Chapter 10: Rewards are meant to be fun right?

The way the Ship was sitting the bottom of the ramp was about 2 feet off the ground.  As he sat down on it he noticed a blinking white box off to one side in what the tutorial called his Hud.  He looked at it for a few seconds before making the swiping gesture to open it.

One Mystery Box Available

Open Now?

Yes. No.

"Raven..... What kind of reward can I expect from a mystery box?" He asked before making a decision.

"Mystery boxes will give you an something the system judges you need or want that is available to you on the store regardless of point value." The AI explained to him.

Ice hesitated for a long second before shrugging and selecting Yes.  A bright white glow appeared in front of him as another small drone appeared.  This one looked different then the others. It was rounded and seemed to have compartments on the sides of its beetle shaped body, it had several arms sticking up from the body each with a different tool at the end.  It held still for a few seconds before trundling off leaving marks like tank treads pressed into the sand as it moved around the ship.  A bright blue light came out of one of the tools as it flashed a line like a laser over the ship.

Ice had no idea what it was doing but it didn't seem to be hurting anything so he ignored it. He was feeling hungry again by this point so he bought another thing of blackbread and a small globe of water from the store.

While he ate and drank he watched the 2 combat drones near him, he wasn't sure where the smaller one had gone so he asked his AI receiving a one word reply, "Scouting."  He shrugged and accepted that as long as it was doing whatever it was supposed to do he didn't care at that particular moment.

Ice slowly stood up and started walking up the beach the two combat drones moving with him.  He took a deep breath of the fresh air.  It didn't quite smell right there was something extra to it that made him feel even more alone on an alien planet.  

As he was walking Raven's voice issued out of one of the drones. "Scout one reports hostile near you please take cover while the drones move to intercept."

Ice hearing this looked around for a weapon instead of trying to hide even as a waist high black shape charged down the beach towards him.  He couldn't make out much detail before the two combat drones started firing what looked like small balls of light at the form obscuring it.

It didn't make a single sound as the balls hit it staggering it slightly but not stopping its headlong rush directly towards him.

Ice stared at the form and said out loud just before it hit him, "Oh, Shit."
