Chapter 92: PRETENDING NICHOLAS

When they met again, Nicholas pretended things were normal. He invited her to have dinner with him. They talked about her class, about his business and about the wolves that they both love.

Sometimes, they went to shop around Paris, buying things here and there, for their family and friends. Serina even both new clothes for Corrine and Lambert.

Even though Lambert was older than her by few months, she treated him like her little brother sometimes. Whenever she's bored, she'd bring him around the town to look for outfits that he could wear. She took lots of photos for him, urged him to upload it on his social media account which caused a huge uproar back in their home country.

Lambert was known as the geek, the nerd and whatnot. His name was never associated with the word handsome or good-looking. Wherever he goes, you would see him holding a bunch of books. He was very studious but it was still not enough to surpass Serina. Even so, he was never envious of her intelligence. He thought that she was just natural-born genius.

Now, when people check his account, or received notifications that he posted something, they were shocked and surprised at his new transformation. He was far from what he looked like back then. His thick eyeglass was gone. His hair wasn't lengthy and covering his eyes anymore. It was cut cleanly to show his face and his thick eyebrows which accentuated his white face.

He became a live mannequin that Serina likes to dress up. Her father even questioned her at some point if she was planning the family to adopt another person which almost choked Lambert to death.

"No, he's got a family of his own and he loves them so much." This was what Serina said over the phone when her father called. Sometimes, Nicholas would feel more jealous towards Lambert compared to Damon.

Towards Damon, Serina only sees him as a partner in dealing with the rogue vampires and nothing else. She didn't pay that much attention to him. Contrary to Damon, Serina pays so much attention with Lambert. She was basically making him a male version of a doll.

"I have so many clothes because of you now. Where else should I put these things?" Lambert questioned while carrying three shopping bags that Serina got for him.

"You can send your old clothes back to your home." Serina answered, pulling him to another store that she planned to visit.

"That's not what I mean." Lambert retorted and looked towards Nicholas for help but the other man ignored him. "Also, how am I supposed to pay you for all of these. Take note, I have no work now."

"I know. I didn't even ask you to pay. Also, we're doing this so that you can find a job."

"Are you asking me to apply for a job?"

"No. The job will come and find you." Serina blurted. She looked inside the store and her eyes lit up when she found something. Following her eyes, Lambert frowned and covered his face. He didn't know what else to do to stop her. "Rina -"

"Fine. I'm not going to buy anything for you." Her eyes shifted towards Nicholas and she smiled at him. "I've always wanted to give you a gift but I don't know what you like. Do you have pictures of yourself when you go to work?"

Just like Lambert, Nicholas had no idea what she was up to. "I have few pictures of me. They're taken by Yiran." He stated while taking out his phone. He opened it and looked for his gallery.

"Your sister has great talent for photography."

"She'd be happy to hear that."

"You should tell her about that next time." She scrolled down on his phone, checking pictures after pictures while trying her best to calm her heart. 'Damn this guy. He's hot.' Serina thought to herself while looking at the photos. She had her attention on his pictures while Nicholas watched her from the top of her head.

'I'll get something for her, too.' Nicholas reminded himself while observing her.

"I know what to get for you." She looked around and found the display of neckties. There were cufflinks and brooch, too. She thought he'd look great in them. "Come here." She held his hand and taking this opportunity, Nicholas linked their fingers together. She noticed what he did. She looked at their intertwined hands before shifting her gaze to his face. "Your hand is really warm."

"I like holding your hand like this."

"Let's do this often." Serina suggested without showing any hint of embarrassment. Since there's a chance that they'd become enemies in the future, she'd take every opportunity to have sweet memories with him.

The two of them walked towards the display case and Lambert found a couch to sit. He took out his phone and captured them with his camera.

'I wish nothing but happiness for the both of you.' This was the caption her wrote for the picture he took. On the picture, Nicholas was looking lovingly towards Serina while she pointed on something. His attention was fully focused on her, telling everyone that he loves the woman beside him.

When Lambert posted this picture in his account, he received many reactions in just few minutes. What was even surprising to him was the number of shares.

Lambert didn't know that everything started with one single share from Hillary. She was friends with Nicholas in private and they also followed each other's account because of Serina. When she shared the picture, she had no idea that someone from Nicholas' company has followed her account. In the end, when that employee found out the picture, he checked the original post from Lambert. He shared it, too. And just like that, people started to notice Lambert and his posts.

It was just what Serina said, work will come to find him instead.

Meanwhile, the coming of age ceremony for the third vampire princess of the royal family has finally come. Damon has prepared himself for this and he made sure to bring the only piece of clue that could led him to the culprit of the recent attacks.

Her sister refused to attend the party, saying that she wanted to take care of her husband's grave. In any case, it won't be a problem if she wouldn't come. It's already known among vampire clans that Veronica du Lac, the only daughter of the du Lac family, has become a shut-in after her lover died. She hated to go out, hated the vampires and hated everyone that took the life of the man she loved.

They knew it happened a long time ago but for a vampire, everything felt like it happened yesterday, especially when you chose to dwell on it.

Damon didn't insist on bringing his sister. He didn't want to place her in an uncomfortable situation, knowing that she'd be the food for gossips among other vampires.

"If you need something, send someone to come and find me." Damon reminded his sister before leaving.

"Take care."

Damon left their mansion and went to look for his brother. Their father left earlier than them, wanting to show loyalty to the royal family.

He found his brother at the garden, holding a stalk of white rose while waiting for him.

"Is she going to be fine?" His brother asked in worry.

"Veronica is a strong woman. She will be okay."

The two of them transformed to a bat and flew into the dark sky, moving to the direction of the royal family who lives in New Zealand.

"During the party, you have to do your best and mingle with others. Build connections and friendship." Damon reminded.

"I will do that. I actually researched some of them so that I would know what they like and dislike."

"That's good to know."

Between him and his older brother, the eldest of the family, Damon was a lot stronger than him. He was very intelligent and capable as well. However, his brother wasn't as good as him and this made their father grow unfavorable to the eldest. Usually, it's the eldest who gets the attention but it was different in their family.

Damon, the middle child, receives all the affection from their father even though Damon was stubborn and wilful. Their father was very patient on him.

He already gave up on Veronica after she fell in love with a human and he dislike his eldest child as well.

Only Damon was good enough for him.

Not long after, they finally arrived in New Zealand. The royal vampire has a very huge estate and a huge mansion. There was a barrier that prevents human from entering the place as well.

The moment they landed in front of the gate, Damon and his brother turned to their human form once again. They caught a lot of attention from the ladies especially Damon. His name was well-known among the vampire women. He's a bachelor that many women wants to have. Sadly, he didn't show interest in any of them except for a one-night tryst. He has no regard for mates.

Surprisingly, when he looked at the women, the first person that came to mind was Corrine. He was even shock when he realized it.

Back in Paris, while working at home, Corrine crunched up her face and pouted. 'What the heck was that? If he wants to meet with ladies he can do it however he likes.. He didn't need to share his mind with me. What an idiot!'
