Chapter 2: V1CH1

DNS Highschool. It's full form is... I don't know. But meh. Who cares?

I have attended DNS Public School since I was a child. Now that I have graduated at the top of the middle school, I am now entering the high school.

Even after moving up to a new phase of the school, the classes don't change. So I have been in the same class as my classmates since middle school, as I changed classes once after graduating from primary school.

With a refreshing smile and cool look, I entered my class, 1-C. (That's my imagination. I am totally a shortie, and everyone makes fun of me for that.)

I have arrived about an hour earlier to take the best possible seat. Guess which seat is it!

The protagonist's seat? Oh hell no!

It is the front seat in the corner, just besides the door. Because the population in classes is too much, and I am a shortie so I can't see the board from the last seat.

I am just 5' 4.5", at the age of 16. I haven't grown a little bit for almost two years. And I was proud two years ago that I stood as the 10th or 11th tallest guy back then.

Then I tried to start the lights and fans. But the situation was worse than I expected. Out of 3 tubelights and 4 fans, only one fan was working. And it spinned slower than a fidget spinner. And to make the matters worse, it was in the backside of the classroom.

Shitty Principal. She must have embezzled a lot of school funds to leave the school in such a state.

Having nothing else to do, I started roaming around the building to wait for someone else to come. 

After sometime, a girl who I am very familiar with came into my sight. Ayasaka Ai, one of the closet friend of mine who I know for about 6-7 years. She is almost as good as me in academics, but is far superior than me in intelligence and social skills. 

I also have a crush on her.

"Hi Daisu~"

"Hi. You came really early."

"I can't?"

"Nah, I am glad you came. Now I don't have to do stupid things to pass my time."

We entered the classroom and she raised an eyebrow towards me.

"Only one fan is working?"

"Oh you don't say! Who knows that the only fan will also stop working?"

And since I have such accurate precognition abilities, the only fan which was working, let out a growl and stopped spinning completely. Bye bye Fan-kun. I hope you will be replaced soon.

"See? I have quite a black tongue."

"Haha...ha...haaaah! We got a really shitty class, didn't we?"

"Yeah."

Sulking at our situation, she put her bag on the seat besides me and let out a sigh.

"So, how was your vacation?"

"Nothing. Eat, sleep, repeat. And let me guess about yours, playing games and anime and stuff. Am I right?"

"Yeah. You are totally right about that."

A comfortable silence descended between us. So as to break the silence, I urged her to "Talk about something."

"What do I talk about? I don't have anything interesting."

"Aw man! Anything will work."

We both contemplated on the topic to talk about. Nothing was coming into my mind, really. How exciting is my life? I just eat, sleep, play games and watch anime, and repeat the cycle everyday. Nothing really interesting happens in my life. Suddenly, I got an amazing idea, which should be worthy to give nobel prize to whoever had this idea first.

"The weather is nice."

"The weather is nice."

We said the same thing at the same time. Looks like she reached at the same conclusion as me.

"We thought about the same thing."

"We thought about the same thing."

"..."

"..."

Wow, this is awkward.

I took out my bottle to drink some water. Even though it is April, the highest temperature reaches to 31-32°C during the noon. Our region sure is a hot place.

"Daisuke, I like you."

"*Splat* *cough* Looks like I have a hearing problem."

But I am not one to have such delusions... So why am hearing things?

She stood up from her seat and came really close to me. She was staring straight into my eyes.

I might get a heart attack.

"I like you."

My eyes widened.

W-w-what is happening!!?

It can't be real! It can't be real!

Ai likes me!!!!

Daisuke, calm down! Breathe in, breathe out. Give her your answer. Don't leave her hanging.

"I-"

"April fool!"

"...what?"

Ai turned around and left the classroom while saying that she has to go washroom hurriedly.

...what just happened?
