Chapter 6: Six: Baking Cookies.

After we finished our breakfast, we walked to the garden.

I stopped before we reach the garden.

"You go first and I will come after," I said.

"Ehhh! Where are you going, daddy" Azura said.

"You will find out once I come back," I said mysteriously.

"Daddy's acting mysteriously," Celestia said with a chuckle.

"I will go with Azu and Cely to the garden, we will be waiting for you, Adam". Alena said.

I left them and walked back to the corridor.

I went back to my office, to finish the last remaining paperwork I have to do.

After fifteen minutes.

I just finished the final paper I had to sign.

After I finished up my work for the day, I walked my way to the castle kitchen to try and make the cookies recipe I got as a reward from the system.

Even though I have the information and the way to make it, it doesn't mean that I will make it the first time.

I'm already in my fourth attempt, with a lot of burnt cookies at the side.

I've been struggling with the lack of quality ingredients in this world.

Also, the technology in this world is the same as in my last world, Earth. They are still far lacking medical technology, and agriculture... So far they use magic in their everyday life.

They look the same, but the difference is that in this world, Empires and Kingdoms Rule.

Enough of that talk right now, and let's go back to my burnt cookies.

what did I say again?

ah! Yeah, you won't be a professional cook Even if you have a flawless recipe, to muster anything you need to practice it many times.

I already burnt the cookies on the third attempt...

But, in my fourth attempt, I've already made it.

"Alright, will that do it?"

But, even if there's still a long way to go before I become fully satisfied.

I'm fairly confident that at least some of the cookies in this batch will be delicious.

I took one cookie to taste it, um? yeah, it's delicious.

Hm? Why I'm baking sweets like this?

Obviously, for my cute little daughters and my beloved wife, I can treat them to something delicious that I made with my love and care for them.

But, of course, if you compared them with the cookies in my previous world, anyone would think they don't quite measure up.

After all, I'm not professional.

My priority was to try to make them look as cute as possible, but… when I thought about a severe-looking father like myself trying to do cute little frosting designs on cookies, something in my heart ached… Even so, I'll have to overcome this pain for the sake of the ones I love, a trial like this is nothing, I'm the strongest person in this world, after all, and nothing can beat me, even if it's a little cute cookie design.

Ronald the head chef of the palace peeked over my shoulder curiously.

"Hm? Yeah, for the time being at least" I answered.

"Is that so…? At any rate, Adam-sama, since when have you taken up cooking?" Ronald asked curiously.

"Mm… Well, not too long ago. Can I ask you to taste test for me?"

"Of course.," Ronald said.

I can hardly say it was perfect like my previous life, but Ronald seemed pleased as I was asking him to test all my creations all the time.

I felt a little bad about lying to him like that, but I pushed those thoughts out of my mind as Ronald took a bite.

And then, he froze.

His face turned deadly serious.

"Ronald?" It didn't taste that bad for him to give this kind of reaction, right? I thought while calling Ronald.

"Adam-Sama can you please teach me the recipe for this?... Ronald suddenly asked.

which I don't mind.

"I don't mind, but can you tell how they tasted first," Even though I now know the answer... after feeling like there'd be a ghastly reckoning should I refuse Ronald here, I steeled my expression and asked him.

"They're, well… they're incredibly delicious. Honestly, just what means did you use to make something so unbelievably tasteful?"

"Well… love, I suppose?"

I couldn't say I was just following a recipe I got from the system... but somehow Ronald seemed convinced with my answer.

"I see... so after all, the reason really is because you have close with your lady Alena-Sama, daughters Celestia-Sama, and Alena-Sama, right Adam-Sama," Ronald said.

"haha... well, I guess?" I felt the beginnings of cold sweat on my brow.

but, it's not as if he's wrong.

Recently, the atmosphere in the Coldside household has been completely different.

Up until now, the relationship between the duke of the household, Adam, and his wife Alena and daughters Celestia and Azura had seemed frigid and forlorn, and that heavy atmosphere

Eventually, I got used to it… however, it seems like lately the amount of servants that are smiling at me as I pass by is growing.

"That's right… There's another dish I wanted to try cooking, but… can I ask for your help?" I said to Ronald who was still standing in front of me.

"Of course, you can! Then, you can tell me the recipe for those cookies later." Ronald answered with great enthusiasm.

"Yeah… but for the time being, I'd like to invite those three to have tea with me, so I'll be back later," I said.

With that, I left the kitchen.

Alongside Ronald, there should be a lot more opportunities to collaborate and try and work on the egg rolls I received from my system, but… at that time, Alena, Azura, and Celestia were the only three people on my mind.
