Funnily enough, the only life I remember in full is my very first life. I was living on Earth peacefully, my parents named me something cute and unique, and I had siblings who loved me. I was in college, I was at the point I almost graduated but one day, something happened. I'm pretty sure it went like, someone decided to steal from someone, took a young girl as a hostage and I accidentally got killed by the hostage taker but managed to save the girl he took as a hostage.

I don't consider myself a hero but that was probably my proudest moment. Also, the family I had there loved me so much, it felt like I could have been filled with love for three more lives. And honestly… Those were my famous last words. Because after I died that day, I lived again. As a princess, this time.

As a princess, I learned etiquette, I learned topics one should learn to become a princess, I learned how to dance, even how to pleasure the future king but I was killed by my own fiancé because the Crown Prince fell in love with someone and he thought of me as an obstacle. Like asking me isn't going to suffice? I didn't like his stupid ass anyway. The problem was, the motherfucker killed me like I was an expendable asset. My anger towards him reached even the next life I had…

…which, apparently, was a small fish in the ocean. I don't even know what ocean but I was eaten by a much bigger fish so…

And then I became human again, in modern times, like on Earth, but it wasn't Earth. It was Htrae. Yeah. Backwards Earth and for some reason, everyone was talking backwards as well. That was where I thought God really had some sense of humour. Anyhoo, I died after two years of staying there. The body I occupied had some disease but she had a dog! So, that should be a success… I think.

In my fourth life, I became a baby. A baby bear. I had a mother who was taking care of me. It was jarring, though, because I don't know bear language. There were a lot of growls and groans and roars. But I missed having a mother and clearly, this mama bear loves me back. She died because of poachers, though, and of course, I died crying over my mama bear's dead body.

My fifth life wasn't entertaining. I woke up as the Queen of England and married a man named Henry. I didn't wait for me to know if my name is Anna or something, I killed myself.

And of course, my sixth life… except for the first life I had on Earth, I can consider this one as the next successful. I was an unmarried-average-Knight. It was the first time I got reincarnated as a man and it happened during the war, too. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you see it, I survived until the end. I retired and for once, I thought I would live peacefully, but I forgot PTSD exists so that was a whole different ball game. There was also depression, and the fact that I felt I was only useful if I was in the middle of war. I died in the mountains where I decided to spend the rest of my days.

You must be thinking, how is that successful? Well, I died of old age, so…

"Greetings!" An existence that was way too powerful excitedly exclaims.

So, anyway, that brings us to the present, which is apparently meeting and facing God, in the flesh.

"I have a feeling you already know I am."

God.

Holy shit, it's God.

"Yes, that is me. I am God. How are you?" He asks with a smile on his face.

…Is God supposed to be this bubbly, though?

"Well, I have lived for a looooong time~ it's boring to just stay the same, yeah? So you have to balance it up and stuff, you know?"

I don't know.

"Nevermind. So, hey, how was the reincarnation coming along?"

I blink. "Ah… Well, not really going well?"

"Hmm." God hums while He purses his lips and frowns his eyebrows. "Hmmmmm…"

"Did I…" I gulp. "Did I say something wrong?"

"No, not really, I mean I did ask for your feedback so… so what was the problem?"

I tilt my head in confusion. "I kept dying?"

"Circle of life, my friend."

"There was only one time I died of old age. And I had to join wars to survive before that. So I didn't really get to enjoy dying of old age because I was trying to heal myself from PTSD and there was no therapy there and the world was trying to get back on its feet after half of the population dying. Every night I dream of my dead comrades. Did you know you can tell when a man has died even before they're physically dead when the light has left their eyes? It's not metaphorical, it's real, and —"

"Okay, okay, I get it now, the lives you got reincarnated sucks. I'm sorry, I'm not really in-charge of that stuff." God scratches His head and sighs. "It's more of Fate's work and Fate…" He looks around and leans in. He whispers, "That guy is lazy as Hell." Then winks at me when leans away. "That didn't come from me, though."

"Can you really say Hell just like that?" I ask.

"That's what you got from there? Well… yeah, the Bible did show… hmmm… okay, let me explain something to you. The guy in-charge of Hell? We are cool as cucumbers. We are tight! That guy is my homie, my buddy. One time, we went on a road trip and we didn't kill each other. That should say something about how great we are together!"

"You can go on a road trip?" I look around and see there is absolutely nothing around. "In this place?"

"Of course! Magic is good at making stuff like that! You want me to call Them? They're a good one. A little odd, though. I mean, why give people the ability to use magic and then do something like, decreasing their chances of survival the next time they're going to use another big magic spell, am I right?"

No, I think that's just cause and effect.

Wait, I'm getting distracted. I need to get back on track. Was there a track in the first place…? Fuck, whatever. "So, uh… God…"

"Hm?"

"Why am I here?"

God suddenly makes an expression that's near to ah, I got caught, can't be helped. "How many reincarnations have you experienced?"

"Six."

"And they all suck, you say?"

"Yes…"

God nods like He's thinking about it. "Okay, let me explain something to you.in general, when a physical body dies, the soul that was inside that body will come out. The one in-charge of picking up those souls and delivering them is —"

" — the Reaper?" I gasp. "They exist?"

"Yeah, and she's terrifying. All business, no play." God scoffs. "Like what do you mean by asking me why I made too many things? It's not like she doesn't enjoy it when she picks up the souls of the dogs."

I'm learning way too many things at once.

"So, going back… after that, the soul usually can go to only two places. Heaven and Hell. You can say I'm in-charge of Heaven but all the work falls to the one you people call my son."

Slowly, my mouth opens in perfect 'O'. "Jesus?!" I exclaim, my voice rising in two octaves.

God chuckles like I said something funny. Perhaps, I did. From His Perspective. "Yeah! Well… he has a lot of names. Jesus, Metatron… they're all the same."

"Wait, what?"

"Listen, I'll explain that stuff to you later. Focus on the one I'm about to tell you now."

But how is Jesus and Metatron the same being?

"So, if the soul will go to Hell, the soul needs to repent —"

Oi! Go back to the Jesus and Metatron thing first!

" — I don't know how things go for Lucifer down there and quite honestly, I refuse to ask. He's like The Reaper that way, complaining about work I 'forced' him to." He puts air quotes on the word 'forced'. I don't find it funny. "Maybe you'll meet Lucifer. You know. Maybe not in a, you know, repenting way. Just people being friends. Or souls being friends. Or… you know what, I'll stop talking about that." God clears His throat. "But in Heaven, there are two ways, the soul either gets reincarnated orrrrr the soul will go to this place where all souls become stars in the universe."

…I still want to go back to the Jesus and Metatron thing.

"The thing is, souls who get reincarnated, they don't get their memories from their previous lives when they get reincarnated. That's kind of, uh, the whole point."

"The whole point of reincarnation?"

"Yes! Reincarnation is giving a life to souls that need it! But what's the point of giving reincarnation when their memories are still intact? They either know what they're lacking or go insane trying to look for it. That's why no memories should go to the afterlife but you —"

" — I'm different."

" — are different, yes, you remember your first life, which is on Earth and then you remember the one after that, the one after that, and the one after that… anyway, it was something that Metatron found out and he said it gave him a headache so he told me to fix it but how am I supposed to fix something that I don't think is broken, you know?"

"You just said souls can't remember their past lives! I do!"

"Yes, but you also didn't go insane or look for what you think your purpose is, you just, you know, tried… to live, which I realized now is a moot point because you kept dying before you actually enjoyed life but still!" God waves His hands in a manner that looks way too forced. "It's still great, right?!"

I don't know what I look like but I hope it's as confused and in disbelief as I feel.

"Look, I don't know why you kept reincarnating and still attaining your memories. This never happened before. Also, souls only get reincarnated for like, three times, and they usually go become stars."

"If souls only get reincarnated three times, why is there still so much of humanity, then?"

God looks away.

I feel like I understand The Reaper and Jesus now. "You made too much."

"I made… just an okay amount, alright?"

My eyes never left God. I'm looking at him as a serial killer would to their unfortunate victim. Luckily, He is God and I am nothing more than an unfortunate being they made with defects. I guess it should be the other way around.

Holy fuck, what am I thinking?

Sighing, I close my eyes and just — whatever. I have lived six times. This shouldn't surprise or matter to me. I will just… let it go… like I did for the past six lives. Okay. Okay. I'm good. "Fine. It is whatever you say, then what will happen to me? Are you going to finally put me to rest or are you going to reincarnate me…? Tell me straight."

God meets my eyes this time and says, "It had to be the latter."

I close my eyes in annoyance. Again?

"Look, I know what you're thinking but it's not me, okay? Okay, it's technically me, if I think about it because I made it. But, um, ah!" God snaps His fingers. "Oh, you know the natural law, right? Like how is it not possible to bring back people from the dead? It's technically that. We can't force your soul to go somewhere it doesn't want. Unless…"

I blink. "Unless what?"

And I feel dread coming from the very pit of my stomach when God smiles.

*

Religion is a weird thing. I mean, they believe in the afterlife, reincarnation and eternal life, you know, stuff that is usually used in fiction. But when I got reincarnated for the first time, I realized that they were right. Reincarnation does exist. So, I thought, maybe they would be right for other things.

They aren't. I mean, they're half right but again, not in the ways that matters.

God… who is just a man dressed in white cloth, I should say, is now guiding me into a corporate-like building. The difference is there are creatures all over the place with multiple eyes on their body. I remember that being in the Bible, and while that's a fascinating find and I would have paid real money to see people who believe in this shit to be told, hey, you're right! It still doesn't change the fact I am terrified of what I'm seeing, Holy mamooly.

We reach what seems to be the 'elevator' of this place but the elevator door is an eyelid. I enter, anyway, because my way of coping is to ignore everything until it blows up to my face. It has worked so far so I'm going to continue doing it.

Then, God says, "We are meeting at least five… people, maybe, people, I don't know what to call them. There's Magic, Alchemy, Metatron, Fate and Astrology. The Reaper would be here but she's still on planet number eight. Hey, you got reincarnated there. The backwards Earth. I lost motivation to name their world so I just stole from you guys."

"Is that something you should be proud of?" I frown while turning my head towards him.

"I made y'all, so it's technically not plagiarism." God shrugs. "I'm God, what can I say?"

"The fact that you can say shit like that and still make sense is pissing me off."

"I'm good at making people mad for some reason."

"I can tell."

God smirks and the eyelid opens. I put my foot forward and I suddenly feel… dizzy.

"Come on."

"Yeah, sorry… I just…"

"I know but come on."

I brace myself and put my other foot forward. Inside, I already can tell these… People are different from me.

God grabs me and sticks me close to him. "This is the human soul Metatron found. Originally, she was from Earth and then —"

"We know." One of them cuts Him off. "Get on to the real thing."

God nods. "Right, right." Then He looks at me. "Let me introduce them to you. So, the one who just cut me off is Astrology. Rude bastard, am I right?"

"Don't call me that."

"And the guy next to Astrology is Magic."

Magic just holds a hand up.

"And the guy next to that is Jesus aka Metatron aka —"

"Enough, Dad, come on."

"And the one who is in-charge of the highs and lows of humanity and everything else, Fate." God points to the one next to… weird thing to say but Jesus.

"I don't have as much power as you think, girl." Fate says. "I mean all I need to do is play around with some yarn."

"Fate is a cat." God comments.

"That works as well as you think." Jesus interjects.

"Is the Reaper really not going to attend?" God asks.

Alchemy answers. "She left a resignation letter."

"How am I going to fire her when she's the only one who can do the — let's talk about that later." God shakes His head and pats my head. "I need your help to send her to the stars."

They all look at God with a straight face.

"That's not possible. You made the rule." Astrology says.

"And why would you do that, even?" Jesus adds with an incredulous face. "Isn't the point of that rule you made is for reincarnated souls to find their real purpose without divine intervention?"

"And you also made that rule with a punishment. Something like, what was it?" Alchemy chimes.

"Getting our authority revoked on some parts of our powers, apparently." Astrology snorts. "Don't threaten me with a good time, though. I might actually just do it for the hell of it."

"No, seriously, you guys, this is important." God whines. "Hey, Jesus, start telling them!"

Jesus sighs, exasperatedly. "How did I become the son of God?" He murmurs quite heavily. "This soul that God brought is not exactly normal."

"Isn't that the soul that came from Earth that got reincarnated a few times?" Magic asks.

"She has attained all of her memories from those lives." Jesus explains.

Magic, Alchemy, Astrology and Fate look shocked.

Magic looks at me. "How many lives?"

"Six."

"Six?" Astrology echoes.

"That's why I brought her here. She's, um, understandably tired. She lived six times and died six times and she only lived in old age for one of them." God continues explaining. "If you all chip in, maybe the punishment wouldn't be as severe."

"Maybe?" Astrology echoes again.

"In return," I utter. "I will try to do something for you, guys. God said I have to be reincarnated for the seventh time, anyway. If there's anything I can do during that —"

"There is." Jesus cuts me off and then looks at Magic. "Farawa."

"Farawa!" Magic speaks as if she's in awe. "Exactly!"

"I forgot about that. Isn't that the world that is going to die in a few years?" Astrology asks.

"Don't say that. That world is nice." Fate says.

"Ah, what's Farawa?" I ask while I look at everyone.

"A world that's on Planet number forty eight. It's where every fantasy you have read on Earth exists. Mana, magic, monsters, dungeons, and all that good stuff." God explains.

If that's the case, then maybe that exists there, too. "Slavery?" I quip.

God halts. "Not all the good stuff."

"If we reincarnate her there, we need a physical body that is a blank slate." Alchemy reminds them.

"How about that girl, Sophia…" Astrology  says. "A normal human girl, blank slate, almost."

"Hmm, that's good enough." Magic agreed.

To me, Alchemy suddenly says, "I will give you the power of Alchemy. As you know, Alchemy is the ability to make anything man-made. Weapons, medicine, even things like crafts are under Alchemy."

I have been thinking about this even before. "Is Modern Medicine under Alchemy too?"

"Yes." Alchemy answers dryly.

"As for Magic, I will give you the power of unlimited dimension space. You put anything in it and it won't rot or look like a day has passed since you put it inside."

I say. "So, like an Item Box in video games."

Magic smiles. "Yes, that's right. Item Box."

"In that case, I will give you access to the Northern Star. It will act as a guide for you. What you will do is you will look at the sky and whisper these words, Stellae me ducant." Astrology interjects.

I haven't had time to notice it earlier but Astrology looks really beautiful. She looks like a Greek goddess.

While Fate shrugs and says, "I'll try to put more luck into you. Maybe the misfortune of your past lives would be enough as compensation."

Then they all look at Jesus.

Jesus sighs. "I'll deliver her to Farawa."

Then they all smile.

And then God says, "And I will —"

" — do nothing." Everyone says at once.

"You are all mean to me, I am your creator!"

"Uncreate us then." Alchemy declares.

Ignoring all of that, I ask, "What is the mission you are going to give me?"

"We need you to find the Hero and the Saintess and to take care of them until the time is right for them to step into the world." God explains, and for the first time in a while, I have seen him as one. I open my mouth but then He holds a hand up. "There are some things even I can't tell you. And this is one of those."

I snap my mouth close. I mutter after a second. "Sounds easy enough."

"Well, sure, but there is a reason why we tried to make your life as easy as we can." God adds. "Look, having a purpose is good and all but don't forget to live your life. Understand?"

I nod. "Yes."

I'm about to say something when I see ashes coming out in my direction. When I look down, I realize it's me. "Wait, you're sending me now?!"

"Have fun!" God exclaims excitedly.

WHAT THE FUCK?!

*

Unbeknownst to her, as soon as she completely vanishes God and the rest of His entourage suddenly falls into deep silence.

It is Jesus who speaks up. "That was too sloppy. I can't believe we actually succeeded."

"We managed to convince her, though, that's what matters." God replies.

"You know, when she passes the test, and I have no doubt in my mind she will, and she finds out what really happened, she might actually just kill all of us."

All of them look at each other but express no regret, anyway.

*

When I open my eyes, the first thing I see is a woman yelling in front of me with a worried look on her face. Her face is pale white, and her black hair is all over the place. I notice a man hovering over us with a look on his face.

And something wet seems to tickle my back. I touch it and then look at my hand.

Blood?

Blood?

Are you kidding me? I just got here!
