The next morning showed up before Seulgi was really ready for it.
She felt hung over. She knew that she only had that single beer last night. After all, it was never good to get completely blotto in front of juniors, even if it was the weekend.
Weekend! She snuggled back under the covers refusing to greet the morning with the contempt it deserved.
Her head was throbbing and fuzzy. Her throat was on fire. Her chest was heavy and it was hard to breathe. And her foot hurt.
All of the possible things that might be wrong were floating through her sleep addled mind. She was trying to gauge just how sick she got last night while sleeping. She felt OK last night. The pizza was good. She took a long, hot shower after Min-Jeong left. She lay down in bed to read a book before sleeping. She was sober. She was under the covers all night.
All of her permutations were interrupted by the simplest answer: with a single meow.
A cat on the chest would explain many things. She looked down and saw a pair of crystal blue eyes slow blinking back at her. She let her head fall back into the fluffy pile of pillows.
“I am going to skin you for real one of these days, cat.”
Having done her due diligence as an alarm cat, Suki had made sure her human was up and could get ready for work. She was a cat, so Saturday had no meaning for her. She got down off her human and jumped off the bed with cat like grace. She meandered out of the room into the living room. Out of sight, she jumped up on the couch and missed. An indignant squawk was heard.
Hearing the noise from the living room, Seulgi asked “You ok, Butterpaws?”
With no further sound, Seulgi assumed everything was OK and went back to sleep. Fortunately, her alarm cat had a snooze and left her alone to sleep some more. Alarm cats are great during the week, but there is no Off Button for the weekend.
She slept the sleep of Morpheus. Without the cause of her afflictions sleeping on her chest, the rest of the morning passed with hardly any discomfort.
Time passed as time always does. The next time she woke up, it was for biological reasons. She was reminded very quickly why she needed to be careful when walking on the way to the bathroom.
When she got back from the bathroom, she noticed that it was 10 am. This would be a good time to actually wake up and start her morning. She ran her long, slender, and graceful fingers through her hair as a quasi-brush. Fortunately, even her worst bed-head was not too bad. Once she was in the kitchen, she started to mentally list off the things that she could make for breakfast.

Cereal was out as the milk had gone bad.
Pancakes were out for the same reason. The pancake mix could be made with water, but it was just not the same. She could make them from scratch, Mama Kang made sure her girl could cook and cook well, after all. But that was work and this was the weekend.
Toast and strawberry jam jam is an option.
She could not remember what leftovers she had in the fridge, but she could look. She rummaged around, but nothing screamed “EAT ME” at her.
Wait...there was some leftover pizza. She lost count of how many times she had left over, cold pizza for breakfast while in college.
She was an adult now. While Seulgi did decide on the pizza, she could warm it up first. After all, she was no longer the barbarian that she was in her college years.
Since she had no plans for the day and she was not famished, she decided to warm up the pizza in her oven as opposed to the microwave. Microwaved pizza just never warmed right in the same way it did in the oven.
It would be fifteen minutes for the pizza to warm. So, she started tidying up what little was left over from last night. Min-Jeong was surprisingly fastidious when it came to cleaning. A very few odds and sod were out of place, easily remedied with practiced ease. After all, some malevolent furball gave her a lot of practice cleaning her place.
She went into the bathroom to do some morning maintenance. She had done her morning biological necessities along with brushing her teeth earlier, so all she had to really do was brush her hair.
She had tried a new shampoo and conditioner combination. It not only smelled good, but it worked amazingly well. Seulgi had some very bad hair because she had dyed all sorts of colors a while back. So, she’s been spending a lot of time, and a considerable amount of money, getting her hair back to being healthy.
Looking at the frozen black waterfall that was cascading over her shoulder, she was very satisfied with the progress.
The timer dinged and breakfast was ready. The pizza was smelling as good now as it did last night. She gave herself a satisfied nod and went to the kitchen as her stomach, which was entirely too familiar with her backbone, growled in agreement at the idea of breakfast.
