"
She shook her head and sat up straight. Her mind was battling with her heart when she thought of how she was going to talk to her man. "Do you want to drink something? I'll make you some coffee." She attempted to stand but Daniel stopped her right away.
Daniel snickered at the sight of her being uneasy, "Samantha, it's been a long time since we have last seen each other and the first thing you want to do is make coffee?"
Truth be told, Samantha wanted to jump on him as soon as she saw that he came to see her but, she had to restrain herself as she was feeling a bit sour when she remembered the woman she saw earlier with him. She knew it was so silly to feel that way but she still couldn't help herself.
"Who was that with you tonight?" She asked with a brave face despite her voice trembling a little.
The corner of Daniel's lips curled up a little when he realized what was on her mind. "Are you being jealous, Mrs. Cho?"
Daniel saw the change on her face when he addressed her like he used to. Although they divorced, he believed that there was no other Missus for him but Samantha.
"I'm no longer your Mrs. Cho. You divorced me, Daniel. Don't you remember?" She slumped back on the sofa and looked away, the pain in her face was evident.
Daniel felt like butterflies lingered over his chest. Reaching out to touch her hand while the other cupped her face and made her look at him, he assured her, "She's nothing. You're the only woman that I see in my eyes. It doesn't matter if the divorce happened, you're the only Missus who's worthy to share my last name with me."
Without much thought, she threw her arms around his neck and breathed in. "It's so good to see you, again."
Returning her embrace, Daniel stroked her back and kissed her temple. "Can't you shoo away your bodyguard for the night?" He whispered. He had wanted to touch her without holding back but the other man in the room was just bothering him.
Pulling back, Samantha told Philip to rest. Although he was reluctant to leave her with Daniel, he had already dug his own grave when he agreed to keep their getaway a secret. What's another one to add to his growing list of things to regret about because of Samantha?
Closing the door, Samantha made sure to put up the lock on the door before she turned back to the sofa.
Daniel friggin' Cho did not waste time and instantly kissed Samantha on the lips, catching her off guard but she did not protest and allowed him to hold her.
She whimpered as his kisses became aggressive, expressing his hunger for being apart for so long.
In the middle of their long kiss greeting, a baby's cry broke out from the room, making Samantha freeze under Daniel. How the heck was she supposed to explain that he has a son in that room? Samantha's heart drummed in her chest wildly that she wanted to vomit because of being anxious.
Daniel pulled back a little and stared into her already panicked expression. "Aren't you in a suite room? Why are the walls so thin? You should have chosen a room without neighbors."
However, Hannah's faint cry could be heard from where they were. "Oh my gosh, Ash... hush! Stop crying."
Daniel's brows furrowed as he simultaneously turned his head towards the closed door where Hannah disappeared a while ago. "Is there a baby in that room?"
