"You are reading these kinds of book again?" Hillary asked after catching a glimpse of the book that Serina was holding. It was all about wolves, dragons and vampires and curses and magic; nonsensical things that only insane people will ever believe.
Hillary discouraged Serina several times but Serina used the excuse that she found it fun to read so, left with no choice, Hillary just let her be. As for Brigette, she wasn't really against it because she knew that people have different preferences when it comes to books or when it comes to things that they like.
It's been a month that they have seen Serina spending time reading about these stuffs that she likes. Whenever she got some time to spare, she'd go to library and read these nonsense things. There was even a time that they asked her to come with them to watch the preliminary round for the Winter Cup Basketball Game which was held in their school gym. To their horror, Serina was sitting between them with a book in her hand. She only glanced at the game once and until the time it ended, she never looked at it again.
"I'm starting to get bored with you." Hillary stated and observed Serina's reaction but the latter had her eyes focused on the book. "I'm bored."
"Go find something interesting." Serina responded when she heard her words.
"I'm bored with you."
"Well, sorry. My mother didn't give birth to me to become your entertainer."
"Hey!" Hillary exclaimed and flicked Serina's forehead. "You are so mean!"
"I'm not." Serina retorted. She turned to her other friend and acted pitiful. "Am I mean, Brigette? Are you bored with me?"
"Nope. I am a very flexible person. I can adapt to whatever you two likes but please don't make me choose between you two." Brigette responded without looking at her two friends who were making a scene in front of her.
"Fine." Serina closed the book and placed it inside her bag. "What is it that you want to do? I'll accompany you." She asked Hillary whose smile reached to her ears. Really. She's easy to please.
Hillary linked her arms with Serina and pulled her friend up. "Let's go and watch the soccer game. Luke will be playing today. I want to cheer him on."
"Alright. I don't mind."
Brigette saw them getting along now and had no other choice but to come along.
When they arrived at the soccer field many other students have arrived. You can say that Luke was kind of a heartthrob and many female students like him except for Serina, perhaps.
Serina sat in between her friends once again and this time, she tried herself to focus on the game. "Is it so important for them to win?"
"Of course. My dear Luke should win this game. I'd feel bad if he loses this game." Hillary commented with her eyes focused on the man who was currently sitting on the bench, listening to their coach. "Oh god! He's my dream man."
"Yeah, right." Serina answered without any enthusiasm. She listened to the whispers and giggles of the other students. The women were talking about how handsome Luke was, how talented he was, how sweet his smile was and how amazing and whatnot he was. Serina smirked and rolled her eyes in silence. She would admit that the man was good-looking but there was no such thing as butterflies in her stomach.
She even met him several times on the ground and aside from a simple greeting of hi/hello, they never had any serious conversation. And note, they're classmates.
"You can stare at him during our class. You can look at him play during lunch. You can stare at his pictures when you get home. Haven't you had enough of him?" Brigette questioned. Serina and Brigette knew how much Hillary likes this man and no matter how much you discourage her, she won't change her mind.
Serina raised her head and saw the dark clouds forming over them. She knew that it was going to rain but seeing how hopeful and worried her best friend was, Serina decided to be selfish this time. She conjured an image of bright sky with white clouds to shade the audience from the harsh sunlight and few minutes later, the sky really brightened.
Serina closed her eyes and in that fleeing moment, she thought she was in an ocean, staring at the bluest eyes she'd ever seen. She instantly opened her eyes and looked around. That moment didn't last longer than five seconds but she felt like her soul was sucked out of her body. It's a feeling that she's having a hard time to explain.
Far from the city, Nicholas woke up from his afternoon nap. He looked around him and found himself in the library with his sister looking at him.
"What's the matter?" Yiran asked with a frown. "I sense a faint intrusion but I couldn't grasp it."
"It's just your imagination. You must be tired." Nicholas told his younger sister as he gently pats her head. However, deep inside his heart, he knew that his sister wasn't mistaken. He saw it, too. He saw a huge dragon staring right into his eyes. 'That's weird. Maybe I'm reading too many books about dragons and their curses.' Nicholas told himself as he walked towards the bookshelves. He returned the book that he was reading and went back to his sister.
"Niknik?" Yiran called for his attention.
"What is it?"
"Is your mate a she-wolf or a human?"
"I don't know. It's possible that she's a she-wolf but mother said she could be a human. At the same time, we can't erase the possibility that she can be a dragon, too."
"A dragon? Are you serious? How can that be possible? If your mate gives birth to a pup, will it be a dragon or a wolf? That's going to be weird."
"That's not true." Nicholas told his sister. He stared into space while recalling what he learned from a young age. "There's a legend that says the child of a dragon and a wolf will become one of the strongest alphas in the whole world. Of course, that is just a legend. We can't even find the Dragon tribe to lift mom's curse."
"Hmp! I hate dragons. I hope you won't mate with a dragon. It doesn't matter if we can't become a powerful pack.. I just don't think I can get along with those hateful creatures."
