Chloe and I made eye contact as Covic walked over to me. “You gotta talk to her, man. It’s unfair,” Covic lectured, walking off towards the door and smiled at Chloe before exiting the gym.

I released an exasperated sigh before making my way toward her. She put her hand up as I got close enough to say something. I kept my mouth shut as she went over what she would say on repeat in her head. This was okay, as I looked over her well-fitting attire several times. I had accepted I was beyond attracted to this woman, which was the problem. She could easily do what she wanted if she were more straightforward. Handing someone that power made me feel uneasy.

“It’s been over eight months, and we’ve barely talked. I did something wrong. I am at fault, no matter what it is. Just please talk to me again,” she pleaded as her golden eyes teared.

“I’m sorry,” I said, going to grab her hand, but she lunged at me, hugging tightly. “Am sweaty,” I murmured, putting my arm around her; she was so small it only took one.

“I don’t care. Tell me what I did wrong, and I’ll fix it,” she said, holding on tight. “I don't know if I can handle losing you.”

“Chloe, I’ve just got things going on now that makes having a social life hard. I’d hoped you would make friends after getting your citizenship.”

Chloe stepped away, looking up at me, absolutely devastated. “You didn’t answer the question. What do I need to do to fix this? Something’s wrong, don't lie to me.”

I took a knee, so we made eye contact better. “I’ve already pushed one friend away by holding on too tight.”

“Cyrus!” Chloe’s face got flustered, “I want you to be my boyfriend, and that means I am preparing for things not to be ideal considering who you are”—Chloe quickly turned around, facing the door—“I love you, Cyrus, and I can’t stop thinking about you.”

“Can you say that to my face?”

She slowly returned to meet my eyes, cupping my face with weak confidence. Chloe is a complete nervous mess. “I. Love. You.”

“I’m going to hurt you.”

“That’s okay.”

I shook my head. “No, it’s not,” I replied as Chloe pressed her lips against mine and our conversation drew more attention. After separating our lips, I just stared at her with probably a concerned expression.

“What?” she stared at me, worried.

After a pause, I sighed in defeat. I wanted this, but I knew it would end badly. “Yes.”

“Yes, what, Cyrus?”

“You’re mine, Chloe,” I answered, giving her a peck on the cheek. “Let’s maybe take this somewhere private,” I suggested as she glanced around at people gawking, getting embarrassed. The academy had gossiped about me more since Rachel had become friendly with me in public—the native boy talking to The Divinity, how scandalous. I was sure this would bring more whispering.

Chloe's face gave such a look of happiness I couldn’t help but smile before she spoke. “We’re together?”

“Yes”—I stood up, looking down at her—“Let’s leave.”

We strolled towards my apartment without saying a word. Awkwardness filled the hall, and Chloe subtly unbuttoned her shirt a little, revealing cleavage that clarified what she was planning. Naturally, this made me nervous, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want it.

I barely got through the door as she grabbed my crotch, directing me towards the wall. Chloe bit her lip, giving me an expression that made my heart race. “Bedroom,” she stated, running her hand up and down the front of my shorts.

We hear a loud cough. “So, I am going to the library,” Rachel announced as Chloe froze and she walked out the door, shutting it behind her.

“I’m going to hell. I just touched your cock in front of the holiest being alive,” Chloe said, staring forward in disbelief.

I laughed, “Well, it was over the shorts, and you’ll be okay. She likes you.”

This time, Chloe slid her hand down my shorts, grabbing me bare, stroking slowly, but it ended quickly as she removed her hand, embarrassed. “I’m being really desperate right now, but I really want you… sorry.” Chloe looked down in shame.

After scooping Chloe into a bridal carry, I brought her extremely light self to the room. She, of course, was absolutely beaming at me. As I came into the room, I noticed how clean it was; Rachel had planned this. I wonder if she set up the fact that Chloe was at the gym.

I set Chloe down, but she pulled me down with her as I held myself over her on the dark green bed covers.

“I should shower,” I said as she shook her head.

“I’m way too nervous to wait for that,” she replied, wrapping her legs around my waist, trying to pull me towards her. I let out a suppressed laugh. “Okay,” I mumbled. Compared to mine, Chloe's strength was amusing, but I humoured her by doing what she wanted.
