With all of the various things that had happened, the collective work day ended more with a whimper than a bang. This was both good and to be expected. Even though it was Monday, this was not the most exciting business to ever have been created. There is not too much drama, nor are there any explosions (unless something drastically goes wrong on the factory floor), most of the harsh words are reserved for the computers.

Since she got most of her work done earlier, though there is always something that creeps into her In Box when she is not looking, she thought she would take a Me Night. She’d get home, change clothes into some workout ready sweats, go to the gym, do as hard of a workout as her nearly recovered ankle would let her, get some dinner – a salad tonight would be perfect – and then shower and veg out with a book or TV. As plans go, this seems good as she has successfully managed it many, many nights before. Minus the problem ankle.

The weather was beautiful. Crisp and cool air, slightly fading daylight, a slight breeze, and a few wispy clouds in the sky. The thought of scrapping the plan and just going for a light jog in the park also seemed like an equally good idea.

The nice thing about being both an adult and single is the ability to change plans on a whim and not inconvenience anyone else. Nor report to anyone, either. Some people had an enviable marriage that was both loving and fulfilling, but she had not found that fit that niche for her yet.

Scrapping plans and rewriting them on the fly is something of a mental gymnastic hobby for her. This is why she usually has two or three plans in her head at a given time.

So, plan B became plan A as they reversed the order of importance.

Seulgi tripped lightly down the stairs to the ground floor. Fortunately for her, it was a metaphor rather than literally. She was graceful as a ballerina when not thinking about it, but became thick as a brick at the oddest times. Like on stairs.

Safely on the ground floor, she exited the stairwell. The guards at the front desk were relieved to see she made it in one piece. She smiled and waved good night at them and left for home.

She walked down the street soaking in all of the sights and sounds. She breathed in the scents of the city. Side street food vendors and blossoming trees. The scent of both nice and nasty perfume, cigarettes, and sweat were all parts of the human condition. This is part and parcel of why she loved where she lived. This is where she knew she needed to be.

Seulgi made it home with minimal issues. Her doing a slight trip over some uneven pavement and fending off one over-amorous (and slightly drunk) person was par for the course.  Nothing too wrong happened to her today. However, the night was young.

She waves a greeting to the guards at the desk upon entering the building.

“Alright, Seulgi?”

“It’s a near perfect evening, thank you.” Even Seulgi knew not to raise death flags by saying that everything was perfect. She had learned the hard way.

“Is there anyone we need to be aware of that is going to visit tonight?”

“There is no one planned, so should be a quiet night for me.” The guard winced. Maybe she has not fully embraced the Don’t Jinx Yourself Paradox.

“Very good, ma’am. Have a good night.”

Since she was going to be going for a jog soon, she decided to skip the walk up the stairs and took the elevator up instead. She does still need to be gentle with her ankle. It has not hurt at all today, but why tempt fate and reinjure it? While on the way to the elevator, she met with the very nice older couple on the 8th floor. Evidently, their grandson had graduated from medical school recently. It was a shame that he already had a girlfriend because they would be so cute together. Seulgi was grateful when the doors opened and she could escape because she knew they had another grandson.

She opened her apartment door, dropped her keys and phone in the bowl on the sideboard, and immediately was being interrogated. The sweetest voice she knew started nagging her. It was loud, long, and profane. That was when she noticed that Suki’s food bowl was empty.

She quickly remedied that and the scolding she was receiving became immediately more loving and loveable. Suki started telling Seulgi all about her day. The bird that was on the balcony (that she could have totally taken out with no problem had the door been open), how the sunshine she bathed in was particularly good today, that Seulgi should be grateful that she did not wreck divine retribution for forgetting her kibbles, and everything that had passed through her fuzzy little head during the day.

Suki jumped up on the countertop so she could make eye contact with her person. She was living up to the stereotype of being a very chatty breed of cat.

Seulgi patiently answered all of the questions asked of her. She Uhmm-ed and Ah-ha’ed in all the places that seemed appropriate. It was apparently a very dramatic day as always for the furry little drama queen.

Seulgi checked her fridge for ingredients for when she gets back. She didn’t need much for a salad tonight. Lettuce, tomatoes, some green onions, and a little bit of radish. All of the makings for a basic salad. There were a few other things to throw in as well, so this would be a fairly tasty and more importantly, healthy, dinner.

Closing the fridge and going back to her cat, she delivered some chin scratches. Suki was satisfied that the proper attention had been paid to her as her due for the night. She jumped down and went about her nightly duties. Her nightly duties revolved around looking out the window, walking around the apartment, and napping. Her nightly duties suspiciously resembled her daily duties. But she would not point out this to anyone.

Seulgi, on the other hand, went to the bedroom, got into her sweats, pulled her hair up into a tail, grabbed her headphones, and headed to the front door. She grabbed her keys and her willpower to go jogging.

After a few moments, the door opened, she got her phone which had her music on it, and then she left again.
