Chapter 242: Who Exactly Are You?
“Greetings, Lord Divine Messenger,” said Consort Li as she curtsied. Her attitude was neither servile nor overbearing.
Ling Chuxi swept at glance at the faintly smiling Huangfu Qingjue and followed Consort Li’s lead, lowering her body into a curtsy herself.
Huangfu Qingjue did not mind Ling Chuxi’s perfunctory attitude the slightest bit and instead smiled and nodded, saying, “There is no need to be so formal, Consort Li. Is this Fifth Princess’ master? How young. I’m not sure if you are participating in the upcoming fighting ring competition. If you are, I hope you are able to obtain good results.”
“I’ll be borrowing your auspicious words, Lord Divine Messenger,” replied Ling Chuxi with a superficial smile as she squeezed the words out of herself. Huangfu Qingjue! So, this is your real identity! You are actually someone from the Deity Temple! Oh, you rascal. You actually hid everything from me without saying anything! Ling Chuxi felt extremely dissatisfied in her heart and could only glare at Huangfu Qingjue before lowering her head to look at her toes as she secretly imagined herself listlessly drawing circles in the ground while cursing Huangfu Qingjue in her heart.
Seeing Ling Chuxi’s rude attitude towards the Divine Messenger, the Emperor and Consort Li felt relieved and worried at the same time. Relieved because it appeared that Ling Chuxi did not have much of a good impression towards the Deity Temple, therefore they were unafraid that the Deity Temple would be able to win Ling Chuxi over. But, at the same time, they were worried because if Ling Chuxi’s rude behavior caused the Divine Messenger to hold a grudge against her, things would be bad. It was a good thing when they realized their worries seemed to be excessive as the Divine Messenger did not show any expressions of dissatisfaction as he continued to smile at them all warmly.

When it was close to noon, the emperor and Consort Li both asked Ling Chuxi to join them and eat in the palace. The fifth princess also clamored for Ling Chuxi to taste the food here. Ling Chuxi did not decline. The sky was big, and the earth was wide but there was nothing as big of a deal across them both as eating! It was just right that she could try out the culinary skills of the royal chefs. The Divine Messenger would be living in the palace for this period of time and so, he naturally joined them for their meal as well.
This meal was satisfactory to Ling Chuxi. The royal chefs indeed had pretty good culinary skills. After eating and drinking her fill, Ling Chuxi excused herself and left the palace. The fifth princess leapt up after Ling Chuxi to send her off.
The fifth princess sent Ling Chuxi off to her carriage and then stood still by the main gate of the palace to watch the carriage be pulled away. She only turned around and returned inside when she could no longer see the carriage.
Ling Chuxi leaned against the carriage and closed her eyes to rest, but there was a baffling anger in her heart. She did think that she would meet Huangfu Qingjue again, but she never thought that they would meet under such circumstances and that he had such an identity. Someone from the Deity Temple! He was actually someone from the Deity Temple!
After returning to Fu Chengyu’s residence, Ling Chuxi returned to her own quarters and sat by the table. Her heart was full of upset feelings, so she poured a cup of water for herself to try and calm down. Just as she was about to drink it, a fair slender hand pressed down on hers.
“But this water is already cold. Drinking cold water is not good for health, is it?” said a very familiar voice that sounded as cool as moonlight, and as pure as a cold ice flower, but had an indescribable charm. Apart from Huangfu Qingjue, who else was there who had a voice like this? He had once again appeared next to Ling Chuxi silently.
“Oh look, it’s the Lord Divine Messenger…” grunted Ling Chuxi unhappily without even turning around. “Were you always so arrogant? And you even made me to bow to you!”
“This is an identity I had only recently obtained. It was just to make it more convenient for me to do things,” explained Huangfu Qingjue as he looked at the frustrated Ling Chuxi. He could not help but to laugh aloud, knowing full well why she was so angry. Fearfully, she had assumed that he had hidden his true identity from her. However, the truth was not so. He had been misunderstood.
“Ah?” Ling Chuxi was stunned as she turned around to look at the smiling Huangfu Qingjue. She was astonished. “What did you say? An identity you had recently obtained?!” The identity of Divine Messenger of the Deity Temple was an identity that Huangfu Qingjue had recently obtained just to make it more convenient to get things done?! Was such a prestigious identity so easily obtained? Who exactly was Huangfu Qingjue?!
