He was a good kid, he did well in school, he respected his elders, he had good friends that he loved and knew loved him back, and he looked in the mirror and hated himself. He looked in the mirror and hated the boy staring back. He was so fake, so manufactured, 'he' was so.. wrong. Everything they did to try and be the 'perfect gentleman' they were supposed to be grated on them day after day. She looked in the mirror and saw a character she used to play. And she was done playing pretend. Or, at the very least, she wanted to be. She wanted to be able to leave him behind and be her, whoever she was, but... she was terrified, terrified that it was too late already: that the 'HRT' stuff that she went on a studying binge about last month - obviously just to understand what her friend was going through, nothing to do with her - and only realized that she was possibly interested in for herself as well today - wouldn't be able to do anything now that her body was completely wrecked from testosterone; worried that her parents would be upset, especially since she'd never shown any signs as a kid, worried about how her two best friends would react. She was 18 now, as of today, and that meant her childhood was over, that she'd never gotten to be a girl, and would only ever be a "young woman". She sighed as she thought about all of this and laid back on her bed. If she were ever to cry, she knew that her eyes would be watery right now, but she'd never really been in touch with her emotions enough to do so. But she knew that her parents would be expecting her to have fun day on such an 'important' day, so she got up, got dressed in her favorite pair of cargo shorts and a legend of zelda t-shirt that her parents got for her, wiped her eyes (they were already clear, but it just felt like the right thing to be doing in that state), put on a straight face, and turned to face the day with a smile that she knew her parents would never see her pain behind.
